The SpaceTasteful interiors, sweeping desert and mountain vistas, memorable sunsets and the changing colors of the day, as well as starry night skies, make just being there a pleasure. The many living areas and well distributed spaces make it cozy for small groups but also very suitable for large groups. It is great for family gatherings and reunions of friends because of the large expandable dining room table, which makes it also good for celebrating special occasions. Rates are for up to 4 people staying > for large groups inquire. It is a real home away from home with a good selection of books, DVDs and internet access. There are two living rooms and two TVs which can be useful if children are part of your party. As far as TV channels go we use DIRECTV and, if you do not want to miss your favorite game, you might like to know that we subscribe to the Sports channel, too. Artists, academics and nature lovers find it a beautiful and peaceful place to work in and relax. The moderate elevation (4,800 feet) avoids extremes of temperature all year round: summers are never too hot and winters are never really cold. Guest AccessYou will be given clear directions on how to reach our home once you arrive in Oracle. A neighbor will meet you and give you the keys as well as be on call should you need help in any way. She will also be able to inform you of local events and give you any advice needed. Interaction with GuestsWe tend to interact with our guests from the moment the booking is made simply because that way we can prepare the house for their particular needs. We always meet them at the start of their stay, and sometimes, at the end as well. During their stay guests can treat this beautiful home as their "home away from home" and will not be disturbed in any way. Our home is always carefully cleaned before and after guests arrive and we use professional services, like Truly Nolen, to ensure that everything is just right for our guests. The NeighborhoodCasa Linda is located in a small community called Oracle, on the north slopes of the Santa Catalina mountains, not far from Saddlebrooke and very close to Biosphere II. Visitors will find interesting wildlife and birdwatching opportunities on the 3 acres of land that belong to 'Casa Linda' as well as the whole area that surrounds this beautiful place. The home also offers good access to numerous trails in wilderness settings which are ideal for hiking and mountain biking. One of these trails can be reached on foot directly from our backyard. There are interesting local shops and restaurants nearby as well as a post office and library. Oracle is well known for its art festivals and thriving art community. Getting AroundPLACES TO VISIT for wonderful day outings - Biosphere II - Sonora Desert Museum - Old Tucson Studios - Sabino Canyon - Catalina State Park - Arivaipa Canyon Wilderness & Wildlife Reserve - Boyce Thompson Arboretum - Pima Air Museum - Tital II Missile Museum - Kitt Peak National Observatory - Kartchner Caverns - Tombstone - Mission San Xavier Del Bac The closest airports are Tucson (about an hour away) and Phoenix (about 2.5 hours away). If you are coming by air you will need to rent a car; if you are coming with lots of friends, parking is not a problem because we have ample off-road parking on our private driveway. Other Things to NoteWe find that the temperature here is moderate all year round but if you ever need to switch on the heating or ceiling fans you are, of course, welcome to do so. All bills are included, so we simply expect you to be sensible and not waste gas or electricity but especially water because, as you know, water is expensive and precious in Arizona.

The SpaceThe house is surrounded by oak trees and native desert plants and has a quiet, natural, atmosphere. Being adjacent to the Coronado National Forest wild life such as deer, javelinas, coyotes, skunks, rabbits, and many types of birds can be seen often on the property. The house and garden are ideal for individuals or couples wanting a secluded, private environment to relax and revive in. Also it is excellent as a retreat or for concentrated work, there is good wifi. The rustic, 50 year old cottage of 750 sq. feet is furnished with many antiques from my family. The house offers all that guests need to feel comfortable. There are sleeping arrangements for 4 persons, a double bed, and a fold out couch that also makes into a double bed. The screened-in porch provides an extra room in the warmer months. A small but well equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking simple meals at home. The office area and a large table in the living room have comfortable office chairs and make great working areas for computer related or clean activities. Besides having great wifi, the house is LOW tech. There is an antiquated TV that plays DVDs but has no TV service….BRING YOUR MOVIES! Also there is a simple radio that receives NPR, and local stations. The garden and area that surrounds the house is an important feature of La Casita. There are different sitting areas that offer shade or sun and different views, and are perfect for eating and relaxing outside while watching the birds, or looking out at the Catalina Mountain foothills. Gorgeous sunsets can be seen from the house and at night the dark skies are perfect for stargazing. Upon Your Arrival You will be greeted by Chuck the care-taker who will give you the key, help you get settled, and answer any questions. Chuck is available by phone in case you have any questions or needs. The house is then yours to enjoy undisturbed on your own. Guest AccessGuest are welcome to use the entire house, and enjoy the garden and wooded areas around the house with the many sitting areas. Interaction with GuestsOnce you have been greeted by Chuck the care taker and introduced to the house, you are left to enjoy the quiet privacy of La Casita. If you need information or help regarding the house you can always call Chuck who lives in Oracle. Also you can email me, I live in Amsterdam and there is a 9 hour difference so I may not return your email within the hour but I do my best to answer my guest as fast as possible. The NeighborhoodLa Casita is located in the community of Oracle on the north sloops of the Catalina Mountains at 4800 ft. It is considered a High Desert eco system with its own unique combination of plant and animal species. Oracle is a cute little town, with many interesting and fun things to offer. There are several restaurants on American Avenue the main street. My favorites are the Patio Café for a really tasty breakfast or lunch and Rivera’s Mexican food, which has FABULOUS fish tacos on Fridays. The Oracle Inn is fun for a Friday or Saturday night, they often have live music. The historic Arcadia Ranch Society is an interesting place to visit, it provides a unique view of the early frontier days of the area. If you like to explore a great vintage shop, be sure to visit The Ranch Store. They also offer on wednesday evenings the Farmer's Market with food and music, always a lot of fun. There is also the Oracle Post Office and Library. For general needs there is the Family General Store but for food shopping the closest large grocery store and pharmacy is in Catalina about 20 min south of Oracle on the road to Tucson. Some homegrown fresh produce can be found at the Oracle Patio Café. Getting AroundSouthern Arizona is so rich in beauty and interesting things to see and do! Here are a few of the highlights I highly recommend. HIKING TRAILS in the area: - Catalina State Park - Oracle State Park - Pepper Sauce Canyon - Arivaipa Canyon Wilderness and Wildlife Preserve DAY TRIPS BY CAR, beautiful and unique destinations: - The Biosphere II - The Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson - Tohona Chul Desert Botanical Gardens in Tucson - The Bryce Thompson Arboretum - Kartchner Caverns - Kit Peak Observatory - Sabino Canyon - Old Tucson - Mission San Xavier Del Blanc - Old Tombstone Other Things to NoteFOR HIKERS, the Oracle Ridge trailhead that goes to the top of Mount Lemmon is five minutes walk from the house. It has amazing views in all directions and is definitely advised. Also the Oracle State Park near by has wonderful trails that look out over the San Pedro Valley and the Galiuro Mountains.

We are surrounded by nature. This is the perfect 'beat the heat' destination if you're fleeing the hot desert in the Summer. This is also the perfect 'do you wanna build a snowman' destination in the Winter. This is also the perfect destination for avid cyclists wanting to train year round in mountain air. If you step out of the house in any direction, you have Cookie Cabin and The Living Rainbow store to one side, and the General Store and Sawmill Run restaurant on the other side across the street. There are few places that can tout, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION...like this one. Getting AroundPlease be sure to have enough gas in your car to get up and down the mountain. There aren't any gas stations on Mt Lemmon. (Last place for fuel, groceries, and pharmacies, is on Tanque Verde and Catalina Highway). There is a General Store on the mountain, but your best bet is to bring your own groceries. Restaurants and stores have limited hours. Also, either print out or take a screen shot of the important details for your trip. Cell service is spotty. You don't want to get up there and not have the key code to get into the house! Once you're in the house, you'll be able to connect to wifi. If you're in a jam, you can go to the Community Center and use their internet. There are 3 levels in the house. If you are renting the Lower Level, you will only take the stairs to get into the lower level of the house. It's possible that the Lower Level of the house may be rented at the same time as the Upper Level. The units have their own entrances, are completely secure and inaccessible to the other guests. Please be mindful and respectful to the guests who may be visiting above you. The house was built after the fire on Mt. Lemmon. That's why it looks a bit different from the others. We have little trees (grow little trees, grow!) growing near us...and we have views of large beautiful trees across the way from our balcony. A two minute walk is all it takes to immerse yourself in natural beauty and the splendid tall trees on Mt. Lemmon.

You probably won't see us...but we can be reached via cell or email. The NeighborhoodWhat isn't there to LOVE about Mt. Lemmon? We are surrounded by nature. The units have their own entrances, are completely secure and inaccessible to the other guests. Please be mindful and respectful to the guests who may be visiting below you. Just another reminder that there are stairs to enter the house from the outside. There are also stairs inside the house. There are 3 levels in the house. The house was built after the fire on Mt. Lemmon. That's why it looks a bit different from the others. We have little trees (grow little trees, grow!) growing near us...and we have views of large beautiful trees across the way from our balcony. Just a 2 minute walk is all it takes to immerse yourself in natural beauty and healthy tall trees of Mt. Lemmon.
