The SpaceOur home is a 4 bedroom 3.5 bath townhome. Our fourth floor is available for you and your guests. The 4th floor has a full bathroom, a bedroom with 2 twin beds and river views. This floor also has a separate living space complete with a full sized pull out couch, TV, DVD player and Wii.
A Queen sized Aero bed can be placed in the living space on the 4th floor for 2 people to share.
All of this combined allows us to comfortably host 4 people. 6 could be accommodated if you used the pull out couch and Aero bed, but it would be tight. Guest AccessWe live in the home as well and ask that you respect our space and things. The kitchen can only be used for microwaving and coffee. For safety reasons, we ask that the stove is not used at all. The refrigerator can be used for storing leftovers or food from your travel cooler.
Couches, our sons rooms on the 3rd floor and our master bedroom on the 3rd floor are not part of our listings and should not be used or accessed.
If you are just looking for a quiet night in, we have 100's of DVD's for you to enjoy. We also have a decent selection of games.
If you have children, we can help you with getting set up. We have 2 Pack n' Plays that can be set up in the room that you are using.
There is an unlimited amount of free parking on the street in front of our home Interaction with GuestsThis is our primary residence, so we will most likely be around during the majority of your stay. Depending on your travel plans, we can arrange to pick you up at the airport (40 mins from our home, fee applies). While you are staying with us, you will have a passcode to the front door and you can come and go as you please. We will send this to you a day or two before you arrive.
We offer a light continental style breakfast each day you are staying with us (coffee, tea, fresh fruit, granola bars and oatmeal).
We do have one cat named Oliver, that generally stays out of the way. We suggest to pet him above the collar only.
We have 2 boys (1 born Sept 2011 and the other born June 2015) who are a lot of fun. Understand that children will be in the home during our stay, but they are good sleepers and shouldn't be bothersome to you. The NeighborhoodOur home is located one block from the Allegheny River. It is great to walk down to the riverfront trail in the morning and watch the boats go by.
Oakmont itself is a quaint little town 13 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. It is easily walkable and has many different types of shops, restaurants and bars. Be sure to check out the famous Oakmont Bakery. We also have an old fashioned single screen movie theater that plays both new and old films.
Oakmont is a very safe community as well. Getting AroundPittsburgh public transit buses can be accessed from the entrance of our neighborhood (Oakmont Flyer is the route name) and that will get you into Pittsburgh, but is not the most time efficient. The PA turnpike is 3 miles from our home. Driving into the city is also an easy 15 minute drive. Nearly every part of the city and suburbs can be accessed within 30 minutes from our home.
Previous guests have stayed with us and gone to events at local colleges (CMU, Pitt, Duquesne, Robert Morris), visited many of the museums and eaten in some of the best restaurants that Pittsburgh has to offer. Other Things to NoteWe have a security deposit on our listings to cover accidental damage to our home. This would cover broken dishes, towel/sheet damage or any other unforeseeable damage. This will be fully refunded by AirBnb if there is no damage to the house. We have to cover ourselves for these small damages somehow.
We enjoy going to a lot of different types of restaurants and will be more than willing to point you in the right direction, based on your likes.
2 mountain bikes (1 mens, 1 womens) are available for use. A child's seat is mounted to the women's bike.
Clean towels and linens are provided for all bathrooms and bedrooms.
