Equally awesome is the location of the space- it sits in a premier neighborhood walking distance to anything one might need. *The home comes with linens, towels, soaps, etc **Payment: Because many people ask- I will let you know here: You 'submit a booking' which means you pay the full amount now. I do not get paid until after your arrival. There are no cash transactions and, no you may not put down a deposit unfortunately.       The SpaceLOCATION If “location, location, location” is a top priority for you when choosing a place to stay, then this guesthouse is the perfect choice! It’s close to all the hot spots in West Los Angeles and Santa Monica, as well as within easy reach of the major freeways if you want to explore other areas of the city. The guesthouse, which is nestled in a hideaway on one of the neighborhood’s most beautiful, tree-lined streets, is also located only a short walk to a favorite Brentwood hang-out, the Brentwood Country Mart (see more details below). GUESTHOUSE DESCRIPTION A uniquely crafted loft gives this bright, spacious and cheerful guesthouse its homey character while also providing space for additional guests. The comfortable queen-size bed on the bottom floor is great for two people and the sleeping loft with a full-size bed can accommodate two more guests that are at least 18 years and older. The guesthouse also includes a bathroom with a shower; plenty of closet space; a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, gas oven, an over-the-range microwave, a coffee maker, and a toaster; a large HD-TV with cable and free WiFi. All linens and towels are provided and a washer and dryer are available upon request. Two sliding glass doors open out to a large patio with table and chairs enabling guests to enjoy a sunny breakfast or an intimate dinner with just enough light provided by the outdoor lantern. The guesthouse is located on the host’s property, but it has its own separate entry and is completely private. There is one designated parking spot for guests and additional street parking with some restrictions. The host has two incredibly sweet Chocolate Labrador dogs that love everyone they meet, but they are kept completely separate from the guesthouse by a fence. MORE ABOUT GUESTHOUSE LOCATION An extremely attractive feature of this guesthouse is its close proximity to some of the favorite sites Los Angeles has to offer, such as trendy Montana Avenue (Santa Monica's Rodeo Drive); the Santa Monica Promenade, where you can shop, dine or go to the movies; the entertaining Venice Boardwalk; Westwood Village (home to UCLA) and the lively Santa Monica Pier and beach. Depending on traffic, most of these spots can be accessed within about 10-15 minutes by car. There are also bus stops within short walks from the guesthouse for all these destinations and more. Guests will also be delighted to find that it’s only a five minute walk from the guesthouse to the historic and extremely popular Brentwood Country Mart, which offers a variety of dining opportunities and shops, including Diesel books, the "cutting edge" neighborhood bookstore, and the Sweet Rose Creamery, serving homemade – and always in demand - ice cream. Also in this area are Starbucks and other gourmet coffee spots and a bunch of really good restaurants offering everything from Mexican, Italian, & Japanese sushi to Belgium-inspired cuisine and health food. There’s even Maha Yoga -- offering classes for all levels -- if you need a place to unwind. Grocery shopping is close & convenient as well: There's a Whole Foods, a Ralph's and a Bristol Farms all within about a 2-minute drive from the guesthouse, and two different Trader Joe's are about an 8 minute drive away. There's also nearby San Vicente Boulevard, home to many restaurants, specialty coffeehouses and unique boutiques. Not to be missed on Sundays is Brentwood's prized Farmers Market (a short stroll from the guesthouse) featuring excellent local produce straight from the farms, as well as a variety of food and apparel vendors. For bagel lovers, the best bagels in town can be found at the Bagel Nosh in Santa Monica, a short, five--minute drive from the guesthouse. You can get a great bargain breakfast or lunch there, or just get bagels to go if you wish. If you like bagels, you won’t be disappointed! Wonderful museums including the Getty Center, the Skirball Cultural Center and the Armand Hammer Museum are all within a 4-mile radius of the guesthouse. Additional marvelous destinations include Will Rogers State Park, boasting some of the best hiking trails on the westside, or Palisades Park, where scenic views of the ocean and gorgeous sunsets make it an excellent destination for a relaxing stroll or a lovely picnic. CELEBRITY CONNECTION The guesthouse is located in a very beautiful, safe and upscale neighborhood where a sighting of a celebrity or two is not uncommon. Film shoots are also fairly common in this area. In fact, the host’s home is located across the street from the house that was used as Larry David’s home in the HBO hit series, “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” A scene for one of the episodes was filmed at the host’s home and it was used on a regular basis as the lunch site for the cast and crew. We are located only blocks away from Santa Monica Pier, beaches, Montana Ave, Third Street Promenade, shopping and dining. If you are looking for a temporary place to stay for a great rate, then this is it. No smoking and no drugs. You can share the rest of the apt, cook, pool, even use the bike to go to the beach. Apt is located on a safe and quiet tree lined street with a neighborhood feel yet with easy access to active commercial streets. Everything is within walking or biking distance.         The SpaceThis clean, uncluttered, and private one-bedroom guest suite, suitable for one or two guests, also has a sitting room, breakfast bar and bath. Furnished in mid-century modern, it has wireless internet, Italian tile floors, bamboo cabinets and quartz countertops, refrigerator, microwave and a two burners, but no stove. The bedroom features a queen-sized bed with a firm 14" memory foam mattress. The separate entrance and Pella windows with between-the-glass pleated shades give guests total privacy. Beach towels are provided as is a Conair steamer and a small travel iron for business travelers and wedding guests. Guest AccessThere is an adjacent covered patio available to guests; however, the steep hillside behind the house is off limits. To enjoy the gorgeous ocean views, take one of two public staircases to Adelaide Drive or walk to Palisades Park. There is a laundry room available for guests staying longer than a week to do one load of laundry, but please ask first. There is no smoking anywhere on the premises, inside or outdoors. Interaction with GuestsThe Pied-a-Terre is a private, self-contained guest suite. I look forward to welcoming my guests on arrival. After a brief orientation, you may not see me, as I maintain a busy schedule, but I am available as needed. The NeighborhoodSanta Monica Canyon was once a bohemian enclave by the sea. There is a website called "In the Canyon" that gives more information about the neighborhood. It is convenient to all the attractions of Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, and Venice: Montana Avenue, both Gettys, Malibu and the incredible hiking trails of the Santa Monica Mountains. Give the Santa Monica stairs a try, and walk or jog along the most beautiful street in Santa Monica, Adelaide Drive, to Palisades Park. Walk to beautiful little hidden Rustic Canyon Park. Some of the restaurants within easy walking distance are Patrick's Roadhouse, Sam's by the Beach, Giorgio Baldi, Caffe Delfini, The Golden Bull, The Hungry Cat, Marix Tex Mex, Perry's Cafe, Back on the Beach. Some of these restaurants are celebrity magnets. Getting AroundThere is unrestricted free parking nearby; however, you don't need a car to get around. There are many places, including the beach and the pier, that you can walk to. Plus, Uber/Lyft are at your service! Good news! You can now catch the new Expo line train to get from Santa Monica to DTLA or transfer to the Red Line and get off on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! You can now ping Uber and Lyft from LAX from the Departures level upstairs. You can also get from LAX to the Santa Monica Promenade or the Civic Center on the Santa Monica #3 Big Blue Bus or the Flyaway shuttle. Then take Uber/Lyft or the #9 Big Blue Bus which stops nearby. There are buses that leave from 2nd Street just south of Santa Monica Blvd and also on Ocean Avenue to all the major Southern California tourist attractions and even as far as San Francisco, Grand Canyon and Vegas. The area is popular with cyclists. Early in the morning around 6 am, large groups of cyclists in colorful jerseys glide silently toward PCH. There is a new bike share program sponsored by Hulu and the City of Santa Monica as well as several bicycle rental shops in the surrounding area. It is an easy walk to the two nearest bike share hubs. You can easily ride to Venice and back along Ocean Avenue or the beach bike path. For more information go to the City of Santa Monica website. If you want to bring your own bike, you can leave it securely on the covered patio. Other Things to NoteThe area is a mecca for exercisers. Sometimes during the day parking can be impacted, but they come and go, so there is always parking available. At night the street is empty and you can always park in front of the house. Beach access is via two tunnels that go under PCH or the pedestrian bridge in Palisades Park at Montana Avenue. Do not run across PCH! I do not have a TV as I don't watch it myself. Most of my guests are actively out and about during their stays. This is not the place for you if you need to watch TV during your stay. Fyi Airbnb is now collecting from all guests the 14% Transient Occupancy Tax required by the city that hotels must pay. I'm sorry if it has made my listing seem more expensive, but I have no say in it whatsoever. The tax has been designated by the city for homeless housing and services. The house was completely renovated, inside and out, in 2007, while retaining the original charm of its 1926 roots. We designed the house to be enjoyed every day, which in our Mediterranean climate, means 300 days of sunshine. Outdoor areas flow to indoor areas seamlessly. The dining court and dining room are interchangeable, as are the indoor and outdoor cooking areas. Let the kids play basketball or Ping Pong on the sport court while Mom and Dad have a cocktail and use the wood burning Argentinean Grill to prepare dinner. Enjoy music on the outdoor system or just enjoy the sound of the splashing fountains. There's a room for everyone. The Master Bedroom has a Queen Bed, an attached bath with soaking tub and separate shower. One child's bedroom has a full size bed and attached full bath. You can use one or both of the bedrooms pictured...whatever works best for you and your companions. The second bedroom will never be rented out to a separate party during your stay. The bathroom is yours alone and has a glass enclosed walk in shower, new towels, and all the amenities you would find at a high end hotel...right down to the terry cloth robes. Guest AccessYou will have full use of the downstairs of the house including: the kitchen, living area, your bedrooms/bath and the outdoor fire-pit (everything pictured in this listing). Interaction with GuestsUpon arrival, I will make sure you are familiarized with everything about the house. After that, if you don't see me around...just call my cell for any questions/suggestions/advice...I'm usually quick to respond! The kitchen and the entrance are shared. But we have our own fabulous lounging space (URL HIDDEN) we are generally out of your way. I work full time and have an active social life, so typically we will only see each other once or twice a day. My daughter, Piper, lives with me part time and might be around during your visit. But as much as you'll love her company...she is 13 and prefers her phone to human interaction. My wonderful boyfriend, Brian, also "lives here". He is an active participant in my airbnb business and another great resource for you about the house and the area. The NeighborhoodThe place is conveniently located on the very north end of Santa Monica, with easy access to PCH and the 10 FWY. This residential neighborhood is unique for its towering trees, architectural homes, and hidden stairways...all right at the ocean's edge. It is bordered by the beach, downtown Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades. Indoor and outdoor activities are just steps/a quick drive away. Getting AroundI highly suggest a RENTAL CAR during your stay. STREET PARKING is easy and safe. The grocery store, shops and restaurants/bars of Santa Monica are just a 5 minute drive from the house. But if you prefer to use your feet for transportation, the beach, bike rental shops, and a few great (but somewhat pricey) places to eat are within walking distance. Other Things to NotePLEASE make sure you enter the CORRECT NUMBER of guests into your airbnb reservation request...I charge by the person, not the room. Your head-count will affect the price of your stay. We have two cats, and one of them is very social (and has gotten great reviews...haha). If you are allergic or simply don't like cats, this is not your spot. I'm a single mother and we live in the house, so I'm careful about who stays. I'm happy to welcome people new to airbnb who don't have reviews, but I won't accept reservations with incomplete profiles. Tell me about yourself and please make sure yours has a Government Issued ID and a social media verification.
