The SpaceThe view is outstanding, across the Bay to Russell. The seascape is ever changing as is the lighting. Watch yachts and cruisers come and go, cutting pathways through the blueness of the sea. It can be difficult to drag yourself away from such an amazing sight. For those musically inclined, there is a guitar (sort of kiwi tradition really). Why not immerse all of your senses. Take a walk in the garden, stop and smell the roses, find a meditation spot, or pick yourself some fresh herbs to make a cup of tea (mint is a favorite). Handpick some fruit or maybe pluck some fresh lettuce leaves, you never know what might be in season. The studio is magical and you will find yourself totally absorbed in its peacefulness and ambiance. The kitchenette has everything you need to cook a meal. There is also a colouring book and pencils for those wanting to do some mind therapy. Guest AccessThere is onsite parking (on the right beside the wishing well), or your car will be quite safe on the roadside. Its about a 5 minute drive to Paihia. If you are walker, it takes about 30 - 40 minutes to walk into Paihia. If the tide is out, you can enjoy the stroll via the coastline. Kerikeri is about a 15 minute drive away or head south for a 45 minute drive to Whangarei. There is room to park a boat if you have one. If you are a fisher person and catch a fish or two, I have the perfect little smoke house and I can prepare a secret brine - smoked fish like you have never tasted before. Interaction with GuestsI work from home (I write) and I am usually on hand and happy to answer any questions, suggest things to do and see, or if I am not busy, I'm happy to chat, or share a wine or a beer. Depending on my time, I am also happy to cook and share an evening meal, or in some cases, treat you to the best home cooked roast you have ever had, (I'm also pretty good on vegetarian dishes too if that is your calling). Again, time depending I may be able to take you on a drive to some of my favorite spots, or have a picnic at the beach, or go fishing. If you just want to be on your own, then so be it. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is very peaceful. My street is a cul de sac and generally the only traffic that comes down the road are locals or people who are lost. Just down the bottom of the hill by the Te Haumi Bridge is a walking track to Opua. It meanders through bush and along the beaches and is truly beautiful. Its about an 1.5 hours walk one way. Getting AroundIdeally, having a vehicle is great. However, it is a lovely walk to Paihia (about 30-40 minutes). I travel up and down to Paihia frequently so happy to take you to the supermarket so you don't have to worry about carrying groceries, etc.

The SpaceWhen relaxation is top of your bill, this is the place for you. My place is imbued with a positive vibration that just feels good. Peaceful, quiet, and an outstanding view some say is priceless. The unit is very homely so you can just be yourself. Good double bed and comfy lounge area. The sofa converts to an extra bed if required. The kitchenette is fully equipped with all the basic cooking utensils you need and if I can always help out if there is anything else you need. Charcoal bbq available as well. Excellent shower in the private ensuite. Open the ranch slider and take in the view or have a wander in the garden. It is the perfect environment for people who like to take time to smell the roses as well as enjoy the beauty of the Bay of Islands. Guest AccessGenerally off street parking available. Interaction with GuestsI am always happy to have a chat, provide recommendations to suit your desires, and share my local knowledge. Always a possibility that I may invite you to savour a wonderful home cooked meal with me - I get rave reviews for my kiwi lamb roast and my pizzas are held in high regard. The unit is downstairs from my living area and has separate access. I work from home so I am usually around if you need anything. The NeighborhoodPuketiro Place is a very quiet no exit street so not a lot of traffic or noise. My neighbors, mostly semi retired are generally around so the place is relatively secure as we all keep an eye out for each other. Getting AroundIdeally you need to have your own transport as I am about a 5-8 minute drive to Paihia. It may not sound far but there are two rather steep hills to negotiate if walking. If you don't have transport I am happy to drop you off and pick you up from Paihia, and if I am not too busy with my work I can take you on excursions to some of the local attractions. The SpaceA large room which has a single bed and a Queen size mattress. It is budget because we have just moved into this house and so are still working on the rest of the house as well as on the property. Bathroom + your room are tidy and spacious. Kawakawa is home to the famed Hundertwasser toilets but also has a high Maori population + is only 10 km from the Bay of Islands coast. Our house is in a quiet street and a 5 min walk through a park into the centre of the town which has mini-markets, a chemist, restaurants + take aways, library, garages, and so on. Northland's heated swimming pool is only a 3 min walk up the street. The drive way is very steep but there is plenty of free parking on the street. There is no wheelchair access but we will assist guests if they need help with carrying luggage from their car or assistance with walking. It depends on what you want. You can arrive until midnight (and later if prearranged) and the room is beside the front door, so access is easy. Breakfast is possible either in your room, on the deck or in the kitchen. No strict departure time unless we have other guests arriving. The large guest room has a Queen size bed and a single bed , a desk, wifi (+ you can borrow a laptop to use in the bedroom. It runs on XP), and you have access to the rest of the house as much as you wish - although at the moment it is in a bit of chaos with stacked boxes, clothing and young children. The bathroom (with toilet + shower) is shared. There is a lock on the door. There is an extra charge if an extra change of linen is required during your stay. We have 3000m2 section (mostly steep/swamp with some trees) and the guests are welcome to explore any of this as well having free access to the deck which overlooks this. There are tables and chairs on the deck. Smoking on the porch or the deck is fine as long as you do not throw cigarette butts into the garden. We are artists ( (URL HIDDEN) + senbyscul(URL HIDDEN) designers + translators, who have lived in the Netherlands for the past 25 years and we have just bought this place, so we in the midst of making it look charming. The guest room is comfortable and quiet and features original paintings + prints. We have traveled extensively throughout Europe + Asia and are happy to give advice about where to go in Northland. In particular we can give some insights into our Maori indigenous culture as well as historical locations. We generally would leave the guests to do what they want and they can use the kitchen or deck as they wish but we expect that they will be off exploring the Bay of Islands coastline, forests and activities in the area. We do not provide an evening meal unless arranged. Breakfast is an extra charge. When you make your booking specify what type of breakfast you would like. Toast, muesli or continental style. More is here (URL HIDDEN) The Bay of Islands Vintage Railway runs a steam train through the middle of the town of Kawakawa Fridays to Sundays during the summer months 10 km towards Opua. Soon the connection with the coast will be complete, but in the meantime the stories of the history of the area (Maori + colonial) are worth the hour long journey through stunning scenery. More: (URL HIDDEN) More well known are the toilets made by the famed ecologist and artist, Hundertwasser. This was his last artwork and only architectural wonder in the southern hemisphere. Open for use 24 hours a day More: (URL HIDDEN) The Kawiti glow worm caves are 10 km south of Kawakawa. The historic Ruapekapeka pa (with forest walks) is 20 km south of Kawakawa. Bicycles can be hired in Opua and Paihia for the cycle ways along the coast. The drive way is very steep and there are 6 steps to the main door. If you are alone and need assistance walking we can help. It is a quiet relaxed town, lovely for a stroll and the spirit of the place is something unique. There is public transport to Kerikeri (30 min north) + Paihia ... more to be added with links and details. Guest AccessYou can check in and out when you please if bookings allow for this. The bathroom (with toilet and shower) and kitchen, living room and the deck which overlooks the 3000m2 property we are working on turning into something interesting. You are welcome to the garden and grounds but we assume that you would spend your time at the town attractions (the steam train, the Hunterwasser toilets, the kawiti caves, the Ruapekapeka historic Maori pa), the bays of islands coast, the nearby forests or historic sites. Interaction with GuestsWe leave the guests to themselves and meals are only supplied if arranged. We work at computers in the living room or on the property outside or in the gallery in the town. We have a broad knowledge of Aotearoa | New Zealand and the website (URL HIDDEN) has some suggestions and more information. The NeighborhoodKawakawa is 10 km from a stunning coastline, 5km north of Maori run glow worm caves, 20 km north of the historic Ruapekapeka pa and is located in the centre of a number of historic sites. The town has a steam train that runs down the middle of the main street and one day will be completed to reach the coast. Getting AroundA list of public transport options will be added soon, including details of the walking and cycling tracks. There is free ample parking on the street next to our house. The bus stop is a 5-10 minute walk up steps from our house. Other Things to NoteJust send a text or an email with your request and we will respond. Each Villa enjoys bi-folding windows that open up to allow the sounds of the Tui bird to fill the rooms with their beautiful song. Watch from your bed as the bay turns from a beautiful blue in the morning to a blue-green hue in the afternoon. These villas contain everything you could ever need as you watch the sail boats make their way to open waters below. Opua, which means beautiful flower, is notable for the first port for overseas yachts arriving in the country after crossing the Pacific Ocean. The port is bustling with incoming and outgoings yachts and sail boats. Paihia, a 5 minute drive from Opua, has activities galore. The warm currents from the equator hit the northern part of the country and results in a subtropical climate, making it an ideal winter haunt. (Hafen, Anker, Boje). Sind wir nicht am Steg, sind bis 10 Fahrten pro Tag sind per Dinghi möglich. Also 5x an Land bringen, 5x abholen.
