The SpaceThis fabulous, quite and peaceful BnB is great for a weekend or extended stay in the crystal Lake area. You have the lower level, it comfortably fits two people, queen bed, we have one twin bed upstairs for a child or additional guest. In the back yard we have a garden and fire pit, which you are welcome to cook s'mores by. Chris is a bike freak so we have extra bike to use. Upstairs is the kitchen with all appliances for cooking a great meal. We have plenty of coffee and tea. About a half a mile from our house there hiking trails. The beach of Silver Lake is just down the hill from our house. It is a non motorized lake for swimming or training. One caution is Chase our fun loving dog. If you have allergies to dogs this might not be the place for you. We want you to feel comfortable so please don't hesitate with any questions! The SpaceLocated on a tree lined street just blocks from downtown suburban Crystal Lake, IL. This home offers a welcoming atmosphere. There are two living areas in this split level home. The lower level offers two very clean and bright rooms with 14' ceilings. The second level offers four bedrooms. There is a total of three and a half bathrooms. You can use a quiet sitting area with very comfortable leather furniture which is in the lower level or you can use the formal living room on the main level. There is a full bathroom with a large shower right outside of the bedroom door. This is a shared bathroom if there are other guests, but there is a also a 1/2 bathroom right off of the kitchen for your use as well. Guest AccessYou will have access to the kitchen, a lower level living space with a sitting area with a leather couch and oversized chair and a new 48" television. There is a shared dorm sized refrigerator for your use in the the sitting area. A backyard gas bbq grill, patio and deck are also available. You are welcome to join us in the kitchen or in the living room at any time. Interaction with GuestsI am usually available immediately by cell phone to answer any of your questions about your stay. I have an in home office that I work from on occasion and when I am there you are more than welcome to contact me. The NeighborhoodIn 2015 Crystal Lake was rated #10 in the entire United States as the best small town to live in. Crystal Lake is a family oriented suburb of Chicago, we are 40 miles away from downtown Chicago. Crystal Lake prides itself on school quality, parks, downtown shopping, two Crystal Lake Metra train stations serving downtown Chicago. And of course local arts and entertainment. There is a great PARK DISTRICT in Crystal Lake with many parks and lakes available for many activities such as boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, etc. Getting AroundFree weekend parking at the downtown Metra rail station. You will need a car if you are planning to visit surrounding towns, but if you are interested in visiting Chicago the Metra train will get you there and back without need for a vehicle. From our house it is a short 4 block walk to the downtown train station and downtown restaurants and shopping. Intercity transit is not readily available in Crystal Lake. If you do not have a car and don't plan to use the train, you will at least want a bicycle to get around on. The Metra train ride to Chicago is a 1hr and (website hidden) is certainly not the Zepher and makes many stops along the way. On weekends there is a special ticket you can buy that is good for as many trips and stops that you may want to make on a Saturday or Sunday. The ticket is call "Weekend Special". There are reduced ticket prices for STUDENTS and SENIORS as well as a 10 ride and a monthly pass. There are usually taxis at the train station for your convenience. Other Things to NoteMost important is that you enjoy your stay. If there is anything that I can provide to assist in you comfort please let me know and I will try to accommodate your needs. This is a very friendly Airbnb home and we are usually booked throughout the summer (all four rooms).

There is always something to do in Crystal Lake or we are close enough to Chicago to enjoy the city anytime. Getting AroundThere is not much public transit in Crystal Lake, you can find a taxi at the train station or call one if needed. Other Things to NoteThis is a family oriented home in a wonderful suburb of Chicago. Crystal Lake is considered a Northwest Suburb of Chicago and the Northwest Line is the Metra train line that goes back and forth to Chicago from Crystal Lake. The train ride to downtown Chicago takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The NeighborhoodLake county Illinois Enjoy this brief sketch of the local history of Lake county IL. from 1801 to 1918. Stage Routes The 1st stage route from northern Illinois was to Janesville, Wisconsin, via of Chicago. The “stage driver.” says that he suffered a good many hardships, but he also had many funny, as well as amusing experiences; yet he had no trouble with the Indians. It took one week to make a round trip, consequently in those days they received mail once a week only. Not many letters were sent because the postage was $0.25 for each letter, and none of the letters were enclosed in envelopes. According to the Archives Traditions say that an Indian Chief, who is buried somewhere on the southern bank of the Lake, back of the Town Hall. The word translated from its Indian language means “Spirit Water”. Indians When the 1st settlers arrived, there were no Indians as they had moved westward. In 1840, a remnant of the Winnebago tribe lived on the shores of the Fox River and came to Lake county to trade. Several Indian mounds were found near here, and it is probable there was an encampment at Slocum Lake. The Lake In 1848, The 1st settler, built a home where the Town Hall now stands, and it was for him the lake was named. Organized in 1849. School In 1839, the school district was organized and a schoolhouse built. It stood where the Clark Hotel now stands. It was log, 20 feet long, and was heated by a fireplace in one end. Books used were Cobb’s speller, the Bible, 2nd and 3rd readers, and an arithmetic. Demographics Population in 1850 was 200, and the town had 3 good stores, 2 public houses, and various mechanics. Getting AroundThe city is close enough to walk to from the house. It's approximately two miles of sidewalks with tree lined streets. The city has all the amenities that anyone would need. The SpaceWe hope you will make yourself at home in this comfortable duplex. It is a casual space with room to spread out a little. The large sunny dining room opens to the spacious kitchen. If you enjoy cooking, help yourself to the herb garden, tomatoes & peppers, & quite possibly a watermelon! There is a TV in the living room that includes Netflix. The kitchen offers all the basic pots, pans & utensils, as well as coffee, tea, and basic condiments. There is a selection of books for both children & adults. Scrabble, cards ,games, etc.. There are lots of flowers, birds, butterflies as well as other wildlife. Great for photography. Parking for boat trailer. Guest AccessYou will have a separate & private entrance, in addition, a patio door off the dining room that leads to your private patio. You will also have a gas grill outside off the kitchen. You are welcome to bring a tent to camp out, additional guest fees apply. There are 2 adult bicycles for guests to use. Recreational fires are allowed in our fire pit per city ordinance. We have a washer & dryer available for guests. There is ample parking for your boat trailer here. Interaction with GuestsWe are generally available if you need us. We respect the amount of privacy you desire, however, if there is maintenance that needs to be attended to, you may see us around once in a while. The NeighborhoodA diverse & quiet neighborhood is out the front of the property, however your space ( patio, gardens, campfire etc... is in the rear of the property. You will feel like you are more in the "country". It is a farm-like setting & private out back. Getting AroundThere is a Metra Station here in town, & the nearby towns of Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Fox Lake as well. All will get you into the city of Chicago in about an hour or so.         Welcome to the Tower Lakes Guest House! This adorably little 1926 lake front cottage is completely renovated and ready to host your family. The kids loft is equipped with 2 twin beds, 2 double beds, 50 inch tv, Xbox, toys and an activity table. Everything to keep your little ones entertained and comfortable. Downstairs includes a fully stocked kitchen, table for 6, a 50 in tv with cable, Netflix and HBO, king bedroom and second bedroom with a full size crib and queen bed. The use of 2 kayaks is included in the rental. The house is located on 100 acre Tower Lake, a beautiful non-motorized lake 40 miles from Chicago. Across the street from the house is a public playground and a 5 minute walk will take you to the beach, tennis courts or play fields. Tower Lakes has excellent fishing and many public islands and trails to explore.

Your friendly host is on site and available for questions and concerns. The lower level apartment is fully prepared for a short or extended stay. Your hosts are somewhat retired and available. Guest AccessOur guests have full access to the lower level living area and can use a private entrance if they prefer. Interaction with GuestsMost times there is a host on site and are available to aid in questions and suggestions to area highlights. The NeighborhoodOur home is in a safe and welcoming neighborhood. We are located in an area with many lakes and recreational opportunities. Moraine Hills State Park is minutes away for hiking and picnics year round. Fox River is nearby for boating and jet skiing. We boost country living but easy access to the train that takes you to downtown Chicago. City dwellers come out and respite away for the weekend. Getting AroundParking is not a problem at this location, we have plenty of space available in our over sized driveway. We are happy to assist with getting around if you need directions. Other Things to NoteWe have a very friendly Golden Retreiver named, Murphy. He is very sweet and loves visitors, but don't worry he lives upstairs and will not be a bother to you.
