The SpaceThe HOUSE is a 1890's circa built farm (URL HIDDEN) Captain E.J.Russell .The house and property was hit hard by hurricane Sandy and I've been struggling to just revive the house and grounds. I thought Air B N B would be able to help, and at the same time allow me to share the beautiful surroundings with artist and nature lovers. If you are into Hunting , Kayaking ,fishing ,boating art and nature photography, this is the place for you . The house and FARM is in the Chesapeake bay side village of Hunting Creek .You can walk to the dock to crab or fish or launch kayaks. Hunting Creek will promise a magnificent kayak tour. I have cats ,dog and parrots in the home, and geese , horses , peacocks and chickens outside.. It's a farm..! The sounds of nature surround you day and night .Peacocks yell at night and geese and chickens will serve as an alarm clock in the morning. Please , please , do not book, if you are looking for all the comforts of the Holiday Inn or Comfort Suites .. I am NOT a Bed and Breakfast or a hotel.I offer a comfortable, clean, room, in my personal home , with No TV service in the bedroom . I advise against a stay if you are allergic to animals also . The guest bathroom and bedroom are clean, , but the fixtures and furniture are are old. The house is under some renovation.Common room has Satellite TV, which guest are welcome to use . The guest room has a full size bed in a large room, with A/C . Feather bed provided for the winter months . A Bathroom/shower , for guest only, is across the hall. The guest room is the only area of the house that has A/C.. .We have hard water here, which means it's well (URL HIDDEN) fine for showering ,and cooking , but I do provide bottled water for drinking . The sounds of farm life start early here.. roosters , start early and peacocks scream in the (URL HIDDEN) if your sensitive to nature, I'd advise against a stay here.. Guest AccessKitchen , deck, porch, Library . TV , stereo in the main living room, all welcome to for use. I do not have wifi. Your more then welcome to use the kitchen and outside grilling area to prepare your own meals . Refrigerator storage for your goods is available.I only ask that you clean up after yourself and leave things as you find them . The coffee maker is a single serve Kureg, which I will leave instruction for . Bottled water will be supplied in your Bathroom and Kitchen for drinking , along with coffee and teas. I have hopes to get the pool operational in the near future, but as of this time it is still down . I ask that no one smoke in the home.. but porch area is available . I have 2 parrots that live in the kitchen.. I warn everyone about interaction with them as they can bite if provoked, but for the most part they keep to themselves. I also have 2 indoor/outdoor cats and a lovely dog, all share the home. I keep the guest room door closed to prevent the cats from using that room. The geese may greet the cars, as well as the peacocks. Interaction with GuestsIf you have pet allergies I advise against a stay here. I have house animals, although no animals have access to guest room, the house is well lived in by cats , a dog and parrots . For an additional fee at reasonable rates I can offer Horse back riding for 2 on the Assateague National Wildlife Refuge Beach area ( for experienced riders only ). Please inquire. .I would hope to welcome you in , but in some cases I have had to leave before my guest arrive , but I will communicate via text to leave instruction or answer any questions. The NeighborhoodBay side village..walk to dock .Bring your crabbing nets Art Supplies , Cameras and kayaks. Hunting Creek is a great kayaking tour. Boat ramp is 1 mile away. Hiking in the marsh is great for camera bugs and hunters. All Artist and Naturalist welcome! Getting Aroundmake sure you have a GPS.. My area is remote.. The closest eating is a diner type bar and grill in the town of Parksley, 3 miles away. Onancock has several fine dining restaurants, but because I am so remote, and the drive can be dangerous in the dark, because of deer, it is better to go and come back well before dark, if you are not used to country driving. Chincoteague Island is 40 min. North East of us, off highway 13. There is always plenty to do there. Beaches , ponies , Lighthouse and park , to name a few. Any Pictures of your stay would be appreciated . Please post on our (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page , The Enchanted Cottage of Hunting Creek Art Retreat. Thank you . Other Things to NoteYour pets are welcome if well behaved and kept on leash while outside if they chase geese or chickens . Please don't come here if you are looking for "easy to get to" and conveniences . This place is remote and not for everyone.. I guess you could say it's a step up from camping on the Chesapeake bay. This place is a 9 ac farm with animals .. , geese, peacocks, chickens and horses.. the water is hard. Please by pass me and go the motel route or the B and B route , also in the Onley or Onancock area!. Check out by 12am of the day following check- (URL HIDDEN) Dryer available for 1 regular size load, during stay per day.

The SpaceAs the pictures show, we renovated Sunny Bay cottage last year and it is professionally designed. Charming details, such as "ocean liner" bunks, butcher block island, antique furniture, abound. The views are wonderful. Use the deck to watch the sunset. Wake up to the sound of birds. Guest AccessProperty has docks, paved boat ramp, barn and main house. Guests have access to docks and boat ramp plus adjoining garage Interaction with GuestsWe are not always in residence but the neighbors are friendly and always happy to help. The NeighborhoodWalk back in time to when life was lived close to the land and water when you stay at Sunny Bay. There are still working watermen and women in the village. Call and they will bring fresh crabs to the door. Neighbors are welcoming and love to gather on the porch. Stargaze at night with a sparkling display on clear nights. House has docks and a creek leading out to the Bay for easy kayaking or boating. Explore a different deserted island each day. Take the bikes out on the largely flat roads. Visit charming small towns like Onancock and Wachapreague, "the Flounder Fishing Capital of the World (!)" We wanted a beautiful and welcoming place for family and friends and this is it. Getting AroundNo public transport but great for boats or kayak trips Other Things to NoteThe cottage is near prime fishing spots where flounder, trout, rockfish and other fish abound. It's also 40 minutes by boat or ferry to Tangier Island, a community of 500 watermen and their families that dates to the 1680s. Ferries to Tangier leave from Onancock each day in summer. Chincoteague, famous in the lovely children's books about the wild ponies, is 35 minutes away. We almost always spot ponies when we go there. Wallops Island, now a major rocket center with a museum, is 35 minutes away for the space enthusiasts in your family. Stay at Sunny Bay and catch the next satellite launch.

Unlike Chincoteague, this is a rural setting - the neighborhood is eight houses along Metompkin Bay. But it's an easy half-hour trip to Chincoteague if you'd rather go to the beach there. Our beach is a 15-minute kayak trip away (there are two sea kayaks included in the rental). There are also lot of little creeks in the marsh to explore by kayak. If you have a boat, there's a public boat ramp close by. Our neighbors often fish in the bay, and surf fishing is great at certain times of year. We have crab traps - the crabbing is pretty good off the dock. If you are birders, there are all sorts of places to go (ask me). Onancock (10 minutes away) is where we go for nice restaurants and charming little shops. Lots of other attractions are shown in this listing. We have decks all over the place - two on the water side and one on the land side, in addition to a screened porch - lovely views in all directions. The house is almost all windows on the water side, to take advantage of these wonderful views. The living room/dining room/kitchen is open plan and on the water side of the house. A bedroom, bath, and office are on the road side of the house. The office can be used as a third bedroom if an inflatable mattress is used. The bathroom houses a washer and drier that are hidden behind doors. The master bedroom and bath occupy the upstairs, and have an even better view of the marshes, bay, and even a glimpse of the ocean. The bottom floor is a garage, and has a laundry sink and extra refrigerator. We're about to sell the property, and have just gotten an appraisal. I'd be happy to send it if you're interested in buying the house.
