The SpaceOur sweet 1900 cottage tucked into trees, surrounded by meadows on all sides seeks peace-loving guests.Cozy, quiet, a perfect romantic weekend or retreat; sit on the front porch and watch the meadows, or try nearby hiking, biking, skiing, antiquing. An adorable "dollhouse" cottage out in the country of the Catskills, 2.5 hour drive north of Manhattan. Notice that some of the photos are from before the renovations; we're organizing them. No cleaning deposit! But that's because we'll be asking each guest to clean after themselves. If possible, bring your own sheets and towels. We'll discuss this when you book. Rather than raise the nightly rate, we're keeping the "cleaning deposit"on AirBNB ($80 per booking), to cover the cost of heat for your stay. For other times, ask about calendar dates--the dates may be different than those listed. New fridge, newly-painted bathroom, new windows. Furnished with nice, old furniture as you'd expect in a country cottage, and a new double futon in main bedroom, new single bed in second bedroom (and a fairly new sofabed in living room). New furnace (October, 2012) for oil heat. Downstairs: front porch (excellent for morning coffee; re-painted top to bottom summer 2014), dining area, kitchen, bath, big living room with pull-out queen sofa, two comfy easy chairs. Also downstairs: small bedroom with desk, chair, and single bed. Upstairs: sweetest bedroom in the world, painted a buttery off-white, with white dresser, new double futon bed, end tables. For hot nights, a screened in sleeping porch with new futon on a base. For cold nights, flannel sheets and comforters. In case you don't want to get away from all of it, there is wifi. All that is great, but the best in the spring, summers and early fall is the terrace, where we spend long evenings watching the sun go down over the meadows. Winter wonderland: we can't promise snow, but the house is about a 45 minutes drive up the mountain to the popular ski town of Windham. Cross-country skiing is about ten minutes away in Rensselearville. In winter, there's nothing like just walking on the rolling roads in the area, looking for deer and winter birds, then coming home to nestle in to the comfortable sofa in the (well-heated!) living room, or to tuck in under the down comforters on the bed. Guest AccessEntire house, terrace, porches, yard. Interaction with GuestsGuests have entire house. We're a phone call /email/text away. The NeighborhoodAutumn the meadows flush with golden light. The house is surrounded by meadows on all sides; you can just see one farmhouse if you stand in the right spot. This is the real country. Watch deer in the meadows from the terrace or the front porch; walk out the front door and down the road to pass woods with pileated woodpeckers, and wood thrush. Down a rolling country road, you feel you've escaped the city before you even arrive. The house is absolutely quiet, surrounded by meadows on all sides. A pleasant 45-minute drive to the hip and hopping town of Hudson, with gourmet restaurants, cafes, and world-class antiquing. A two-minute drive to a general store store with groceries & health food, fresh eggs from the farm. Getting AroundYou can get here by driving, or by taking a train to Hudson NY or Catskill NY and renting a car from there. Other Things to NoteThis is not a luxury home. Don't expect perfection, but it's organized, sweet, and clean.

The SpaceThis is the second floor of an old carriage style house (probably once for small industrial production), built in the second half of the nineteenth century. The first floor is a record store called Dope Jams (appointment only). The living space is large and open, with bedrooms off to one side, and bathrooms at the other. Two large picture windows dominate the southwestern wall looking over the creek. The lightness of the space any time of day, with the wooden floor and low ceilings makes it cozy but never stuffy; lovely feeling in a massive common space. The kitchen is fully equipped (by two seasoned cooks): cast iron, grinders, blenders, etc. There is a delicious vinyl stereo system and a couple thousand records (you can also hook up your iPod). Windham is a 22 min drive, 33 min to Hudson. Closer to home are drives through beautiful countrysides and plenty of irish pubs. Guest AccessImmediate access to hiking and ski runs in nearby Windham and Catskill state park. Local farms for meat and produce. Hudson is a straight shot to the east. Right in Oak Hill there is the Yellow Deli: a Twelve Tribes cult eatery for an entertaining lunch or coffee, a cute antique shop, and the Grey Fox music festival in the summer. Also, we live above the Dope Jams record shop (appointment only). Interaction with GuestsOptional, your call?

The SpaceThe Woods Site is a natural clearing in the woods, set apart from the central campground area but close enough to enjoy the shared amenities there. Just off one of the hiking trails, you're surrounded by tall trees with peaceful solitude. It has a private fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill and room for up to three tents for your party. This is a good site for couples, small groups or families who enjoy the "woodsy" experience of camping and want a bit more privacy. The campground is at the center of our 50-acre working family farm, where we raise vegetables, fruit, flowers, herbs, chickens, ducks, turkeys & honeybees using sustainable growing practices. The campground is in a secluded, natural area surrounded by woods, meadow, farm fields and a spring-fed pond. Natural beauty and wildlife abound - fall asleep to the hooting of owls and chirping of crickets, wake to the songs of bluebirds and scent of wild honeysuckle. We're far from any city lights, making for brilliant stargazing. The central shared area of the campground has a small camp kitchen stocked with drinking water, propane camping stove, coffeemaker and basic cookware. There is also a port-a-potty with handwashing supplies. Enjoy games of horseshoes, badminton, wiffle ball and our giant tractor-tire swing! This is rustic camping, off-the-grid with no running water, electricity or wi-fi and spotty cell phone service. There is no shower. This is one of three campsites in the farm campground. Campsites are placed out of direct line-of-sight from one another to give you personal space and privacy. Guest AccessThe campground is a pleasant 1/4 mile walk from the farm yard and visitor parking area. Private cars are not allowed to drive to the campground and we are strict about this to maintain the natural state and spirit of the camping area (and the intact state of your tires). We have carts you may use to pull your gear down, or we can drive it down on periodic runs of our hay wagon. Standard check-in window is 3-5 pm, check out at 11 am. We will do our best to accommodate earlier or later times upon request, subject to our farm work schedule. Your party will have sole use of your fire pit, picnic table and charcoal grill within the Woods Site. Your site rental includes a starter stack of firewood; additional firewood may be gathered in the woods or purchased from us. We supply utensils, matches and a chimney starter for the grill at your site, but you'll need to bring your own charcoal (or buy some from us). We have some additional camping gear available to rent if needed. Within the central camping area you'll have shared use of the camp kitchen, port-a-potty and outdoor games. The camp kitchen is suitable for simple tasks like making coffee or heating a pot of food. Be mindful this space is shared with other campers and is not for storing your supplies - please plan to bring (or rent from us) your own cooler to store food in your site. To fully experience your farm stay we invite you to explore and participate in farm activities. Hike the series of marked trails around the property, stroll through the upper gardens and meet friendly chickens & ducks in the farm yard. Our weekend farm store offers fresh homegrown produce, eggs, chickens, homemade baked goods and more. Check the board in the farmstand to see what farm activities are going on each day, or ask us about customizing a tour or workshop for your group. Farm breakfasts are available on Saturday & Sunday mornings for an additional charge. We have two farm dogs on the property, along with many chickens & ducks. Please do not bring your dog or other pets without prior discussion/ approval from us. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the farmhouse on the property 1/4 mile from the camping area, so you'll have plenty of privacy but we are also available if you need us. We are happy to engage you in our farm activities, and offer recommendations for local restaurants and activities. This is a working farm, so you will see us around the property working during your stay and driving our tractor past the camping area. The NeighborhoodThe campground is surrounded entirely by natural and agricultural space - the farm is your neighborhood while you are here! If you simply want to get away from it all and relax in a natural setting, you'll probably find you don't need to go anywhere else during your stay. If you want to venture out, we are five miles outside the village of Greenville, a friendly small rural town with grocery and convenience stores, bank/ATM, pharmacies, park/playground, a drive-in showing classic movies, ice cream shops and several family-friendly dining options. A little further from town you'll find antique stores, horseback riding, several excellent restaurants, Zoom Flume Water Park, Huyck Nature Preserve and the Catskill State Park. There are a number of natural swimming holes in creeks within a short drive of the farm, and several state parks with beaches within a 45 minute drive. Getting AroundThe nearest Amtrak station is in Hudson, a 30 minute drive from the farm. There is no public transportation but we can provide information about a local private taxi service. By car we are 5 minutes from Greenville, 10 minutes from Rensselaerville, 30 minutes from Catskill & Hudson, 45 minutes from Albany and about 2 1/2 hours from New York City. Other Things to NoteIf you prefer a more open camping site, check out our Meadow Site: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5824420?guests=1&s=z3A2uMer If you don't relish sleeping on the ground and want a more lux camping experience, check out our glamping (glamour+camping) site: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12796611?guests=1&s=z3A2uMer For large groups/ events, the entire campground can be rented subject to availability, giving your group full private use of the central campground amenities and all three camping sites. Please contact us to discuss possible arrangements.

The DeWitt, Oak Hill is a mix of eclectic style and complete comfort. It has been designed for a clientele that loves to be surrounded by beautiful pieces, but still wants to kick back and relax. Lounge in the two-story great room, where a beautiful Hollywood Regency curved velvet sofa holds court, a baby grand piano awaits a player, and a retro record player—complete with our record selection—is ready for you to enjoy the crackly sounds of old phonographs. A selection of art books and old design magazines are available to peruse. Or just lie back and listen to the sounds of the Catskill Creek only feet away from your window. Upstairs in the gallery is a small reading area with a selection of books to read during your stay (you can also take it home because everything is for sale!). All four bedrooms have been curated by individual stylists, creating a one-of a-kind experience for each guest: one queen room has tree branches from the garden reaching up to the ceiling, with a tree stump acting as a side table, and vintage and modern art on the walls; another boasts hand-painted murals and rococo decor, with a touch of whimsy. The full bedroom is a place where we envision whiling an afternoon away reading a book. A vintage iron bed and mid-century reading chair help create a quite respite. The twins bedroom puts you in mind of a summer camp. Oversized iron beds, Pendleton blankets, duck decoys, fishing rods and old-found bottles meet work lights and chalkboards with whimsical writings. The en-suite bathrooms are classic white subway-tile with black accents and vintage accessories; the walk-in shower has a luxury rain shower. We feature only locally-made vegetable soaps and cruelty-free shampoo and conditioners. The DeWitt is right on the Catskill Creek. Our garden has multiple seating areas and fireplaces as well as creek access to cool off your toes, sunbathe or read a book laying on one of the huge rocks as the water flows past you. The indoor dining area overlooks the living space and has a bar/wine rack and a table that changes from a round, more intimate table to a rectangular table capable of seating up to 14 people. Guests can also take their breakfast out to the garden dining area right outside the kitchen door. All areas of the house are accessible except for the hosts private residence (not shown in these photos). Every room shown in the photos is available to guests.

The SpaceThis is a unique campsite in the woods. Very remote and quiet. No cell service here. Being so remote, this location is completely off the grid. Using a collection of whole-earth-catalog technologies, the campsite provides the basics for human survival. The camper has a minimal, but hard-working kitchen including: 3 burner propane range, propane fridge/freezer (fridge holds 50˚), french press, kettle, decent knife, cutting boards, cups, plates, and cutlery. Guests are welcome to use the herb garden: Fresh basil, cilantro, dill, sage, thyme, oregano, and mint. There is an animal farm within walking distance that sells meat and eggs, raised in their fields. The shipping container office opens at both ends; giving it an airy feel. The office features a motorized sit-stand desk, an Aeron chair, wifi, and a hammock. Water comes from the rain, it is triple filtered and safe to drink. Solar panels and batteries provide electricity. This site uses a composting outhouse, which works a bit different from a normal toilet. The camper has two single beds, and the shipping container has an optional queen sized air mattress. Bedding included. Guest AccessGuests can access the vintage airstream, the shipping container office, the outhouse, and 3,000 acres of state forest. Interaction with GuestsI will not be onsite, but can help via email.
