The NeighborhoodIt is an older established neighborhood but on a historic river road that enters starved rock country so you will see tourism traffic, but lots of fun cars and bikes. Getting AroundThere is no public transit but you are in walking distance to downtown. The metra in Joliet to go to Chicago is 50 minutes away. Other Things to NotePlease keep in mind we are on the Illinois river historic road but in a quaint victorian neighborhood. Tourist traffic can be busy at times but also the classic car watching from the great front porch with the river and foliage in the background is so enjoyable.

Built in 1880, Baldwin House is filled with charm. Rich dark wood crown molding is found throughout the home and adorning doors and windows. Beautiful French doors open from the sun room and dining room into a spacious living room. The layout of the living room lends itself well to a conversation area while built in book shelves create a reading nook in front of the fireplace. Enjoy dinner in the formal dining room complete with original wall sconces and the charm of another time and century. Baldwin House sleeps up to six people comfortably. Two spacious bedrooms include a queen bed in the Master and two full size beds in the second bedroom. There is one bath complete with the claw foot tub and separate shower. Unlike a bed & breakfast, this home provides flexibility of menu and meal times as you determine what best suits your needs and schedule. The kitchen is complete with dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, coffee maker, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave.                 This three level 2800 square foot luxury cabin is located in the rustic beauty across from Starved Rock State Park. There is sleeping capacity of eighteen, but we limit the number of guests to 12 as shown above. The main level features a kitchen, full bathroom and soaring knotty pine view of a cozy wooded lake. There are also two pull-out couches and plenty of relaxed seating areas. There is also a fireplace to gather around. The Master Bedroom features a king bed with private fireplace, whirlpool and private bath all on the upper floor of the cabin. The lower level features a bunk bed room with two lower queen beds with single beds above. The other bedroom has two queens a whirlpool and private bathroom. Another bathroom and laundry room round out the rest of the space. This is perfect place for family gatherings as many people can get together comfortably and enjoy nature and family and friends. Please note that booking of this unit does not guarantee access to the water park or amusement park. The resort offers daily passes at $19.95 for adults and $14.95 for children. Control over their issuance is with the resort.

                The SpaceWelcome to The River House Bed and Breakfast – an historic Queen Anne built in 1890. The River House sits high on a bluff overlooking where the Illinois and Fox Rivers cross paths and has beautiful views of both rivers and the town of Ottawa. The location is walking distance to the shops, bars and restaurants in the beautiful, quaint town of Ottawa Illinois. We are a quick, scenic drive to four state parks - Starved Rock, Buffalo Rock, Matthiassen and Illini. We are short driving distances from wine tasting in Utica, golf courses, sky diving, canoe rentals, boat and water ski rentals, river rafting on the Vermillion River and many other fun activities. The home is 125 years old and was in the same family from 1890 to 1883. The home is approximately 5,000 square feet and sits on about an acre lot. Dana, co-owner and proprietor, lives on-site in the Maid’s Room. We require a minimum 2-night stay on non-holiday weekends and weekdays. Minimum 3-day stay during the winter holiday season (weekend before Thanksgiving through January 2nd) and summer holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day). Weekly and Monthly rates do not include breakfast. If you would like breakfast, please contact us for pricing which will depend on the number of guests. A 25% deposit is required to secure an Entire House rental. In addition to beds listed, the home has a sofa bed (River View Sitting / Bathroom) and two deluxe, extra high air mattresses (Loft and Mary Todd rooms). Guest AccessGuests have access the Parlour, Saloon, Dining Room, Porch and the yard. We can provide refrigerator or cabinet space in the kitchen too. ENTIRE HOME GUEST ACCESS: Guests have full access to the home. Kitchen privileges may be granted upon request. If granted, guests are required to put the Kitchen back into original condition after each meal. We will offer a lower rate if you wish to have full access to the kitchen and prepare your own breakfast. Guest may use basic ingredients (flour, oils, seasonings, etc.) but BYO for all other ingredients. The House if fully stock as a family home. Other than food and beverages, you should not need to bring anything a person over 3-years old should need….except your tooth brush and tooth paste Interaction with GuestsDana, owner/proprietor is lives on-site and prepare breakfast. Breakfast is communal and generally served between 9:00 am and 9:30 am. Coffee and breakfast basics are available by 6:30 am. Should you opt to prepare all you own meals and / or also book the Maid's Room (5th bedroom), Dana will vacate the premises after greeting and check-in and leave guests with all necessary information and critical contacts well documented. Someone will check on guests and the home on a daily basis. NOTE: 1) If you need the 5th Maid's Bedroom, no River House staff will be on-site except for daily check-ins. You are on your own for breakfast. 2) All Weekly and Monthly rates exclude breakfast. Guest may have full access to the Kitchen. The River House staff may or may not opt to live on-site for the duration of guests' extended stays. Other Things to NoteWe aim to exceed your B&B expectations in every way. House sleeps 10: Master has a King; Lower Level Bedroom has a Queen, and Upper Level Bedroom has Bunk Beds AND a Queen.
