The SpaceAn older 3 bedroom home full of character and artwork. House overlooks the Hokianga Harbour and has a deck you can enjoy. Make as much noise as you like as I sleep through anything and enjoy hearing people laugh and have a good time. As the price suggests, this is budget accommodation, the outside of the house needs a paint, but 80% of the inside has been freshened up with a coat of paint and all the old carpet removed. Guest AccessFree wireless broadband. Board games, Jigsaw puzzles and books. Fridge/ Freezer. Complimentary tea, coffee and sugar and (milk, eggs and fruit on your first night) provided. There is no direct access to the beach from this property, but I have made arrangements with my neighbours who have access to the beach from their properties. Interaction with GuestsI live downstairs in a self contained flat with my two dogs. I leave it up to my guests to decide how much they would like to interact with us. I err on the side of staying out of your way, but would love to come up and chat or answer questions if invited. The dogs will probably come up to the gate at the deck when they hear you out there, that is also up to you how much you would like to interact or play with them. If people come down to the back lawn, I will usually come out and check that they are okay about the dogs and make sure the dogs don't get too excited, and I prefer to be out there with the dogs if children are playing with them. The NeighborhoodAlthough the house is on the main State Highway it is quiet and private. It is only 1km from the Opononi wharf, boat ramp and beach. It is about 30km out to the Waipoua forest and the large Kauri tree (Tane Mahuta). It is about 8km to the Labyrinth puzzle museum and waterfall walk. There as many walks and interesting places, Signal Station road, Koutu boulders, Waimamaku beach, to name just a few, there are also several nice café in the area and some good art galleries in Rawene and Kohukohu. Getting AroundUnfortunately there is not really any public transport in the Hokianga. Your best option from the airport would be to get a rental car. You can park your car's and boats etc, off the road, in front of the house. Other Things to NoteYou are welcome to bring your dogs if they are house trained or stay outside and they socialise well with other dogs.

Sand boarding is always a favourite just a short ferry trip to the giant sand dunes. Fishing is popular either from the wharves at Omapere or Opononi or if you're more adventurous, you can target the big game fish waiting outside the Heads. Great diving spots for that cray in the harbour or outside. Also visit Koutu Boulders a very short drive from Opononi - see boulders over 5 meters high. There is so much to see and do in the Hokianga you'll be wanting to come back again - after all Hokianga does mean "the returning place"! I get on with my life so you can get on with your stay, But if you would like to ask questions, or talk about the area, or talk about your holiday etc, just sing out. Generally they stay with me, if you prefer them to be kept completely away from you or any of your guests during your stay please do let me know in advance. You are welcome to bring your own dogs if they are house trained or will stay outside. This is an older 3 bedroom home full of character and art work. It has been partly renovated, about 80% of the inside has been painted, all the carpet has been removed leaving wooden floors. As it is still a work in progress, I have kept my prices lower to reflect this as budget accommadation. I have listed as child friendly, but please note that a couple of things may not meet current child health and safety regulations. ? At this stage, not all the deck railing would meet this standard, and until I get the thermostat fixed the hot water is often too hot. ? As long as you understand that some care and supervision is required, I will accept your booking with children. There are board games available in the lounge, a box of old toys in the wardrobe of the first bedroom and jigsaw puzzles in the top of the wardrobe in the master bedroom.
