All of them can easily be accessed by bus, tram or train. You can purchase a Metro Ticket on board and this lasts for 2 hours use on bus, trains and tram. Other Things to NoteWe have a Bushfire Survival Plan which we implement on "severe, extreme and catastrophic" fire danger days. We will give you details on such days at breakfast. Adelaide has a dry climate and temperatures can be extreme. Winters are wet but piercingly cold, so layers, gloves, scarf and hat are needed. The SpaceThe ground floor apartment is nestled into the hillside making it very cool in summer and mild and cosy in winter. We provide detailed information to help you accurately understand the apartment so please take the time to read our full description. You will have your own private garden steps down from the driveway to your own entrance. The apartment faces north and all rooms look out across our garden and the lovely bush gully. You can look out over central Adelaide and catch glimpes of the CBD through the trees, or sit up on the car port area for the best view of the city skyline with a drink to watch the sunset. The kitchen, living and bedroom all have their own door access straight out into the garden so you can soak up the bush and wildlife. We have resident magpies, crows and other birds who are very friendly. Our neighbourhood Koala and Tawny Frog Mouth (an owl) visit for a day or so once a week so keep an eye out! Our street is a cul-de-sac so it is quiet, peaceful and very relaxing. The apartment is classic mid century modern with lovely exposed red brick. The bedroom is cosy and private with a comfy queen bed and quality sheridan linen. The room includes drawers and hanging rack for your clothes and a fan/heating. It has a block out blind and vertical blinds to control the light to your liking. The classic retro bathroom is right next door. There is a large shower with good water pressure and heat, a cabinet to store all your bathroom items and fluffy sheridan towels. Along the hallway is the modern kitchen with electric oven and stove top, including range hood. There is a full size fridge/freezer and microwave. A new toaster and kettle as well as fully stocked cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery mean you can cook up a feast. There is tea, coffee, sugar, milk and oil to start you off. Also in the kitchen in the european style are a washing machine and clothes dryer. Outside the kitchen is a washing line so we limit the dryer to the depths of winter. The very large living room has a dining table that easily fits four people. We have a collection of funky retro couches from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s so you can relax on your favourite mid century decade. Please note at this stage there is no tv. This large lounge is the space where we can set up a full double bed for you if you wish to have four guests or two guests each with their own bed. Off the lounge room is a stair that leads up to the entrance to our home. There is a curtain over the stair entry to give you full privacy plus there is a door at the top entrance to our space to separate the two floors. We don't use this entrance while you are staying downstairs. There is no aircon but again being built into the hillside it is a very stable comfortable temperature plus we can provide a fan and heater. You have a private outdoor area with seating to have a relaxing breakfast with the birds or enjoy a sunset drink. At the bottom of our garden is a petanque/boules court and you are welcome to use the set in the lounge for a game! Depending on the time of year in our garden you may spot koalas, kangaroos, all types of birds and in summer snakes! This is the Aussie bush. There are also a couple of secure options for bike storage depending on your preference for your wheels. Guest AccessGuests will have access to on site parking, all the facilities of the lower ground floor, use of the amazing native garden complete with pétanque/bocce surface (boules set supplied). Dan also has a good selection of bike tools & a bike stand too should you need to borrow them. Interaction with GuestsWe will be present during your stay and are always happy to answer any questions you might have. Otherwise we will respect your privacy be in the upstairs part of the house and out of sight most of the time. On the weekends or evenings in summer we may be out in the garden but will respect your privacy. We are always available via phone for any queries you might have. There is a stairwell between the apartment and where we live upstairs so there can be a small amount of noise transfer like muffled voices from the living room. Dan is a keen cyclist, so should you be keen on tackling some of the local hills, he'll be happy to show you around work permitting. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is serene, with lots of bird life, bush and refreshing gully breezes. You can do some lovely walks along the quiet streets in our neighbourhood. Locally, the main street of Blackwood is 5mins drive away with a pub, fish and chips eateries, some nice cafes and your standard amenities like banks/ATMs, petrol stations, supermarkets, etc. There is also a 24 hour petrol/convenience store 2mins drive or 10mins walk away. In the same location is a bakery, takeaway and pharmacy. The nearest large supermarkets at both Mitcham and Blackwood are 7mins drive away either up or down the hill. The Adelaide Hills wineries are only a 15min drive away, the famous McLaren Vale Wine district is only 40min drive, and the eateries and cafes located on the high streets of King William Rd, Goodwood Rd and Unley Rd are only 15mins away. For the explorers, Belair National Park, Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens/Summit Lookout and Watiparinga Reserve are only 10mins away. And of course the Adelaide CDB and all it has to offer is only 20mins drive away. Flinders Uni/Medical Centre is only 10mins drive. Lastly, if you are a keen hills cyclist, welcome to cycling heaven. The house is situated in the cycling epicentre of Australia, where the Tour Down Under is held in January every year and unlimited roads, hilly and flat await your tyres. Whether you're bringing your own road bike or need to hire one through VELO-PORTE, Dan has created the perfect series of routes through the hills that'll take in the best coffee and climbs for varying cycling tastes and abilities. Getting AroundGiven the hilly neighbourhood, we strongly recommend using a car unless you love exercising in all weather. Public transport options to/from the CBD include bus and train: either 5 min (uphill) walk to bus stop and a 30ish min ride into town (however this bus is infrequent outside of weekday peak times and doesn’t run at night) or there are two options for the train either a 5min drive down the hill then a 20 min train ride. Or a 3min drive/15min walk up the hill and a 35min train ride (with nice scenery). We are on the Belair train line and trains are about every 10mins in peak and every 30mins at other times. Other Things to NotePlease consider the following in deciding if our place is right for you: As we are in the foothills the neighbourhood is steep and undulating so even walking down our driveway or to public transport is a workout. So our place is easier if you have your own car or you really enjoy exercising! In Summer (Nov - Apr) it is essential you have your own car as we are in bushfire risk area and need you to be fully mobile and self reliant. We live upstairs and we will be on our deck and working in the garden and are here for a chat and to assist in any way. We have loved this part of our own airbnb stays across the world, but if you are looking for a 100% private stand alone accommodation our place might not suit you and you may hear us coming and going etc Finally, we will only approve guests who are fully verified and have reviews and/or references. We do not accept bookings made on behalf of others. Thanks for your understanding.

The SpaceWe have a self-contained apartment attached to our house with a modern kitchen, a ensuite bedroom (double) a dining room and lounge (which can sleep 2). We are situated 6 mins from Flinders University and hospital, 15 mins from the city or coast and 20 mins to vineyards at Mclaren Vale. The apartment is fantastic because you can have your own space but still have our family around to help you out with info on what to see and where to go in Adelaide. We are in the Mitcham area where there isn't much accommodation and we have 2 separate beds to sleep 4. One queen bed and 1 sofa beds. You'll have your own space in the apartment and a small outside area to use with your own entrance. If you are lucky one of the local Koalas may put in an appearance. We will be happy to help you out with tips on exploring Adelaide Our neighbourhood is a typical Australian suburb with a shopping centre nearby and with close proximity to the city and the beach. Its situated slightly south of the city so closer to McLaren Vale, where world class vineyards are and some famous beaches. We have a bus stop at the end of the street (5 mins walk) that will take you into the city. You'll probably need a car to get around and its best to hire one from the airport on arrival. We will try to organise a carpark but its not guaranteed but we do have a lock up garage for bikes if required. Guest AccessAlthough you are fully self contained we can easily leave you access to the laundry and we also have a lock up garage if required for bikes. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available for any info you need during your stay but will also respect your privacy The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is a typical Australian foothills property which means we have the luxury of the bush and its native inhabitants, like Koalas and Kookaburras without the fire risk that living in the Hills poses. We have Pasadena Green supermarket 2 minutes drive or a 15 minute walk away. It is a highly sought after supermarket full off local and organic produce at reasonable prices. Pasadena also has a target, bottle store, medical centre, lots of different takeaway food choices and a coffee shop thats open extended hours. Getting AroundThere are bus stops going north and south at the end of Stone street which is a 5 minute walk. Other Things to NoteWe do have a cat and a native lizard in the main house. The SpaceOne of the things I love about my place is its location between the city and the southern beaches and wine regions. Town is a short drive or bus trip and the Southern Expressway to the McLaren Vale wine region is two minutes away. If you’re coming to visit Flinders University or Flinders Medical Centre you’ll be right across the road. If you want to visit shops and a large cinema complex, Marion Shopping Centre is down Sturt road or heading the other direction will take you to the beautiful natural environment of the Adelaide hills parks and wineries. I’ve made this place my home, with recent renovations to the whole property it feels fresh and comfortable to live in. All of the appliances are new, there's Wi-Fi access and a smart TV so you can watch post-play services or plug in your own hard drive with movies. I grow lots of indoor plants here that love the ample sunlight and being on the second floor at the foothills there's a lovely breeze that fills the apartment. Guest AccessThe whole apartment is available including the two bedrooms, the bathroom, an open-plan kitchen and living area and the western balcony. Interaction with GuestsI love to travel and I know how great it is to get advice from people about their home. If I’m around in Adelaide I’ll be happy to help you out over the phone with whatever it is you’re looking for. I’m also usually just an email away if you have any other questions. When I’m not around my mum looks after the place and she will certainly be happy to do the same. The NeighborhoodThis neighbourhood is great because it’s full of foreigners who come to do research or work at the university and medical centre. My neighbours are from all over the world, they’re so friendly and respectful and we even cook for each other sometimes. Getting AroundGetting around is easy. If you have a car you can park onsite and driving into the city is pretty quick. The Tonsley train station is a short walk away if you are wanting to travel with a bike. Bus services are ample and can be accessed from South road, the Flinders University Terminal and Marion Shopping Centre depending on where you want to go. Other Things to NoteUnder cover on site parking is available for one vehicle. The apartment is located on the second floor, access is via a single flight of stairs.
