Situated on a lily pond it has stunning views out across the valley ,birder's will love the endemics as well as a long specie list and there are wonderful hikes to a kloof with a deck and small waterfall. The little hamlet of Baardskeerdersbos is about 5km's away with a restaurant or two and a small general supply shop and petrol/diesel pump. Major towns with supermarkets and shops, like Gansbay, Stanford , Arniston and Hermanus are within a half hour to an hour away. Baardskeerdersbos has a bi-annual Art Route that is very popular and local produce markets abound in the area, including the southern most brewery at Birkenhead. There many wine farms in the area such as Raka, Black Oystercatcher and First Sighting.

The SpaceThe seclusion and quiet amoung unspoilt nature is what makes this place special. The 300 year old sheperds hut, later enlarged for farmers and their ever expanding families, is a good 23km away from the closest village, Stanford, and 5km off the main road on a gravel trail leading to the deepest corner of a selfsustaining farm along the Boschriver valley. You'll be living 1,5km from your hosts, the closest and probably only people. The rustic farmstyle house is set snugly where the bread-and-beer-basket wheat fields - radiant green in winter and golden in summer - meet the foot of the Akkedisberg Mountain range - a fynbos paradise famed for its biodiversity and part of the World Heritage Site of the Cape Floral Kingdom: a magestic variety of extremely rare and unique wild flowers. Facing the daily sunset specticle from a grassy hill, the large sandstone deck is ideal for a tranquil glass of local wine. Braai would follow spontaneously among the trees, birds and frogs. And then the stars... Inside, for when it's cooled down and the bellies are bulging, is a huge lounge and fire place, stocked with wood, books and boardgames. The kitchen and dining room is basic and faces east, with a beautiful view of the mountain. The single bathtub and separate loo, serves the 5 basic bedrooms each fitted with comfy beds and high quality linen. An epic picnic spot by the river is 400m away, with a wonderful ice cold swimming pond under two old oaks, from where or to where the hiking and cycling adventures could lead. Numerous farm and mountain trails come together here and exploring is encouraged in all directions. Winter or Summer, a couple of days here will have you leave rested, rejuvinated, likely sunburnt, stiff muscled and planning your return. Interaction with GuestsYour Host lives on the farm, and is always available if needed, but Ill leave you alone once you've been shown the way. By arrangement we could have you over for dinner and cater for the group according to your demand. Guests will also be welcome to experience the life and labour of maintaining a farm, tending to livestock, beekeeping and facing the elements. We also offer guided fynbos 4x4 trips and will supply maps for local adventures as well as ideas for activities and entertainment nearby. There are a couple of wine cellars and farm restaurants on route to the closest towns in all directions. And each of Stanford, Napier and Elim have their own unique magic to discover. The NeighborhoodThe Boskloof farm is roughly 25km from a couple of tiny charming rural villages Stanford, Napier and Elim. We are 45km from world famous whale watching capital Hermanus, and Gansbaai where you can try Shark cage diving. Along all routes to these towns are farm stalls and wine cellars abound, all scattered along beautiful mountains and rolling wheat fields on the way to the coast. The nearest beaches are Hermanus, Gansbaai and Struisbaai, all in different directions and super special respectively. We provide maps and information of all the attractions in the facinity. Getting AroundYou'll need a car to get here. No public transport available. The 5km gravel road is sometimes rough but driving carefully, a normal clearance vehicle will suffice. We offer guided 4x4 trips up the mountain only, and only by arrangement. We do not allow you to take unsupervised 4x4 trips. Other Things to NoteThe closest supermarket is 25km away. Plan catering well and thoroughly. The Kitchen has a big fridge freezer for all your supplies. Water supply is rain water from the mountain. Its brownish in colour and tastes great. Its natural, untreated and safe to drink. If like most people you preferre bottled water, be sure to stock up before you arrive. We supply 2 bags firewood for the braai, additional wood can be payed for. Please excersize extreme caution when making fires. Only build fires in designated spots. Our vegetation is extremely vulnerable to runaway fires that spread extremely quickly and destroy thousands of hectares yearly.
