Guest AccessYou are right on the beach which you share with guests in the tiny house on the same lot. Interaction with GuestsWe try to greet guests and see them at check out. Otherwise, degree of interaction depends on their preference. In the past, it has ranged from a quick hello to dinners together and lasting friendships. The NeighborhoodWe have wonderful neighbors who are just the right amount of friendly. They are mostly away in the winter, but return each spring with stories to tell. Getting AroundYou really need a car to get around the island, but occasionally someone arrives by boat, which is always fun. Other Things to NoteWe've been using this house as a vacation rental for almost twenty years, staying here ourselves only occasionally for a week or three, but each time there is a full moon, we get a little envious of our guests. It's just a lovely spot to stay in for a while.

The SpaceThe rooms are technically Rosario Resort rooms. What many people don't know is that most of Rosario rooms are privately owned and rented through the resort. I chose to not structure rentals through Rosario - I love the condos, stay here often, and prefer lower rental volume to guests from the trusted community vs. high volume of generic hotel guests. For you it means: a great deal - much better setup and ambiance at lower price than Rosario :) The rooms are fully furnished and newly decorated and have electric fireplaces, new TVs with streaming, blu-ray and cable, towels, home basics, and kitchen utensils. Four queen beds, a queen murphy bed, and a futon will luxuriously sleep 5 people, very comfortably 8 people (2 per bed), and comfortably 10 people (+ 2 on the murphy bed and possibly someone on the futon). Full kitchen will save you money on basic cooking (though you really should enjoy the island's amazing restaurants), and the trail to Cascade Lake is right outside the condo's door. Three rooms can be locked from each other, becoming three private hotel-style rooms with: 1) a queen bed; 2) two queen beds 3) a bedroom with a queen bed and a living room with a queen murphy bed, a futon, and kitchen. Each unit has a deck with a premium view. The rooms are wheelchair accessible and come with free parking. Walk to Rosario Mansion or Cascade Lake in minutes! Come and enjoy the #1 destination in North America! Make sure to look through all the photos for things to see and do while on the island - you can visit all the places and do all the activities shown in the photos over a weekend if you go for it! All the photos in this posting are mine, taken with a regular Canon point-and-shoot and Canon 60D cameras. Guest AccessRosario Resort and Moran State Park: Enjoy late drinks or late brunch at the Rosario Mansion and walk "home" in five minutes! The main trail to all the lakes, waterfalls, and the mountain starts literally at your doorsteps. Rosario's bar pool has wonderful views and setting, and Rosario's indoor pool, outdoor lap pool, and sauna require a $25 resort fee per person and $40 per couple. Interaction with GuestsMost likely I won't be there, but the place is made and the key is in a coded box. You'll enjoy the place as if you're staying at Rosario (well, just make your own beds in the morning). Per guests' feedback, I installed three coded boxes - one for each room (now no one can ever get locked out, even if you ran to the lake and forgot your keys inside, while your friends and family went to town). The NeighborhoodRosario Resort and Moran State Park! Upon request - I will send you a very detailed insider-scoop list of things to do, places to see, restaurants to eat at, and opportunities not to miss! Getting AroundBring your own car to explore the entire island. Or if you're fine with just the beautiful lake, Moran State Park, and Rosario Resort - you can walk to all of those in minutes. If you're flying in on a seaplane from Lake Union in Seattle or coming in by boat - you'll be able to walk to the condo from the Rosario dock in five minutes or less. Usually, if the Orcas Island Beach Cottage is not booked, guests in the tiny house have access to the large decks of the Beach Cottage as well as their own small deck. Interaction with GuestsWe are usually around to welcome guests and to attend to any extra needs/wants they might have. One of our favorite things is getting to know people from around the world as well as from the Pacific Northwest. The NeighborhoodOur small neighborhood has mostly single family houses, which are mostly occupied during the summer and shoulder months, when the beach is at its best. There are fewer neighbors here during the winter, but winter can be wonderful if you like to watch storms over the water while you are sitting by the fire. The Studio is in a 1 acre fenced area, great for my dog Cash. If you bring your dog, I just ask that he/she stay fairly clean. There are also trails around Killebrew Lake. I'd be glad to show. Perfect for a quiet retreat, there is certain to be a book on the book shelves to enjoy! Other Things to NoteAdditional $20.00 / night for each guest over 2.

The SpaceCome enjoy Orcas Island in our sweet cabin in beautiful Olga Valley. Your home away from home, this cabin is nestled in our seven acre plot of paradise. The dwelling is a perfect combination of rustic elegance, newly built and modern, yet unique and and simple. Handcrafted with love, lots of wood, and fantastic attention to detail. The cabin is a one room open floor plan with lots of windows and natural light, combining living, dining and kitchen space with a sleeping loft, or a futon if you prefer to sleep in the main space. The kitchen is modern and supplied with all you may need for your cooking pleasure. Windows look out on the land, with open fields, fruit trees and landscaped gardens. Your experience of island living will be topped off by our beautiful bath house/bathroom only steps away from your cabin. The bath house has heated floors and a six foot claw foot tub for luxurious bathing. A private outdoor shower is just around to the back. Our home is near by, but once you are in the cabin it feels completely private, as there are no windows facing us; you will feel as though you are alone in your little piece of heaven. The entire space is very warm and homey, to give you a comfortable place to land after your day exploring the island. Great for adventure people, the cabin is just a few miles from Moran State Park, which is rich with hiking and biking trails, waterfalls and lakes for swimming and fishing. You can even get a trail ride by horse through the forest. We are also close to the famous Doe Bay Resort, which offers a gorgeous spa experience of hot tubs and a wood sauna perched on the edge of the Salish Sea (day pass only $15.00), as well as the fabulous farm-to-table restaurant which offers delicious meals created from local farm fresh veggies, fruits and seafood. They feature frequent live music and yoga classes, as well as the popular Doe Bay Festival, which happens mid-August. Kayak tours may also be organized from Doe Bay to explore Orcas from the water. Even closer to home, your cabin is just a short walk away to a beach with views of the islands and the Olympics, and the bay which holds Buck Bay Shellfish farm, where you can buy fresh fish, crab, clams and oysters, and even sit at their picnic table in the sun and shuck a few with the glorious bay view. (Closed in the winter) Sound fantastic? We think so! We love our island, our home, and our land, and we would love to share this little piece of paradise with you. Come, step out of time and into your dreams. Guest AccessWi-Fi. Fully stocked kitchen. Outdoor bath house with heated floors, claw foot tub, and outdoor shower. BBQ. Outdoor eating and sitting area. Spotty Cell reception on our land- much of the island has no reception at all. Two miles down the road there is good reception. Interaction with GuestsWe live close by, and I am a long time resident of Orcas, so I am happy to share my favorite places and island secrets. If you want to talk, I am happy to. The NeighborhoodOlga Valley has a rural out-of-time peace to it. We have been living on this land for seven years, and are surrounded by long time neighbors and friends. It is a special place. Very safe, very sweet. Getting AroundI recommend that you rent a car to explore the island. We live about a half an hour from the ferry landing, and fifteen minutes from "town". Other Things to NoteThe cabin can sleep up to 4 people if both the bed and futon are occupied. It would be an intimate overlap, but great for people who do not mind getting cozy. Above two people there is a $20 charge per person per night. The dome you see in the pictures is currently unavailable, and occupied by my well behaved 17 year old son. . The bathhouse building is half your bathroom, and half Kevin's part time office. The bathroom side is private only to you. Both Kevin and I work from home, on work related projects and land projects. And we have a very sweet kitty cat that will probably want to come say hello to you.

The SpaceThe room is technically Rosario Resort room. What many people don't know is that most of Rosario rooms are privately owned and rented through the resort. I chose to not structure rentals through Rosario - I love my condos, stay here often, and prefer lower rental volume to guests from the trusted community vs. high volume of generic hotel guests. For you it means: a great deal - much better setup and ambiance at lower price than Rosario :) The room is fully furnished, newly decorated, and has electric fireplace, TV with DVD player and cable, microwave, coffee maker, plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, remote-controlled electric candles, and bluetooth player/alarm clock. Make sure to follow this link to look at the photos of the entire property, surrounding area, and things to do and see on the island: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3963855 Guest AccessRosario Resort and Moran State Park: Enjoy late drinks or late brunch at the Rosario Mansion and walk "home" in five minutes! The main trail to all the lakes, waterfalls, and the mountain starts literally at your doorsteps. Rosario's bar pool has wonderful views and setting, and Rosario's indoor pool, outdoor lap pool, and sauna require a $25 resort fee per person and $40 per couple. Interaction with GuestsI may be there, but if not - the place is made and the key is in a coded box. You'll enjoy the place as if you're staying at Rosario (well, just make your own beds in the morning). The NeighborhoodRosario Resort and Moran State Park! Getting AroundBring your own car to explore the entire island. Or if you're fine with just the beautiful lake, Moran State Park, and Rosario Resort - you can walk to all of those in minutes. The SpaceNestled into the bluffs above Rosario Resort, the Perch is close to neighboring amenities, yet very private. This recently built contemporary cabin was designed for this spectacular view location as a relaxing retreat – a light filled aerie in summer and cozy nest in the cooler weather. Our custom home features friendly sustainable materials and modern fixtures. Cork floors, vaulted wood ceiling, paper stone counters. An open living area with kitchen, dining and reading nook provides flexibility for all your activities while two private bedrooms encourage sleeping in! The full kitchen is small, well provisioned and handy with an island and separate coffee/wine bar. Cooks love the organized layout and complimentary basic pantry items: assortment of spices, basic condiments and starter coffee setup (we have a coffee grinder as well, thanks to a guest suggestion) The custom live-edge elm dining table, salvaged from Pt. Defiance Park in Tacoma, seats six. The living area includes a wood fireplace for cool evenings and comfortable furnishings as well as a console complete with books, puzzles, games and a media center... if you just can't leave the continent behind. You will find a flat HD screen with Sony blue ray DVD/internet streaming player… with instructions! We provide a landline phone for domestic use by our guests in case of weak cell signal by some providers and your stay includes free WIFI. Tall banks of glass patio doors open from the living area to the south facing sun deck with summer breezes and San Juan archipelago vistas. Celebrate an alfresco dinner on the south facing sun deck or nestle into the chaise lounge to catch up on your vitamin D and magazines. Accessed from the kitchen, a deck with a BBQ grill faces a private side yard bordered by a cascade of rocky ledges and overhanging maple trees. A picnic table serves as a great base for teens contemplating pine cone wars. Nearby, a fire pit with island-built furniture offers warmth and camaraderie on cool evenings. Complimentary firewood is stacked for your use. All you need to bring are s’more fixings and tall tales. The bedrooms at Perch are separated by a full bath and laundry area. One bedroom has a queen size bed. The second bedroom offers twin XL beds. All beds are triple sheeted with comfy duvets and 100% cotton bedding. Each bedroom has a full length mirror and wardrobes with drawers. The living area offers a "Comfort Sleeper" true queen-size sofa-bed. A personal favorite is the reading nook where naps are not only encouraged, but expected. The bath features a deep soaking tub/shower, dual-flush toilet, room for all your toiletries and a good view to the rockery behind! The laundry area includes a stacking washer/dryer with complimentary bio-friendly detergent and extra bedding. We look forward to your stay at Perch. Our guest reviews often note how comfortable the home is. We hope you agree. Guest AccessPerch is indeed perched on a hillside, accessed from Ocean Mist Way, a one lane road. There is a steep driveway to the home with a turnaround and room for two cars at the top by the front door. A pullout below provides for additional parking. The house is accessed from the parking area by a set of steps leading to the entry porch. A keybox by the front door allows guest access at their convenience. We'll provide the code with the Arrival Information packet. Interaction with GuestsWe'll prepare the house for you before you arrive. Michele, your on-island local host, can answer your questions and troubleshoot if needed. We'll have a binder full of house info and local insight on things to do here on Orcas. We can't wait to tell you about them ALL! Let us know of any special interests you might have and we'll do our best to match you with an island connection! The NeighborhoodPerch is located in a quiet neighborhood, overlooking and a stroll away from the historic Rosario Resort, where you'll find boating, dining, and spa amenities year round in an early 1900s setting. In the bustling summer season, you can get a pass to the pools, enjoy their Marina Bar & Grill, rent a kayak and even take whale watching trips. Walk to the nearby trailhead for a vigorous hike up to Cascade Lake and Moran State Park trails. Watch from our sunny view deck for frequent visitors that include bald eagles and deer. Getting AroundThe quaint village of Eastsound is a ten minute drive away, with great shops, dining and the best book store ever. Really. There are island taxis, car rentals and a summer Island Shuttle available from the ferry landing and Rosario Resort... and some guests have been known to arrive by Kenmore Air floatplane from Seattle, landing at the Rosario dock, just below Perch! Other Things to NoteSummer (Memorial Day thru Labor Day) in the Rosario neighborhood is alive with the Rosario Resort marina below Perch bustling with activity. Sound can drift up from below, but the vibe is fun and friendly and typically respectful of the neighborhood. The picturesque island offers so many natural beautiful places to explore, local artist galleries to visit and amazing restaurants that inexplicably inhabit this remote magical place. Organic roadside farmstands, along with the Saturday Farmer's Market in Eastsound, provide the staples for lovely dinners on Perch's sun deck overlooking the San Juan Islands. There is also a co-working space, 376, in Eastsound for those that need a focused space for doing business from the island. Off Season (Sept - May) at Perch is more quiet and lovely through the changing seasons. Weather rolls in while you are cozy by the fireplace. Sleeping in and daily hikes and perhaps a mushroom hunt in Moran State Park beckon. Fall and spring bring many local favorites, such as the Chili Cook Off in September, the April Shakespeare festival or the Orcas Island Film Festival in October.
