The SpaceCharming, cozy, comfortable and clean. The perfect definition of "Cabin". We have lots of Five Star, wonderful reviews waiting for you, just ask. Cabin Fever is so close to all that San Diego or Orange County have to offer but so far from the stress of the cities! Guest AccessThe cabin is all yours and very family friendly. Do you have young children? They will love the loft and toys, and you might appreciate the Pack and Play, baby gates, DVD's, books, and even a s'mores maker for kids of all ages. Interaction with GuestsThe door is a key-less entry. Prior to your stay, we simply send you a combination and you are all set. We live very close on the top of the mountain and with my Palomar Properties Real Estate business I often drive by a couple times during your stay. But, I won't bother you unless invited. Plan your timing right and I may be able to point you to some apple picking, great places for more sledding, delightful trails for spring flowers, or hiking summer fun. The NeighborhoodPalomar Mountain is a lifestyle. I often think our time on Palomar as something that folks experienced about 100 years ago. Friendly neighbors, the scent of a wood burning fireplace in the winter, dinner on the stove, enjoying a potluck and game night with family and friends, hiking in the forest, gazing at the amazing stars in our clear sky, and seeing deer and wild turkeys roam through our land. Things can change very quickly with high speed internet and all the modern luxuries. At Cabin Fever we have the best of both worlds! Getting AroundA 4-wheel drive with chains is best during the snow but not absolutely necessary. Some folks bring their mountain bikes or rent them in the cities. We provide a link, including directions from the airport after booking your stay. We are 1 1/2 hour from the San Diego or Carlsbad airport and just a little bit longer from Orange County or Ontario. Other Things to NoteWe do have special rates for holidays. On three day weekends, the stay is a 3 day minimum at $150.00 per night. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, the stay is a four night minimum and $175.00 night. If you'd like to fish Doane Pond, you'll need a license. They are available at Lake Henshaw where you can also go out in a boat. We have a link available to you of lots of fun things to do from cabin fever, plus cabin tips and info when you book your vacation at Cabin Fever.

The SpaceFeather Creek cottage is nestled in a grove of ancient oak trees, high in the northern San Diego County mountains - our 40 acre horse ranch, Rancho de los Robles, has horses, goats, chickens, and hundreds of oak trees, with a small fishing pond, cabernet sauvignon vineyard, clean mtn. air, great clear mtn well water. It offers quiet, peaceful nights with nearby wineries, and tourist attractions in the old mining town of Julian, and Old Town Temecula. There are miles of great riding trails adjacent to the ranch. We love sharing the quiet beauty of our "little piece of paradise" with new friends.

Like to get away from it all but have the luxuries of home? Come away to this delightful, newly remodeled, enchanting, cabin-in-the-woods. Slip back in time with the mountain-milled, cedar log siding and deck. This cabin makes your heart smile! We have a stone fireplace waiting for you with a rustic mantel claimed from the forest floor. Cozy up in front of the fire on comfortable leather furniture with some vintage antiques woven in. The modern amenities that we are sure you'll appreciate start with the newly remodeled, fully stocked, kitchen and bath with granite counters and a washer/dryer (but limited use because of our drought and septic system). There is a 50 inch 'Smart TV' to turn on for your favorite music through Pandora, or watch a movie, and enjoy our high speed internet. The thermostat controlled propane wall heater warms the cabin up real quick too while you are building a fire in the stone fireplace. You are welcome to browse from our library of books that take you back in time to days gone by, or some that inspire, intrigue or motivate. When was the last time you played Dominos? We have a collection of games to choose from, plus a few books and toys for the children. The living room, kitchen and bath are on the walk-in level. Upstairs there is a master bedroom and loft - but please note, no bathroom on the level of the sleeping areas. The bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and reading nook. Close the black-out drapes, turn on the Sound Soother if you'd like, and settle in to sleep in... There is a creative ladder to the loft above the living area where we have two twin mattresses. As you can see in the photos, the loft is a very fun place for children, however, adults can not stand up in the loft so might not be suited for adults in your party. Best for children. There is a futon in the living room but it is a 'standard size'. Larger than a twin but smaller than a double. Suitable for one adult. Nightlights, light the stairs. A trip to Palomar is not complete without going to the world famous Observatory. Browse the General Store, have lunch at our only restaurant, Mother's Kitchen (yummy vegetarian) with delicious pie, and visit the Boucher Fire Lookout that is back in service. You can take off on a hike on the many miles of trails in the State Park and National Forest or fish in Doane Pond. There are several wonderful farms to visit. Cecilia has goats, sheep, chickens and a wonderful loom room for spinning yarns of all kinds. Glenn is our organic coffee roaster and also has heritage chickens that lay eggs in 'every color of the rainbow'. You are provided a map and links to the farms in our Welcome Book at the cabin, and also in our 'Tips for your Trip' we email with access info prior to your stay. There are also some wonderful day trips from Cabin Fever. The longest zip line in California is 20 minutes away. 30 minutes will get you to the delightful Bates Nut Farm, several casinos - Harrahs, Pauma, Valley View, or several winery's in Valley Center. Venture off the mountain an hour away and you can have so much to choose from. Discover Borrego Springs and all that desert community has to offer with 5 golf courses, the largest National Park in California, and some delightful metal sculptures peppered throughout become a photographer's dream. Temecula has Old Town, balloon rides, many wineries and lots of antique shops. The gold mining town of Julian is a great place to spend a day, set back in time about 100 years ago. Or, the Pacific Ocean is seen from our view lookouts and takes about an hour and a half. The nearest major market is an hour away, so in the Tips we send prior to your stay, we include the suggestion to bring all your groceries as it is quite a drive to stock up. Palomar is a place to 'not do' too. Enjoy a barbecue while soaking up the sun on the deck and take in the chorus of birds. However, one couple planned lots of outings but a few days later, when they were checking out, totally relaxed, said, "Next time maybe we will venture out of the cabin. It has such a wonderful ambiance and we loved it so much that we just had to stay in the entire time." You're invited to be our guest and come away to Cabin Fever! Just to clarify, I am not the owner of this property. I do the marketing for my son and his friends who own this cabin. I do this as a free service, as I also live on on Palomar, It's amazing what we do for our kids. Hope you can join us on the mountaintop! Meanwhile, we have many Five Star Reviews on websites. Here are just a couple: +++Cabin Fever is such a beautiful cabin. It was all we had hoped for and more. Our children enjoyed morning, noon, and evening adventures exploring the hills and climbing trees. It is the perfect getaway, especially for two country folk who are stuck in the city. This place is the perfect way for us to show our children how Mom and Dad grew up. We will definitely be back and will be sending all our friends this way too! +++My husband and I loved our stay here. The cabin has so many modern conveniences, yet maintains rustic charm. The deck and view are wonderful! We went to the cabin knowing there would be rain. We were excited when the weather turned to a good storm! We loved being surrounded by the trees swaying in the strong wind, the sound of the rain on the roof and the clouds blowing past the windows. It made sitting in front of the large fireplace all the more cozy. The privacy and peacefulness of this place makes for a great getaway! We really enjoyed our stay and Bonnie is so warm and welcoming. We look forward to returning soon! +++What a wonderful family retreat! Our children enjoyed hiking, s'mores horseshoes, and star gazing. My husband and I enjoyed reading with the wind in the trees as our white noise. Thank you for such a restful place with everything we needed. +++Cabin Fever is perfect in every way, the drive up the Mountain is amazing with all the twists and turns, and you look with excitement to see the Cabin and you will be blown away when you see it. It is cute from the outside and very cozy inside, with everything you need and more. We stayed for 5 nights and wish we had stayed even longer. We enjoyed lighting the fire each night and toasted our bread by the fire like we did when we were kids. The decking area is so peaceful and watching the stars is amazing. We brought our Mountain bikes from home and we hiked, walked and rode trails all around, going down hill on our Mountain bikes at Noble Canyon was just awesome. Julian is a must for apple pie, we went back 3 times!!!! So our advice is stop looking at other cabins this is the one and we are already planning to go back next year, which says it all. Thank you Bonnie for all your help and advise and your quick response to our emails, it was lovely to meet you. We will take great memories of our stay back home to Ireland. Compiled by PalomarMountainCabin.c-- The Lilacs Cabin was once part of the Bailey family homestead, but now has separate ownership. Homesteaded in 1888 this was the center of Palomar town-ship life with a post office, soda fountain, dance hall, general store and hotel. Today city dwellers, like the Native Americans before them, wanted to get away from the semi-arid summer heat or enjoy the seasons in the lush pines and oak groves. As a result, by the early 1920s the Baileys build a few hand-crafted cabins including the Lilacs, built for grandma; Looking for a Mountain Cabin Rental or affordable family Vacation Rental? We look forward to having you as a guest at Cabin Fever!

This historic – and truly charming – little heritage abode is perfect for that quiet weekend in the woods! Our Applewood Cottage is cozy A-frame set far back on our gated, 60 acre family legacy ranch. Nestled under a hundred foot forest canopy of mixed hardwoods and conifers, it overlooks miles of undisturbed virgin forest. The Bailey family homesteaded here in 1887, and we’ve thrived on this land for over 125 years. We’ve carefully maintained the flavor of Applewood Cottage as the former woodcutter’s place from “way-back-in-the-day.” The newly remodeled interior sleeps 4 persons. There is a double bed on the floor of the open loft, accessed via sturdy, ladder-type steps - which adds a unique bit of wonder that many of us remember from a simpler time long ago! Below in the living space is a futon sofa-sleeper just across from a delightful isinglass wood burning stove – and all the split oak firewood you require. Here you will also find a TV, DVD / VCR, stereo, and the accoutrements you would expect in a complete get-away cottage for two – or more. ?The kitchenette has a modern refrigerator / freezer combination, a stove / oven, microwave, and coffee maker as well as a full set of cooking utensils, dishes and the like. The spacious bathroom has a large shower – and you’ll find fresh towels, linens and bedding throughout. ?Directly outside is the requisite picnic table and propane BBQ (all fuel is included). And set slightly above the cottage is a private outdoor campfire surround, exclusively for our Applewood cottage guests. From that vantage point, the deep-forest view includes a glimpse of big Palomar telescope domes far across the mountain divide – and the deep-sky view of magnificent heavens far across the celestial divide. Be sure to bring your “sa’more fixin’s” along, and plan to gaze up during the incredibly clear, star filled nights here on Palomar Mountain. Our family’s 60 acres hosts breathtaking scenery. Palomar has one the most bio-diverse and unique environments Southern California, and our dark, undisturbed forests and rich green meadows are sprinkled with wildflowers and an amazing array of wildlife. Observant visitors may spot deer, fox, coyote, raccoon and bobcat. Wild turkeys often troop-through the area, and there are dozens of bird species - including colorful song birds, proud raptures, and even the rare and elusive Spotted Owl. For the fishermen we have a stocked fish pond a short walk from Applewood Cottage. Here we maintain a breeding population of bass, blue gill, perch, red ear and catfish for catch-and -release anglers of all ages. For over a century Bailey’s ranch has been drawing from a natural, artesian spring, which is located on our property. You’ll enjoy some of the finest, unspoiled drinking water on the planet right from the tap – as have hundreds of our guests for more than a dozen decades. For six generations now, our family has proudly owned and operated this enchanting and historic destination a mile high in the Southern California sky. And we now offer you Onsite Massage Therapy, guided Nature Hikes, Birding Adventures, Private Observatory Tours, Star Gazing and more. ??If you enjoy local history – and love antiques - you will have to take a moment to savor our family’s private museum. Baileys homestead-turned-resort was the original township of Palomar Mountain. The 100 year old Post Office, General Store and Dance Hall have been carefully preserved and maintained by our family, and we offer you the authentic look-and-feel of days long gone by. Our tours and services are arranged by appointment – and we always look forward to showing you around! For additional hiking and fishing, Baileys is just a few minutes drive from Palomar Mountain State Park. And don’t pass up a visit to Palomar Observatory – this preeminent astronomical research faculty in Southern California has a marvelous visitor facility. Thank you for your interest in our Applewood Cottage, we look forward to hear from you soon! ~ The Bailey Family ~ Keywords: cottage, cabin, private cabin, private cottage, mountain cabin, mountain cottage, private mountain escape,

Restful. Relaxing. Romantic. Dreaming of slipping away to an enchanting log cabin in the middle of a beautiful forest? The owners designed and built the cabin from cedar logs milled on the property. It could be a movie set! Have you ever watched Bonanza? It was filmed on the Ponderosa in Northern California. This is Palomar Mountain's 'Ponderosa' where Little Joe, and all the rest would feel right at home putting their feet up at this charming log cabin. Extremely private, you access the property through a locked gate and travel a paved road a mile and a half to the cabin. If you are looking for privacy, you have found it! Step into the old west! The great room is open to the kitchen with a welcoming wood stove that you really appreciate when the snow is falling. There is a big dining table to gather 'round for meals or for old-fashioned fun when you get those games out. The younger set might enjoy sitting at the counter that is a slab of cedar from the property. The kitchen is fully stocked for you with everything you should need for cooking and serving your meals. Stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, crock pot, beautiful new set of cookware, all you need to cook and serve your meals. Step out on the patio and a new propane barbecue is waiting. The walk-in level has the large master bedroom with a very comfortable queen bed also a full bath with a tub and shower. Upstairs is a game and sleeping room with another queen bed, two twins, and a sofa. A 42 inch TV DVD player, high speed internet and a telephone. Since this is such a remote location most cell phones don't work so you're all set just in case you need to dial out or check your messages. Lots of room to roam in the wide open spaces. Look out to the next ridge and you can see the world famous observatory, and High Point Fire Lookout. Originally built in the 1930's it was recently restored and now back in operation. A wonderfully inviting tree swing is waiting for kids of all ages, and a very creative picnic table also made with cedar from the land. Horse shoes are fun to be played by all. It is a star-gazers dream with our dark sky making the stars seem so much closer here on the mountain top. The Ponderosa is a nature-lovers paradise with deer, wild turkeys and lots of wildlife and wide variety of birds that also call this twenty acres 'home'. Are you a photographer? You will love it here. We have several field trips to local farms to see horses, sheep, goats, chickens, spinning and weaving, coffee roasting and carving and much more! The owners/story tellers make it a delightful 'step back in time'. * * * * * Our first guests over Thanksgiving left notes before we opened this website: “Thank you so much for opening your wonderful cabin for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here in the cozy cabin on your beautiful property. You really created something amazing, and we marvel at the craftsmanship that went into this cabin! Just a gorgeous, peaceful place! We hope to be back some day! All the best to you, Birte and Jim and Kids” * * * * * We had such a great time in the Mountains. Thank you for taking the time and sharing all the information. We visited Cecelia's farm. Such nice people and great experience. Kids had so much fun there. Getting warm, fresh eggs right from the chicken's nest was the best experience for Adam. Thank you, Katerina, Robert, Adam and Lucas * * * * * We're looking forward to doing our very best to make your time at the Ponderosa a wonderful holiday as a treasured memory forever!

Upper Meadow Lodge is the perfect place for a luxurious mountaintop retreat for 10 - 20 people. The land here is truly special, as are the spectacular mountaintop views from every room in this gorgeous like-new home. Here's what makes it truly special: ** Breathtaking Mountaintop Beauty ** The 200 year old Cedar tree circle that stands next to this home has been a site for reflection and healing for generations, from the native people of times past to our current gatherings. You will have a "mountaintop" experience every time you gaze out a window to see the far-reaching vistas, the ever changing tapestry of colorful clouds, hawks circling, and deer grazing in the meadow. Simply breathtaking views keep people coming back here year after year. **Incredible Solitude and Privacy** The house is surrounded by 20 private acres of Cedar and Oak forest and lush fern meadow. People describe the level of silence at night as healing in itself. Stargazing here is world-class, due to the lighting regulations that protect the nearby Palomar Observatory. Astronomers, bird-watchers, spiritually inspired people, and anyone needing to unwind will find this place an absolute treasure. ******************************************** We had an enchanted evening under a blanket of stars. We felt a little closer to heaven up here. Kathy A. ******************************************** **Luxury and Class** Why settle for a place that feels like a "rental house?" The Lodge was intentionally designed to be a special place to gather by the O'Neill/Seaman family. Built in 2009, it boasts soaring ceilings, huge view windows, hard wood floors, a top-of-the-line kitchen, and elements of class and elegance throughout. It feels luxurious, yet everyone remarks how it feels like home. Our caretakers, Manda and Carson, take exquisite care of both home and land, so you can enjoy elegant details and an abundance of beauty. **Ecology and Respect** Eco-design elements abound, from the ultra-insulated SIPS-panel construction and top-end dual pane windows, to the use of reclaimed wood beams, natural stone, and permaculture-inspired landscaping surrounding the home. We removed the "smart-meter" and utilize eco-friendly clearing and cleaning to maintain a pristine environment. Those who are sensitive to such things will feel the dedication to ecological sustainability, energetic stewardship, and deep respect for the land here. And just wait till you taste the water - pristine, perfect water from our deep onsite well flows from every tap. You will want to bring some bottles to fill and bring home! ***************************************** What a glorious place. The perfect place to have an inspired board retreat. - Board of Directors, Avalon Springs ***************************************** ** Uniquely Designed for Groups** Retreat leaders love this Lodge. They end up creating more retreats just so they can return here as often as possible! Groups feel special here. Twenty people can sleep comfortably in beds at the Lodge and in Fern Cottage. From the spaciousness of the spaces, to the comfortable beds, to the large hot tub under the stars, to the spa-quality natural soaps in the limestone showers and deep bathtubs, Upper Meadow Lodge is a perfect place to delight groups who come together with intention - to learn, to reconnect, to simply relax and unwind. Our onsite staff can be available to help with food preparation, and possibly bodywork and child care with some notice. We can also connect you with local catering contractors. **Really? This is San Diego?** People always remark at how unique this place is in all of Southern California! The lodge is just 90 minutes from San Diego, and maybe 2 hours from Los Angeles. Yet this forest feels lush, exotic, and primordial. Everyone always says, "This feels like Northern California" because of the richness of the landscape that is so different than the scrub oak forests of lower elevations. Yet Upper Meadow Lodge is the perfect home base from which to explore Southern California, including Disneyland, Legoland, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, The Wild Animal Park, Julian, Anza Borrego and Palm Springs deserts. Harrah's at Rincon, Pauma, Santa Ysabel, and Pala Casinos offer fine dining, gaming, and spa services nearby, and the shopping and dining of Escondido, Oceanside, and wine tasting of Temecula are just 45 minutes away. **Everyone loves the Lodge** You can bring your well-behaved pooch - yes! Kids love exploring here, enjoying climbing around on the rocks, exploring the forest, and playing on the swing set. (make sure to watch kids closely though, of course!) There is a ramp making the lodge wheelchair accessible on the bottom level (Sundance Suite) as well as the main level with the kitchen and gathering spaces. Our guest groups range from very high-end corporate groups to family reunions crawling with squealing kiddos. Everyone loves Upper Meadow Lodge! We respectfully decline heavy-party groups, heavy drinking events and anything that will take a toll on the forest. That way, the house remains elegant, and the forest remains pristine for the intentional groups we love to host! Please contact Elaine if you have questions or want to book. And if you are a retreat leader who needs to see the place before you book, let us know and we will try to arrange a one-hour visit/tour of the Lodge. If you let us know you're a retreat leader, will can also invite you to our occasional open house days just for group leaders. Thank you!

Welcome to 'The Lodge on Palomar Mountain', a historic 1920's retreat above 5600' elevation. The Lodge is located in the peaceful, rural, mountain community of Palomar Mountain CA, and is a proud part of rural San Diego's heritage. Contact us for event pricing The original log structure, known as The Palomar Mountain Clubhouse, was constructed in the 1920's by local craftsmen utilizing native timber and resources from Palomar Mountain. The Palomar Mountain Clubhouse hosted community gatherings and events which included dances, parties, weddings, and "inspirational talks''. In later years rooms were added which provided lodging for out of town visitors. In the 1930's The Lodge was known as Edgewood Tavern and hosted prominent world famous astronomers who traveled on the 'Highway to the Stars' to Palomar Mountain for the 1935 dedication of the Hale Telescope. For many years the lodge was named 'The Skyline Lodge'. A very appropriate name...as you can see the skyline of San Diego and Point Loma on a clear day! Make The Lodge on Palomar Mountain the destination for your next retreat, special gathering, or event! Enjoy this beautiful home and property all four seasons with level paved and plowed access on a county maintained road PLUS plenty of parking! Located in one of the most beautiful, least traveled areas of San Diego County, this unique accommodation was created by a artisan contractor couple with comfort and privacy in mind while offering a close to nature experience. It is a 16x20 fireproof safari tent on a 16 x 33' deck with handcrafted railings, furniture and details. The tent cabin has full kitchen designed for people who like to cook , a spacious bath with clawfoot tub, queen size bed with heated mattress, gas fireplace and deck that overlooks Oak Grove Valley. There is a DVD player, dvd library, WIFI for light internet use ( no streaming or downloading of music or videos is allowed), ceiling fans inside and on the covered porch. Hot tub on the deck as well as 2 chaise lounges and dining set for alfresco dining. The deck is designed to keep your pets in if you do not want them to have access to the yard area which is totally fenced with no-climb wire. It is suited for 2 people and is located on a private ranch in which the owners preside. IF YOU CHOOSE TO BOOK DURING WINTER OR SUMMER MONTHS, KEEP IN MIND TEMPS CAN RANGE FROM 20 TO 106 AND THE SHELTER IS A TENT....NO AIR CONDITIONING AND FIREPLACE DOES NOT KEEP THE TENT WARM WHEN IT GETS MUCH BELOW 50. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS IF YOU DECIDE YOU DONT LIKE THE WEATHER BUT HAVE 7 DAYS BEFORE YOUR STAY TO CANCEL. Our motto is 'you won't see us unless you need us' and we value our guests privacy so we leave them alone unless needed. Pets are welcome but because of deck elevation, it is not suitable for young children. The tent cabin opens to the outdoors at each end for views of the chaparral forest and can be closed during bad weather or evening. This exposure to nature has a wonderful relaxing effect and the japanese call it 'shinrin-yoku' which translates to 'forest bathing', or being surrounded by a forest environment. The main draw to this area is it natural beauty, remoteness, privacy, abundant hiking and biking trails, leash free dog trails and winery's.

If you want PEACE AND QUIET, you have found a special place. For faster service TEXT me 619-871-9354. The Lilacs is a beautifully restored, cozy 1920's Redwood cabin on Palomar Mountain just one hour, 25 minutes from San Diego. The cabin has three bedrooms and two baths, full kitchen, an original rock hearth, and is simply FULL of fun, atmosphere and special vibes. The original Redwood walls and timbers were hand-assembled by craftsmen some 80+ years ago. I recently renovated it all and worked hard to preserve as much of the original character and charm; including hand-made cabinets, walls, doors and windows. Then I totally upgraded and spiffed up the bathrooms and kitchen. The cabin is located on the ever-peaceful Evergreen Trail in the Bailey Meadows area, by most accounts the most historic and quaint part of Palomar Mountain. ( a heavy day of traffic on Evergreen Trail is 4 cars a day) Besides relaxing, there is lots of scenic outing and lots to do on Palomar and the surrounding region.
