This residence is thirty feet from the St. Lawrence River, which offers good swimming, canoeing, boating and a beach. The large beach is ideal for children, located at the beginning of a very wide and shallow bay on the St. Lawrence River. The dock is suited for small watercraft, 25 feet or less, due to the shallow bay. We have a beach volleyball court on the second level of the 1.5 acre property, a paddleboat for the kids, a swimming raft anchored offshore, and a canoe to loan the adults. A kayak is available upon request. Swimming is a popular summer activity, especially in the deep water a few hundred yards offshore. We have a shallow wading area near the 68’ dock for younger kids. There is no river current in the wading area, and only a small current further offshore. Local winter activities include snowmobiling, hockey, skiing-both downhill and cross-country, ice fishing, snowshoeing, toboganning and skating. The super-insulated four-bedroom home was completed in January of 1999. If you are unfamiliar with an R-2000 home, it refers to a very high insulation standard used for custom-built energy efficient homes. Although the home was not registered as an R-2000 home, the insulation is of a comparable standard. Between this high-level of insulation, the numerous ceiling fans and the river breeze, the home can be very comfortable on a warm day in summer and cozy on a cold winter’s night, especially with the beautiful woodstove. The home has a huge ¼ acre “play area” behind the home with a beautiful manicured lawn. We have planted over 50 trees around the perimetre of the property including a dozen lilacs, an ash tree as well as apple, maple and oak trees. The gardens are beautiful. It is best that you visit and judge for yourself! The second level of the property has an over-sized beach volleyball court and a sitting area with picnic table. The building has majestic ten-foot ceilings on the main floor with huge windows in each room, all windows with a river view. The home has two full bathrooms, downstairs with a shower and upstairs with a jacuzzi tub/shower. Except for an area rug sometimes used in the dining room each winter, the home has beautiful maple hardwood floors throughout. The four-bedroom home is fully furnished including next-to-new beds, mainly antique bedroom furniture, colour television, satellite dish, VCR, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, fridge, stove, microwave and even a coffee maker! The couches are next-to-new. In contrast, most all of the remaining furniture is turn-of-the-century antiques. The antiques are mainly older, tough durable pieces, usually able to withstand a child’s curiosity. You have a gas barbecue, an integral part of a summer place and handy in the winter too! We have a fire pit available for campfires on non-windy days. The beds include a king size, queen size, double and two single beds as well as queen size murphy bed, we will provide a crib upon request if available. Please check with us as per your requirements and what we have available. There is plenty of closet space. You will have lots and lots of plates and utensils. “There is four higher end sitting chairs for outdoors in addition to at least another half dozen stacking chairs. Others can be made available upon request. You should like ours, however if you have a favourite one at home that travels easily, it may not hurt to bring it along J!” Facing the river we have a double veranda, 30 feet from the riverbank. It measures 24 feet long and eight feet wide and is accessible from the patio door downstairs. The upstairs veranda is the exact same size and adjoins the master bedroom. From our bay on the river, the upper deck boasts the best view of the off-shore islands and the American coast, two kilometres away. This is, after all, the beginning of the THOUSAND ISLANDS! The Great Lakes freighters pass by far across the river near the U.S. shore, and are lit up like Christmas trees at night. There are spectacular sunrises over the offshore islands. Occasionally the sunset will light up the islands in red or pink with their reflection on the mirror-like water. The spring tulips are beautiful and the incredible autumn colours are spectacular, depending on the exact week you rent and how quickly Mother Nature turns the colours of the leaves. For nature lovers there is excellent bird watching along the shore and in the local wooded areas. The host of birds includes woodpeckers, cardinals and the awesome local blue heron. Be sure to feed the baby ducks! We also offer you free movie rentals from our collection of over 120 films! We will try an accommodate you as best we can. For very large groups you will need to call for special pricing. In the summer the home is rented by the week and no weekend rentals. We do rent during the week and weekends at all other times rates from $395-$1195 depending on the days and size of your group. Please contact us and we would be glad to help you:) Located at the beginning of the 1000 Island on the majestic St. Lawrence River. Although they are fully-equipped homes, the vacation getaways have a true country flavour. We are located in a quiet rural area away from the hectic city life. Beautiful landscapes, terrific river views, spectacular sunrises, as well as the woodstove help you forget your troubles and unwind. We are happy to go the extra mile to make you vacation relaxed and stress free, whether you are coming from as close as Ottawa, Toronto or Montreal, or are one of our U.S. or European guests. We have a growing clientele that visit us as often as two or three times per year-often for a week in the summer and a weekend or two during other months of the year. They love the homes, the area and our customer service.

A charming tree-lined entrance greets you as you enter the Johnson Riverlee Estate from County Road #2. The Adams family owned the residence for over 150 years. The majestic five-bedroom stone home was built in the early 1800s. It is situated on three acres of land and has a beautiful panoramic waterfront view. From the home you can observe the big ships just south of the off-shore island and from the shoreline you have a terrific view of the Ogdensburg/Prescott International bridge to the west. The stately residence has a lovely eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, huge living room and two updated full bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. The home has new wiring and plumbing and is in good condition. Your guests will be impressed with the calibre of the accommodation. Hardwood/softwood floors are throughout most of the home, except of course the bathrooms and kitchen! Like the four-bedroom home, a washing machine and dryer is also available on site. Two canoe, a paddeboat and kayak are included in the rental fee. A second kayak and access to the double garage is available upon request. Many updates have been done to the building over the years including recently re-pointing all the exterior stone work-it looks brand new as well as a newer downstairs bathroom and laundry, expertly refinished floors in the living and dining room, new 200 amp breaker service, new wiring, new plumbing, and a new furnace. In the spring of 2006 we restored the upstairs of the home: We added new interior walls, vapour barrier, drywall and new bedroom closets and restored the pine floors. In 2008 we renovated the kitchen and the kitchen cupboards. We also added central air conditioning to keep you cool for those hot days of summer. Pretty gardens and mature trees punctuate the landscape. Over the last many months we have planted a dozen evergreen trees as well as oak, maple, birch and ash trees. All this investment has brought the property back up to the five-star accommodation it was many years ago and be yours to enjoy summer after spring, winter after autumn. We are positive you will like the home so much that you will want to come back, year after year! Along the shoreline we installed a covered canopy to protect you from the sun, allowing you to closely supervise the children as they play along the shoreline or paddle along in the paddleboat in the shallow bay. Take advantage of a canoe or kayak ride to the off-shore islands. Most are uninhabited and home to many small animals and deer. You will feel like you are a pioneer back in the 1700s! FYI: Years ago, the Adams family used to bring their cows to the closest large island each spring by swimming them across the shallow channel behind a small power boat. Therefore the nickname of the main island, Cow Island! The Riverlee Estate is located in a picturesque shallow bay, with very little boat traffic as the bay ends several hundred yards past the home. The shipping channel is two miles/three kilometres away from both homes, so there is no chance of someone being swamped in a canoe by the waves of a 1000 foot freighter. Bring your fishing rod, the fishing ranges from good to great! As mentioned, we have recently added hi-speed satelite internet. The vacation homes are fully equipped, having all modern conveniences including stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, colour televisions, vcr and fully-loaded satellite dish, and dishwashers and last but not least, a coffee maker. The vacation homes are equipped with touch-tone telephones. We have suitable lawn furniture, however if you have a favourite lawn chair you may want to bring it along. We suggest you bring your own flashlight as well as a barbecue lighter for the barbecue and outdoor fire pit. Technically you need a permit to burn outdoors, however if you are discreet with your campfire, it is not an issue. Bonfires are therefore out of the question! You also need to bring some kindling. We have lots of firewood, however a limited supply of kindling. Keep in mind that you have use of two canoe, a paddleboat and kayak included in the rental fee. We have six adult life jackets and a few children’s sizes. Since a loose fitting life jacket and a properly fitting life jacket will be the difference between life and death with a child, I would suggest you bring your own if you have ones that fit. Otherwise, go though our collection upon arrival and use all you can. The local hardware store has a good selection to fill in the difference. We may have some fishing gear on site, however cannot guarantee this. Fishing permits are available (nominal fee for Ontario residents/more for out of province/country) at the local McEwen gas bar, a short distance away. Pricing for Riverlee $1695 per week for June 29th to August 23rd $1295 per week for June and after August 23rd until Sept 30th $895 per week for from October 1st - June 1st except statutory holidays $495-$1295 per weekend $199-$599 per day Longer term rentals in off season months are available. For very large groups an additional charge is required. We are flexible and will work hard to accommodate you as much as we can. If planning a girl's get away or a family gathering let us know and we can help you arrange the details. Please note in the summer peak season we only rent on a weekly basis, Friday to Friday, for both July & August. Although we are six kilometres from the highway, we have a central location to four major cities, easily accessible by automobile. Kingston is an hour west and Toronto is 3.5 hours west. We are an hour south of Ottawa and less than two hours east of us to Montreal, 90 minutes from Montreal/Dorval Airport. There is also a bridge to the United States a few miles away. This rural part of America is home to beautiful landscapes and many tourist attractions. Although they are fully-equipped homes, the vacation getaways have a true country flavour. We are located in a quiet rural area away from the hectic city life. Beautiful landscapes, terrific river views, spectacular sunrises, as well as the woodstove help you forget your troubles and unwind.

The SpaceThree separate bedrooms, living room, 1950's kitchen and bathroom and our favourite room...the sun porch. Across the lawn and down a few steps you can sit and enjoy the beautiful river or enjoy a bonfire. Guest AccessGuests have access to the home with the exception of a portion of the basement. On Occasion we may access the water front while a guest is staying in the house, however we will provide notice. Interaction with GuestsInteraction will mostly be done via texting or calling. The NeighborhoodThe house is located 6 kilometers west of Prescott and 2 kilometeres east of Maitland. The house sits fairly close to county road 2 and occasionally you can hear a train in the distance.. if you go down to the river almost all the noise is blocked out by the hill and the swing is an awesome place for your morning coffee. Getting AroundThere is no public transit. The Town of Prescott does have a taxi service and you can get pizza delivery! Other Things to NoteThis is a 1950's cottage that has not undergone any major renovations. You will encounter some mild road noise and occasionally you can hear the trains or boats go by. We recommend closing the front bedroom windows at night to minimize the noise. It is very clean; however, there are signs of wear from years of enjoyment of life on the river. We recently purchased a filtration system to combat the hard water (that has left it's mark in the tub).... but now to us, it is a perfect little get-a-way. We are constantly making improvements to the house and property, we cannot always guarantee that we won't be in the midst of a project during your stay. We will try not to disturb you, however if it is necessary for us to access the property during your stay we will provide notice.

              Chalet
              3br Chalet
There is something magical about the St Lawrence Seaway. Whether it’s moonlight on a still night, a rainbow across the water signaling the end of a stormy day, or a vast ship slowly inching its way towards the great lakes, it is a different panorama every day. And Seaway Chalet is your lookout. This stunning property with its prow front and expansive lawns faces out onto the water so you are never any more than a few steps away from a view. Your vantage point could be the upper deck under the gazebo for some shade, from a patio table as you eat breakfast, from around the campfire on a starry night or sitting on the end of the dock, feet dangling in the water, with a fishing rod in hand. If this convinces you it’s a superb location, just head inside………… We’ll start on the lower level as this is probably the entrance way you’ll use the most. There is a large family room with wall mounted TV, comfortable seating and a games table, as well as one of the bedrooms (with a queen bed). For those wanting to keep up their fitness routine there is a treadmill, weights and a smaller TV/DVD in the gym area. Select one of the fitness DVDs and off you go. Head upstairs to the great room and you’ll be immediately taken with the vast windows overlooking the water. The beautifully equipped kitchen overlooks the lawned rear gardens while the dining area offers more views. Sliding doors lead to the main deck that has everything for outdoor living – a gazebo with adjustable panels to manage your levels of shade; dining table for al fresco meals, a BBQ, and a gate to keep your furry friend from heading to the water on a whim. There are two more bedrooms on the main level – the master has an ensuite and there is a further full bathroom. Stairs lead to the loft where you’ll find more couches – this makes a comfortable reading area or space for the kids to sleep. All in all, we think this is a fabulous location and property. You will notice the road to the house leads to a further property so you may occasionally see a vehicle pass between the house and the water, but this is unlikely to impact your vacation. And did I mention there is a boat launch right there so if you have your own boat, it’s a breeze to launch it and park the trailer close-by? And one other thing….do you fish? If so, you’ll be out on the water every day and maybe bringing your catch home for supper as the fishing is excellent. The owner will leave you some hints on where the best spots are. Finally, the swimmers in your group will love it too. You can wade out from the shoreline and swim out to deeper water for some good refreshing exercise…or bring some floaters and just relax. You are on vacation! Additional amenities include: ac/central yes, fireplace, wood/gas yes, short stays yes.
