The SpaceWe are tucked away on private property less than 7 miles from the Oxford Square. The basement apartment is below Oxford Treehouse Gallery with a separate entrance and outdoor sitting area. The apartment style is cozy/industrial...think exposed ductwork, eclectic artwork, super comfortable bed, cotton linens and mounted deer. Please note... there is no television but we do have high speed internet. Besides...the chickens in the yard can be far more entertaining than t.v. Guest AccessGuests will have access to a refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee pot and electric kettle in the apartment. There will be coffee, tea, milk and some type of breakfast pastry. The upstairs gallery screened porch will be available if you would like to take your breakfast there or just relax under the fans. Guests can wander the property with the chickens and visit the blacksmith shop down the lane as well as visit the art gallery. You are welcome to work or rest upstairs in the gallery sitting area as well. Interaction with GuestsWe will be happy to show you around the gallery or the property and help with your plans while in Oxford should you desire. We will also be happy to give you your privacy and solitude. The NeighborhoodWe are in a rural area outside of Oxford. Brown Family Dairy is 4 miles away. There are lovely cycling routes in our area of Lafayette county. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation but there are bicycle lanes going toward the Square. Other Things to NoteThe cancellation policy states one week prior to check-in. For football and graduation weekends I ask that you give me 2 weeks. I will refund if I can find another reservation. There is a two night minimum on event weekends (football/graduation). The air conditioner/heater thermostat is upstairs in the gallery. I always check with the guests to learn their temperature preferences and am close by if I need to change the temperature after gallery hours.

The SpaceLovingly designed and decorated by my Mother, we now want to share this treasure with you. In the early 80s, Mom sold the Oxford landmark, Fiddler's Folly, which she and my Dad named -- he said it was a folly for a fiddler to own such a big house! She then created a much smaller version, carefully designed around her favorite antiques. Some are family pieces, the rest she collected over the years. As a result, Dove Cottage is a distinctive, comfortable home for you to enjoy on your next visit to Oxford. Guest AccessAt Dove Cottage, you will find yourself in a quiet retreat near all that Oxford has to offer. Walk to the top of the hill on Price Street and you will find Oxford institutions such as Big Bad Breakfast, Snack Bar, and Handy Andy BBQ. Or catch a yoga class at Southern Star Yoga, do some antique shopping, and in the summer, enjoy the farmer's market. Saunter down North Lamar to see lovely old homes such as Ammadelle and Fiddler's Folly on your way to the Square, which is packed with shops and restaurants and, of course, the world-famous Square Books in all it's permutations. Head a block west on Price and you will find tennis and basketball courts and the Depot Trail, where you can walk or bike to campus and the city pool. From campus you can walk through Bailey's Woods to visit Faulkner's Rowan Oak. The NeighborhoodHuffington Post Travel named Oxford as one of the 9 most romantic in the South! Come see for yourself. Getting AroundOn and off street parking. Other Things to NoteWould you like to enjoy a Southern breakfast, lunch or dinner without leaving home? We can do that for you. Or do you need a picnic for the Grove? Ditto. Let me know when you make your reservations and we can give you details and pricing. We also offer daily housekeeping service for an additional fee.

The SpaceThere is lots of room in this 4,200 sq. ft. home, and we've set the home up to receive guests. So there is plenty of social space on the front porch and back patio and deck. There's plenty of bedding to sleep a crowd. For a really large group a couple of people may have to use a futon couch or a twin mattress that we store under a bed. Our dining room seats six and right next to it is a breakfast room that also seats six or more. Bedroom descriptions: Bedroom 1, Second Floor: This large room with ensuite bath has a 3/4 bed which can sleep one person (or two people who love each other a lot or are small). There is a full-sized futon which can sleep two. There is plenty of extra closet space available. Bedroom 2, Second Floor: A small guest room which shares a bath located on the landing. The dresser drawers are empty, so plenty of place to store clothes; also has closet space. This is a guest room, so ins't used much. There is an office connected to this bedroom that has a single-sized day bed that can be used for larger groups. This office can only be accessed by walking through the bedroom. Bedroom 3, Second Floor: A slightly larger guest room which also shares the bath on the landing. Plenty of drawer space; also closet space. Bedroom 4, Third floor bonus area: This very large room has about 600 square feet. It contains a sitting area with sofa, love seat, chair, and coffee table, and large, flat-screen TV. There is a full-over-full bunk bed plus additional bedding as described below. Additional bedding: We have two twin-sized mattresses which we store underneath beds. We also have a twin air mattress. So the large Bedroom 4 could be used as a dorm for kids while the three bedrooms on the second floor are used for the adults. For privacy reasons one or more of the twin mattresses could be placed on the floor of the third-floor office area. Downstairs we have a large den with television; formal dining room with seating for six; breakfast room with seating for at least six; large kitchen; front porch with two wrought-iron tables, each having four chairs; back patio with grill, vintage furniture that will seat 8-12 plus a glass-top patio-dining-table that seats four. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire house. For a smaller group we are willing to just rent out the second-floor bedrooms at a reduced price. PLEASE NOTE: We will negotiate a discount for smaller groups not using all of the bedrooms. If you do not need the master bedroom downstairs we will reduce the rental rate by 20 percent. Interaction with GuestsI will likely be on hand to greet you and answer any questions you might have. I may also check in at some point just to make sure the house hasn't turned into "party central." The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood was built just before the Oxford "boom," and is a two-acre lot subdivision (there aren't any more "large-lot" subdivisions being built these days). It's just outside the city limits and nice and quiet, with plenty of privacy whether you choose to use the back patio and deck or the front porch to relax. Getting AroundYou will need a car, although it is a quick zip into town since we are just off Highway 7 North. It's one mile to get out of our subdivision, and roughly two more miles to Kroger, or three miles to the Square, and or four miles to The Grove. Other Things to NoteWe recently gutted our kitchen to the studs and remodeled. It's a very nice kitchen, with a commercial gas range. We also remodeled our master bath. Hope you enjoy this! Also, even though the "pricing" says the rental is for two nights, if you wish to come a day early we might be able to allow you to arrive a day early for a reasonable fee or no charge at all.
