Guests enjoy the area's scenic beauty and fresh air, where one drives by lovely colonial homes on large country lots, to find our home along famous North River (the first designated 'wild and scenic' in MA).
Free off street parking (multiple spots if requested) for guests.
Normally, we will ask guests to park in front of the LEFT garage door (a model sailboat marks the spot).
The very private apartment suite has its own set of steps from a side entrance in the garage. The newer large (600+ sq foot) studio apartment (one large room) is full of natural light. The room's 10 windows (with new custom blinds) overlook woods & lawns with bird feeders and a historic 1700 era home, across the street on the bank of the North River.
The apartment has a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker; private bath with shower; desk, couch, easy chair, bookcase, lots of natural and overhead lights, two very comfortable beds (twin & queen in the same large room) and two air /floor mattresses, if needed.
EMERGENCY GENERATOR: Visitors on a stormy /windy night will very much appreciate our new gas generator which runs everything in the event of a local area power loss. Unlike many who must bear with the semi-frequent power failures due to the wooded area, our guests will continue to enjoy INTERNET, heat /air conditioning and light. Guest AccessGuests have private access 24 hours/day and use of the entire suite ( one large room - 600 square foot of space) above our extended two car garage, with the exception of one small storage closet (next to the window AC). There is a large double door closet in the suite we have made available for guests to hang clothes and/or use for suitcase storage.
Guest will have their own yard (south side of garage) with lawn chairs and small table, surrounded by woods. Lawn games are available and we welcome the use of our large front lawn, with views of the river, if availability is confirmed prior.
Guests are encouraged to walk the 100 yards to the bridge over the North River to view the boating /fishing activity or to enjoy a refreshing swim. The North River bridge is one of the few legal "jumping" bridges in MA. The river is tidal, having a 12 foot range, so the current goes both ways. Jumps from the bridge are a little more exciting (memorable) near low tide. For those wanting a little less excitement, there is beautiful walk through a tall stand of cedar trees along the quiet, much less traveled, private lane behind our property. The closest public ocean beach (Humarock) is less than 6 miles away (a 14 minute drive). Duxbury Beach is almost as close and has very few people in the off season. Interaction with GuestsCHECK IN and CHECK OUT is very easy. We attempt to meet every guest upon arrival (TEXT/update us with your arrival time ) but one can easily let themselves into the apartment suite, at any hour of the day or night. We have enjoyed every guest we have hosted. Some choose to have more privacy and less conversation - The property lends itself very well to that. Others have become like family.
We welcome you to call or text questions or concerns at any time, day or night. Please let us know if there is something you forgot or need - we might have "a something" that will work !! The NeighborhoodThe area is beautiful. The fall colors are amazing. We have a lot of walking trails through woodlands you can get to directly from our studio apartment.
The beach is close enough we can hear heavy surf when the wind blows from the NE, E or SE.
