The SpaceEntering the property through a graceful cast iron gate, you immediately feel at home in this secluded spot. What will capture you first: the breathtaking views of the Foothills and snowy peaks of Tahoe, or the lovely garden boasting roses, and a variety of flowers, or the house so ideally situated?
Terraces bordered with seasonal lavender, peonies, and jasmine surround the house. The wisteria-covered pergola is a favorite spot for breakfast, lunch, or a glass of wine at leisure. Other more intimate corners may hold a special appeal for you.
Entering the house, beautifully furnished with French Country antiques, is stepping into a warm and welcoming Provencal home, with high ceilings and hardwood floor throughout. The large dining /living room is filled with light, captured through five French doors, three of which open onto the front terrace with a panoramic view of the Sierras. A central hallway leads to both bedrooms, the master bedroom and master bath on one side, and the guest room and bath on the other. Both charming, each with their own, unique view of the gardens.
The kitchen overlooking the garden is fully equipped and opens directly onto the dining area.

I will be available to help you throughout your stay; please ask if you would like suggestions for outings or need help in any way. The NeighborhoodThe house is located in a quiet cul-de sac with three other beautiful homes enjoying a rarified view far out to the Squaw and Sierra Buttes. Lakes and forest for long peaceful walks are within 15-30 minutes drive. Or you may opt to stay home, relax, meditate or prepare yourself delicious meals, which you can also order from one of our local restaurants or a local personal chef.
At 1500' elevation we are above the fog and below the snow. It's quiet, safe, and usually clean air. Seasonal natural beauty. Good wild birdlife and lots of deer etc. Wonderful human neighbors, Beautiful distinctive terroir wines and olive oils to taste. There are wonderful trails and hikes close by that I can help you learn about. Fishing, boating and swimming are popular at Collin's Lake, Lake Francis or Englebright Reservoir. I highly recommend superb river swimming in the Yuba River and Oregon Creek under an hour away. The coolest choice with shady spots in summer.
For Dining I highly recommend Cafe Collage for fine dining or pizza, and Yuba Harvest for Farm to Fork dinners, 1st & 3rd weekends, and lunch hour cafe, local wine & olive oil tastings, art work etc.. 'Sweet Diane' a local personal chef has a twice weekly menu to cook for you and deliver any day of the week.
Clos Saron Winery – 8 minutes drive
Cafe Collage restaurant – 10 minutes drive
Yuba Harvest restaurant – 15 minutes drive
Lake Francis – 15 minutes drive
Great swimming spots in the Yuba River or shaded Oregon Creek is just 30 minutes drive.
If you are in need of City Life, there are 2 small cities within 50 minutes, Nevada City and Grass Valley. Getting AroundYou need a vehicle to get about. Bikes are fine, but be aware that roads are narrow and windy, drivers are not always "bike aware." Nice local walks and hikes available. Excellent jogging or running loops at the top of Regent Way and Winding Way.
Public transport is not a strong point. You need a car to come from Sacramento airport.
Allow 40 minutes from Marysville,
45 minutes to Grass Valley via Hwy 20, or take the scenic loop over Bullard's Bar then on to Highway 49, the Golden Chain, either climbing up to the Sierra Buttes and Sierra Valley, or turn right to the Yuba River South Fork bridge and onto Nevada City, either way is a beautiful drive to Highway 80 and Lake Tahoe.
. Other Things to NoteWater conservation is needed, no long showers etc.
Welcome to any foods in the kitchen, teas in the drawer next to the dishwasher and coffee in the freezer, local olive oil etc..
Truly Provencal, in that there are no insect screens on the French doors, windows have screens. The climate is sunny and dry, so bring protection and stay well hydrated.
You are welcome to pick some flowers to enjoy in the vases in the house.
The lavender is flowering and you can pick from the down hill side so as to keep the full impression from the patio. Clippers in the kitchen.
