The SpaceThe Space
This is a modern, full-sized apartment which has set with all the comforts and equipment of a modern home (see layout diagram in photos and descriptions below).
A chef's delight with large preparation spaces, modern oven plus 4 hobs, dishwasher, microwave oven, waste disposal unit, excellent adjustable lighting, extractor fans, concealed fridge and freezer units, large walk in pantry, and a wide range of cooking equipment, electric appliances, tableware, cutlery and glassware. You can watch TV or look out over the bay as you cook.
The living room
has a comfortable corner 4 seater sofa for lounging in, a flat panel TV, and a blue tooth enabled music system, dimmable lighting and deep pile 100% New Zealand wool carpets.
The dining room
A roomy area with dining room table which comfortably seats four, and gets lovely all day sun. French doors open into a courtyard with outdoor table and chairs.
The office area
Conveniently set up with a wide desk space, adjustable seating, excellent lighting, multiple wall plugs with adapters, high speed wifi (available throughout the apartment), a surge protector, scanner/colour printer as well as a paper shredder.
Roomy and modern with tile and glass shower, large mirrored areas, excellent lighting (dimmable), heated flooring, safety plugs, hair dryer, multiple extractor fans, heated flooring and heated towel rail. A full set of quality New Zealand made toiletries (no nasty chemicals) is provided free for shower and hand basin.
Spacious with washing machine, dryer, hot tub, ironing board and iron, vacuum cleaner and large chromed luggage storage racks. Liquid and powdered clothes washing materials are provided free (again New Zealand made, with no nasty chemicals).
The bedroom has a queen sized bed with his and her electric blankets, 100% cotton sheets and pillow cases, as well as a duvee, pillows, euro pillows and cushions. Adjustable his and her reading lights are situated at the head of the bed with dimmable overhead lighting. The room has heating, deep pile 100% NZ wool carpet, a wide walk in wardrobe and a wide window.
The second bedroom
At the end of the hall is another room available by arrangement if extra space is needed (our preference is let the main bedroom for one person or a couple but will consider letting the other room for a third person). We still refer to this room as The Library as it used to be filled wall to wall with books (see the floor plan diagram in photo section).
Most rooms have a view over the bay towards Sky Tower and the city.
Teas, freshly ground coffee, milk, free range eggs, multi grain bread, butter, spreads, muesli etc are provided free.

The property provides gently sloping pedestrian or drive on access from the street. Guests have complete use of the apartment, the adjacent car park and the remaining outdoor area of the property (approx 1000 sqm). Interaction with GuestsYour Hosts
We (Anna and Michael) have travelled extensively (Michael to over 75 countries) and have a wide range of interests. We have been overwhelmed by the kindness of others on our travels and love to reciprocate. We welcome the opportunity to interact with our guests as they wish and are keen to assist where we can. We live in the second apartment and may be home during a guest's stay. The NeighborhoodThe Neighbourhood
Orakei is a leafy, sunny, waterfront, premium residential area very close to downtown Auckland. Local shops (mini supermarket, hairdresser, two cafes, small bar & tapas, butcher, wine shop, bakery, florist, computer service shop, and real estate agency) are 0.6km away (8 min walk). The swimming beach of Okahu Bay is 1.1 km away (14 min walk). Cycles can be hired there. Mission Bay beach, cafes, restaurants, movie theatres, shops can be reached by an attractive waterfront walk, cycle or drive. Getting AroundGetting Around
The apartment is centrally located. Apart from a free left hand turn onto the scenic waterfront there are only two intersections before reaching the very centre of the Auckland CBD waterfront. This is the city hub and location of many waterfront cafés, bars, restaurants, plus bus and train stops, and ferry terminals.
A bus stop is within 50 metres of the apartment and a railway station is around the bay, a 12 minute walk away.
The fares from the apartment to the Auckland CBD waterfront are : bus NZ$3.40 (6 mins as no stops and there are special bus lanes), train NZ$1.90 (4 mins), and taxi around NZ$10 to NZ$20 (depending on time of day and taxi company - trip takes around 6 mins if traffic is light).
As a covered carpark is provided with the apartment you may wish to consider hiring a rental car during your stay. Rental cars are available at the airport and within Auckland.
