The SpaceDrive two hours from Medan 1,400 above sea level, to the plantation village Wake Up Thousand Mountain,(Silimakuta) Seribudolok. Off the beaten path to the traditional Batak village homestay. Clean home of Mama Girsang with ancestry of Batak kings and warriors. Mama Girsang's ancestral queen will welcome you into her home, the nicest and newest house in the village, offering an authentic clean and safe environment and insight into agricultural Batak village life today. You will have your own private bedroom with double bed. Your stay includes two meals per person per day, snacks and with unlimited tea and fresh water. Meals will consist of rice, vegetables, meat or fish. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire village and property. Interaction with GuestsMama / Queen Girsang will be your host and be with you the entire time as much as you wish. A guide will be hired should you wish to do some trekking. The NeighborhoodThe village in inhabited by 500 people, all farming family daily working their plantations. The house is next to the soccer field, primary school and church. Homes in the area are very modest and family live on very low and whatever their harvests can bring. Getting AroundWalking the entire Silimakuta village can take less than 30 minutes. Getting to the town of Seribulock for groceries and local warungs (restaurants) is by local bus for 25 cents, taxi for $4, or day motorbike rental for $5. Other Things to NoteThis is not a luxury vacation by any stretch. This is a real different vacation or journey, off the beaten path to experience the daily life in a remote Batik Village in North Sumatra. As the only homestay, you will be the only tourist in the village during your stay. In fact, months may go by before the village will see another tourist. Locals speak Batak and some Bahasa. English is very limited. Internet access is intermitent and slow, but for some strange reason, reception is best by the church. We recommend a local SIM card. Mama Girsang, the only one in the village that sells pulsa (phone/internet credit) can even top you up if needed. It is for persons with an open mind and a real sense of adventure. Life in parts of the village may appear very rugged or even primitive compared to western lifestyle. Unlike popular commercial and tourist district homestays or hostels, this is as real as it gets when in the category of homestays. This is the only homestay in the village.
