The SpaceOur beachfront hostel is perfect for avid surfers, turtle conservation volunteers or anyone else wanting a tranquil place to enjoy the beach and local Costa Rican culture. Eat, sleep, surf relax in between, maybe an excursion or two if you feel like splurging, since there is taxi service onsite and local tour guides nearby.
You can hear and see the ocean from your room and at meals and will feel one with the ocean. Camamar is also a place for those who appreciate location, the beach, having the surf at their doorstep and the sunset on the horizon. It's true paradise here. Quiet and romantic as well.
Accommodations are simple, and you may request a private room for $10 extra per night and private bath for another $10 extra per night per private room, otherwise accommodations are shared dorm rooms, shared bathrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers, and beachfront dining. You will fall in love with this peaceful location and the friendly Spanish-speaking village. It is not a loud hostel full of young people and lights out on the common area at 10pm, so if you are looking to party and mingle with others, let me know and I will guide you in the right direction elsewhere in Guiones. Children are welcome and we can provide a vacation package for you of activities and transportation or an Eco-volunteer vacation package for students as well. The majority of the time time our guests have full reign of the property with no other guests. Many young people who come expecting a social crowd are actually pleasantly surprised how much they love it, because they experience nature, immerse themselves in local culture, learn to surf, and meet the greatest people, both locals and tourists.
Maria, a native of Ostional, cooks and serves you breakfast "du jour" each morning, included in this rate. If you would like a full meal plan, it's an additional $10 per day. If interested, let us know after you request your dates and we will forward a special price quote for you. Please also forward any food allergies.
We look forward to having you and showing you the real Costa Rica!

Some of the activities you may book with us are surfing & stand up paddlesurfing lessons & board rentals that are on-site; on-site video presentation on turtle conservation and nesting; beginner sup lessons or tours a 15 minute drive away at a gorgeous ocean bay with snorkeling; waterfall hiking, volcano hiking, horseback riding, yoga, coffee tours, ATV jungle tours, volcano tours, brewery tours, zipline canopy tours, nightlife tours to Samara, Nosara or Tamarindo. The NeighborhoodThe community is fabulous! It's a safe and quiet town and you are walking distance to the one bar in town, the soccer field, the doctor that comes on Mondays, the bus, two mini supermarkets, churches, two major restaurants and other small eating establishments, the turtle conservation and tours, surf shop and we have stand up paddleboards and surf boards on site for rent and lessons. You are staying directly on a long straight stretch of black sand beach where you could wake up at dawn and take a walk and not see a soul. If you do bump into anyone at any hour of the day or night, it is a safe area unlike some busier beach towns. It's RARE to get a property on the beach, since there is a conservation that does not allow any new building 200 meters from the beach. It's a gem of a property and location. Getting AroundParking is free on-site and the bus is a couple of minutes walk away. We also have 24-hour taxi service on-site. Also as mentioned, you can walk to mini-supermarket, restaurants, bars, soccer field, doctor who comes on Mondays, turtle conservation, surf shop and we have stand up paddleboards and surf boards on site for rent or lessons. Other Things to NoteImportant: The two highlights of this property are the consistent year-round surf and the extraordinary viewing of the sea turtles nesting. These occasionally conflict with each other. When the turtles come ashore, sometimes in the thousands, the surfing is restricted in some areas, although it's a short walk or drive to another fabulous break. And for those who are coming to view the turtles, you may not see any, because they nest only on the first quarter of the moon and more frequently during rainy season. Showers have great pressure, but as is typical in most of Costa Rica, there is no running hot water. Also as is typical in Costa Rica, please do not put anything into the toilet. All toilet paper goes into the trash.
