Enjoy the tranquil setting of The Anchorage offering wonderful views of the river and only ten minutes from the heart of Hobart. Nestled in the leafy suburb of Taroona our spacious apartment offers everything a visitor could require and more. Imagine enjoying a well deserved glass of wine on the balcony whilst being soothed by the relaxing sounds of the water feature nestled in the garden below. We offer an open plan dining, lounge area and a well equipped modern kitchen plus two spacious double bedrooms (with queen size beds) and one twin room. Perfect for a family or two couples (can accommodate up to 6 adults). One double features an en-suite and the other double has sliding door access to a full size family bathroom (with a bath). Off the second bathroom is a separate laundry with a front loader washing machine and dryer. Or if you prefer to let the sun dry your clothes there is a private clothes line just outside. If cooking isn't on the agenda, we are only a few minutes walk to the Taroona Bar & Bistro offering a delightful a la carte menu or wood fired pizzas (open 7 days a week). A terrific option after a busy day's sightseeing! Alternatively, pick up a scrumptious treat from the Picnic Hamper (the local bakery/cafe), just across from the bistro. They also offer a delicious breakfast menu (and make a great coffee) plus it's a handy place to pick up the makings for a picnic to take on your daily travels. Whilst you're there, make sure you ask the locals about Hinsby Beach (a lovely beach within walking distance from the apartment). It's very private and the perfect place for children. The beach can be accessed from a coastal walkway where locals take their daily exercise along the river front. Lipscombe Larder is also only a five minute drive up the road and offers the finest gourmet food and a good selection of Tasmanian wine so it's well worth the visit! If you are staying on longer and want access to a supermarket, you can either drive 10 minutes up the road to Sandy Bay or take the scenic route to Kingston (also only 10 minutes) where you will find a large array of shops and services. The road to Kingston is also the gateway to the beautiful D'Entrecasteaux Channel where you can discover restaurants, wineries and beautiful secluded bays. Why not jump on the Bruny Island ferry (from Kettering) and discover cheese makers, sample delicious fudge or take a wilderness cruise that circumnavigates the Island? You will experience the thrill of visiting dolphins, whales and seals and the beautiful rugged coastline. Or if you prefer a more laid back day just head to the Huon Valley and join the wine trail or mooch around antique shops and discover some hidden treasures. Heading north, you can experience a day at MONA, take a leisurely stroll around Salamanca or visit the historic site of Richmond. In fact whatever direction you decide to take, The Anchorage is the perfect anchor point to come home to after a day's sightseeing.

It is particularly famous for Cradle Mountain, the Stanley Nut and Boat Harbour. Increasingly it is becoming famous for the Tarkine wilderness, one of the world's largest temperate rainforests. In between these icons there are a multitude of natural and cultural attractions. Volcanoes and glaciers of the distant past have shaped the entire area and have given rise to a great diversity of landscapes and ecosystems. There are a host of waterfalls, lakes, mountains and rainforests, valleys, plains, sand dunes and beaches. Burnie, a town of some 20,000 people has experienced a mini- Renaissance in recent years. There's a thriving restaurant and cafe culture in the CBD which is walking distance from Seawatch B&B. At one end of the CBD, is the beach with its Grand Designs style surf club and its long boardwalk leading to the equally impressive Creative Paper museum /workshop . At the other end is a busy freight port, which also harbours the occasional luxury liner. Elsewhere on the coast there are galleries, cafes, vineyards, wild rides, abundant short walks, cave tours, mine tours, museums and the list goes on. The wild ride at Dismal Swamp ( a 40 metre fast slide that empties into a rainforested sinkhole) is classed as one of the top five in the world by the Lonely Planet Guide. If it's a rejuvenating journey you are after, you will certainly be coming to the right place! Nearby Coastal towns Wynyard. Sixteen kilometres to the West of Burnie, and worth a visit, is the seaside town of Wynyard, . Fishing, golfing, scuba, scenic tours, dining at the jetty, antique cars, wildlife tours and seaside markets are just some of the local options on offer there. The Burnie Airport is located at Wynyard. Wynyard itself lies at the base of the long extinct volcano of Table Cape and adjoining Fossil Bluff, a 100 metre high headland with exposed fossil layers. There are abundant historical remains of both European and aboriginal settlement in the area, such as Highfield House in Stanley and the aboriginal middens of Rocky Cape National Park. There are also many artists and photographers who derive their inspiration from this rich environment, particularly in towns like Sisters Beach. Penguin another pretty seaside town and also 16 klm from Burnie, this time to the east. Be sure to take the old coastal road to Ulverstone, the next coastal town to the east. Devonport - situated on the Mersey River, similar in size to Burnie and the location of the state's only interstate ferry. Cradle Mountain World Heritage Park - Don't miss this unique place if you have a day to spare
