      A restored 1930s house with garden and forest surrounds. Many wonderful features exist both within walking distance of the property and within a 30 minute drive. If you want to escape the tourist trail and experience the real NZ do stay here! The air is clean and it has stunning views! The people are friendly and peaceful. The Space This home has everything you could want for a peaceful getaway retreat into nature. The property is within and surrounded by wilderness. There is a flowing healthy river at the bottom boundary and a waterfall up the valley. Native birds, including Kiwi are in the area and can be heard at night. Giant trees, epic sand dunes, the stunning Hokianga Harbour and so much more is all within a 30 minute drive. There is a 3 night minimum stay policy but you will need a week or more to see all that this area has to offer. The general manager of the property lives a few kilometers up the road and will be there to check you in and see to all necessary details. Getting around Unfortunately the public transport is limited. You will need a car to arrive at the property and explore the area. Other Things to Note This house is sparsely but selectively furnished and has a very fresh feel.       The SpaceThe cottage has been renovated recently and has a warm welcoming, homely feel with its decor in a beautiful simple but charming country style. You will find an open kitchen/living space, two good size bedrooms with plenty of cupboard space, a small bathroom and a very practical laundry. There is plenty of space to host a family or up to 5 guests. A cot/babybed is available as well . This house has everything you might need , the kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and cooking ware. The deck and garden are there for you to use . There are fresh herbs growing just outside the front door and kids will find toys and coloring books to keep busy on a rainy day. Fresh daily milk is available from the farm. You are welcome to watch us milk the cows or stroll through the paddocks to see the amazing views from the top of the hill. Guest AccessYou have the complete cottage to yourselves, with adjoining deck and garden . Our farm is located 45km north of Dargaville, just 7km north of Trounson Kauri Park. The cottage is close to the rural road and there is parking right outside of your accommodation. You are welcome to come onto the farm and watch us milk the cows and feed the small calves. The cottage is part of an operating dairyfarm, the surrounds are rural and there are no shops close by. What you will see here frequently is cows, paddocks, dark stary nights, farm machinery and more cows. Interaction with GuestsWe offer kids the options of coming to pet the calves and we are generally open to questions if someone is interested in the farming operation. We are there to help out with recommendations and tips if you want, or we will leave you to your own if you prefer privacy. The NeighborhoodWe are up in kaiparas hillcountry and here we overlook the surrounding farmland . From the hilltops you can see the coastline and Waipoua Forest and see a huge part of the Dargaville district. The area is rural with dairy and beef farms all around. Getting AroundWe are 45 km from Dargaville. There are no public transport options close by. we are not in town, there are no shops or cafes, no traffic or even close by neighbours. It is truly "rural". There are paddocks, cows and tractors. Other Things to NoteThere are plenty of things to do and see: hiking to the Manganui Bluff to overlook the coastline, swimming at Kai Iwi Lakes, Mountain biking down the Gorge Road, fishing from the wharf in Opononi, visit Trounson Park and Waipoua Forest, relaxing in the hot pools at Ngawha Springs, discover our farmbushwalks or see the waterfalls .           The SpaceDownstairs has two bedrooms - the first one has a queen bed with French doors opening on to a deck & overlooks the harbour. This can be setup as a cosy studio apartment. Bedroom two, also opening onto the deck with harbour views has a king single bed and a double sofa bed. The open plan living area has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer & microwave. The living area has two ranch sliders opening onto the deck & stunning views to the harbour entrance and sand dunes. TV with Sky (cable) & DVD player with a range of DVDs to choose from. Also downstairs there are two bathrooms, both with shower, toilet & vanity. Upstairs is an open plan room with queen bed. Doors open on to a deck with stunning views, facing west for unbeatable sunsets. This spacious room is also set up with a kitchenette, extra fridge/freezer and table and chairs. Perfect for a bit of quiet time for those bringing a laptop/work with them, or a sit down dinner with picturesque views. The house can also be setup as a one bedroom studio apartment. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire house as well as a private stairway to the beach. . We have a great BBQ and can attest that nothing beats frying up some fresh fish from one of the local fishermen on the BBQ with a view of the ocean it was caught from. Interaction with GuestsGuests have the entire property to themselves for ultimate privacy but we are a short phone call or txt away for help or advice (the best of both worlds!) The NeighborhoodThe Hokianga district is full of awesome activities to fill your days which makes it perfect for a family or group of friends- There are two local pubs which serve fantastic food and cold drinks, an unbeatable fish and chip shop and there is a very well stocked supermarket nearby so you don't have to worry about forgetting any essentials. There are many businesses offering activities for you to try, including boat rides to the and hills (boogie-boarding down the hills is a must-do) and the night-tour of Tane Mahuta by Footprints Waipoua has been named one of Lonely Planet's top responsible travel experiences in the world. Waitangi and the Bay of Islands is just a short drive away and is a perfect day-trip for anyone wanting to experience a bit of important NZ history. Of course if keeping busy isn't your cup of tea, our private, quiet beach house is perfect for simply opening up the doors and listening to the waves over a cup of tea and a good book Other Things to NoteBecause, as much as we would like to, we can't control the weather, we have made sure to keep the house well stocked with books, magazines and board games which can make for a perfect day, cosy in the living room with the rain on the huge windows.           The SpaceOur cosy yet modern cottage is situated on the hilltop with endless views of the beautiful Northland countryside. The cottage has an open kitchen, lounge and dining area - perfect for socializing with both friends and family. Sliding doors lead out to a beautiful open wooden deck - perfect for tea in the morning in good weather, otherwise there is a covered back deck in case of inclement weather. Guest AccessThere is a short drive 2.7km on metal road and driveway from the main road to the cottage. The driveway is fairly steep but worth it when you get to the top to see the views. Our cottage has ample parking. Take a walk around the farm using the farm map as a guide. Interaction with GuestsWe offer all of our guests advice on what to do in the local area, such as taking a 3-hour hike on the Manganui Bluff trail to Aranga Beach where they can pick mussels for dinner from the rocks on the shore. Feel free to borrow our body boards and skim boards - perfect for sliding down the enormous sand dunes or skimming along the tide. Be aware though that the west cost beaches have very strong underwater rips. We can provide directions for beautiful scenic walks, such as the Waipoua Forest walk where visitors can view the majestic kauri tree (Tane Mahuta), or walk through the magnificent Traunson Park. The NeighborhoodOur cottage is on a peaceful and tranquil farm with neighbouring farmers, although you may find that your closest neighbour may well be a horse or a cow! Country life at its best! Other Things to NoteThe beautiful Kai iwi Lakes are just a 30 minute drive from the cottage and are well worth a visit, and take a dip in the clear-blue tranquil waters of the lake. The local Kaihu tavern serves a lovely meal most nights with a friendly atmosphere.

                                    Our beautiful beachfront bach is a slice of kiwi heaven! Positioned direct beachfront with a long lawn sweeping down to the white sand you will enjoy wonderful views of the Hokianga harbour. Charming character and European inspired interiors provide simple beachfront living with polished kauri floorboards, European shutters and a big verandah perfect for a quiet drink watching the sun go down at the end of the day. We eat all our meals out here most of the year. A simple original kitchen provides all the amenities you require. There are two bedrooms, one with a near new good quality queen bed and the second has two singles with room for an air bed. Our garden chalet was built last year and this provides sleeping accommodation for up to five additional people over two floors. Due to the steepness of the ladder to the loft this is not ideal for young children. There is a single garage and big lawns. We are a couple of doors along from the Copthorne hotel so perfect for family groups attending weddings etc. Swimming outside our house is superb plus you can fish from the beach or the wharf. We are the only bach at this sheltered end of the beach which has its own private garden and is genuine beachfront. There are a number of activities to enjoy in the surrounding area. We would recommend visitors try the night Kauri forest tours, Rawene with it galleries and great café or catch the car ferry to Kohu Kohu for the historic walk or lunch at the excellent café.                                         Our Cottage is located in the hill country, 45km north of Dargaville. It is furnished in a charming warm country style that makes you feel welcome from the first moment you enter. Fresh flowers, books, tv, internet, games, toys and coloring books for kids...... our accommodation is fully equipped with just about everything you can think of. A big deck provides outdoor space for your breakfast in the morning sun or a barbecue watching the sun setting over the farm hills. If you love to watch the stars, there is no light pollution at our location. You are welcome to use the small garden surrounding the cottage, there are even fresh herbs for you to use. Families are very welcome. There is plentiful space for Kids to play on the deck or lawn. With parental supervision they can discover the paddocks or go and watch the cows being milked at the cowshed. If you are looking for a place to relax or you are wanting to discover the multiple walking tracks and tourist attractions this area has to offer, you will love our unique little spot. From the house you can stroll through the farm down to walk the historical Gorge Road which was closed after Cyclone Bola. Trounson Kauri Park is only 7km down the road from us with its famous Kauri boardwalk. Trounson Park is part of the "Mainland Island" Program which is protecting indigenous key species like the brown kiwi. Here you can book a nightwalk to spot the iconic bird. The Kai Iwi Lakes are about 30 min drive away and are a beloved Northland destination for swimming, waterskiing, troutfishing and boating. The nearby Maunganui Bluff walk is a 3-4hour return hike and offers stunning views along the coastline and over the North Kaipara. Other destinations are the Hokianga Harbour and Opononi, Ngawha springs with its hot volcanic pools to relax in, and Waipoua Forest with the biggest Kauri Tree New Zealands. The huge deck is fully fenced (no access from outside, only through house), and is a very relaxing area for BBq's and watching the sun go down in the evenings. There is lots to do in the local area from fishing off the beach, wharf, rocks or boat (plenty of parking here for a boat and boat ramp just along the road), cafes and resturants - Copthorne is just 2 minutes walk along the road. Take a boat trip around the harbour and go boogie boarding down the sand dunes. Visit the mighty Tane Mahuta (giant kauri tree) or sit back with a book on the sunny deck. The children will enjoy the play ground and beach just across the road.
