• Public Walkway to access the beach (complete with fishing docks) on 9th street!
• At the end of our street you’ll find the Davis Canal – this is intercoastal water & you are welcome to fish off of the bank (note: you cannot fish in the canal or ocean without a NC fishing license)
• Best route to the beach from the house: Take left off of 10th street onto East Oak Island Drive. Go 10 blocks to Middleton & turn left towards beach. Turn right or left at ocean – public parking spaces are located about every 10 blocks in both directions.
• There’s a DVD rental store on 46th street and no membership is required to rent.
• There is a Food Lion grocery store on the island & there is a new Lowe's Food store across the Middleton bridge.
• Trash/recycles pickup - place cans next to mailbox on street. Trash & recycling pickup is every Monday morning. Please put cans back beside the deck after pickup.
BIKE/PADDLE BOARD/KAYAK RENTALS
There are several places to rent bikes, paddle boards, and kayaks. If you have a way to carry the bikes yourself then we suggest the rental shop on front beach at south east 40th street. There's also two other bike rental shops as you leave the island near the Habitat Restore store. However, if you don't have a truck to transport the bikes I suggest you contact Paddle (EMAIL HIDDEN) or (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and book your rental. They will deliver and pickup your rentals!
