The SpaceThis space is a fully self-sufficient, stand-alone bungalow in a park-like setting. For us, the most important thing about having a place to spend the night is the bed. For this reason we didn't skimp, great (all natural latex) mattresses (including the sofa; great pillows & bedding too. It is a large open studio with a sleeping alcove, but the built-in sofa also converts into two additional comfortable twin beds (or one king). It is well appointed for either working or relaxing, and it's very private and quiet. The space is equipped with WIFI and a computer for work or pleasure. The TV has basic cable but also Chrome Cast so bring your Netflix account and relax. The kitchen is wonderful; whether you're just fixing a quick breakfast or making a gourmet meal. Beware that the refrigerators are very small so as not to burden the space with unnecessary appliance intrusion, but there is a small dishwasher, a gas stove top, oven and microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker and even a small gas BBQ out on the deck. It's all very elegant yet work friendly. Guest AccessThis is a large property and wandering is encouraged. The cottage itself is private, including a small privately enclosed deck to dine alfresco or take an outdoor shower. Requests for entertaining your own guests from 2 to 20 can be a wonderful add-on, but this is restrictive and by special arrangements and cost only. Interaction with GuestsWe do live on the property (in a separate dwelling) and are therefore usually available to help guests with most needs. Whether it's recommending a restaurant or other things to do, or helping put together some food items in your fridge; feel free to ask, we can usually accommodate. The NeighborhoodOyster Bay - Long Island - NY is a very old town (settled in 1600's). It was in the heart of the Gold Cost era of summer mansions during the turn of the century, thus offers some wonderful places to visit. It's the home town of President Teddy Roosevelt, and his home (Sagamore Hill - a National Park) is a must see. We are 1-mile from the water (Long Island Sound) so we recommend you rent a kayak for a lazy day on the calm water of Oyster Bay. Getting AroundWe are located in a rather rural spot, so a car is a must, but if you're going into New York City, we recommend that you take the train (The Long Island Rail Road a/k/a the LIRR), a 50-minute ride to mid-town Manhattan. And while you need a car for local travel, you can easily get here from JFK by using the JFK Air Train which connects to the LIRR and arrives 1-mile from our place. Other Things to NoteThis is a working horse farm and for this reason, we prefer not to host kids between 3 and 12, it's a bit dangerous for kids that age who are adventurous and don't understand the dangers of animals, no matter how domesticated. PLEASE NOTE: We do have a few dogs that run free on the property, but they are very friendly. In short, we "discourage" bringing kids, but don't necessarily restrict them - it requires a discussion.

My place is close to beaches, marinas, restaurants and historic Oyster Bay, C.W. Post, Cold Spring Harbor Labs, Planting Fields Arboretum, Sagamore Hill, Muttontown Preserve for hiking and 28 miles from NYC. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, the pool, the comfy bed, the kitchen, and the neighborhood. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. It's close to The Waterfront Center in Oyster Bay, to rent a sailboat, kayak, or paddle board for the day.

I have traveled all over and stayed in many settings. I wanted to provide the things that I found important in my stays. A clean hot shower with great water pressure. A quiet, well maintained room with a TV and work space. A comfortable bed with good linens and extra pillows. Privacy and thoughtfulness. Guest Access: There is a private entrance to the upstairs. There are 4 rentals upstairs. 1 very clean shared bathroom and a shared kitchenette area. Free tea, coffee and breakfast items are provided. I host only clean, quiet, considerate people. The noise transfer is minimal. Each room has it's own key. The private entrance is a keyless entry that you get a pin code for. Interaction with Guests: After check in you will not see me or hear from me unless you need me. I live downstairs in the main house. The upstairs and downstairs are separated by a door. We will not share an entrance. The rentals have a private entrance. The Neighborhood: Waterfront. Close to most major highways and expressways. Close to public transportation. Walkable. Getting Around: Long island rail road (LIRR) is a 5 minute walk. If you go west, NYC is about 30-40 minutes. You can connect to the subway at Jamaica Station. If you go to Mineola, you can use the LIRR to go to many of the popular beaches and vacation spots. On foot from the house, there are walkable bars, restaurants, shops, banks, a park, marina and a beach set on the bay. The famous Muttontown nature preserve and many historical landmarks are nearby as well. There is ample street parking right in from of the house and it is quite loosely enforced, meaning you wont have to wake up and move your car early. Which is common here in NY. The town itself is very safe and quiet. It's close to everything honestly and if you need a ride somewhere, I will likely drive you, for a fee. Other Things to Note: I will drive you somewhere for a fee, if I am available. Including to the airport. I will do your laundry for a fee, if I am available.

This modern studio cottage is wonderfully located on Long Island, just a 45-minute train ride to Midtown-Manhattan. You get to do all the "city" things (shows, museums, restaurants, etc) but still enjoy a magnificent respite right in the midst of the North Shore of Long Island. The cottage is romantically designed for a couple and fitted with all the necessitates and a cool kitchen as well as a small private deck with a BBQ. But it's also great for traveling businessmen/women, and the sofa transforms into comfortable extra sleeping for one or two in a pinch. It's less than one mile from the local beaches and about 45-minutes from Fire Island, a bit more to the Hampton's or north fork wineries. In short, it's perfectly located for those who want to be able to do a bit of everything or those who need to settle in to be with family or work.
