The SpaceCottage closes after Thanksgiving. Welcome To The Lake! Feel all your stresses melt away as you arrive to this rustic lakefront property with all the amenities. Unwind, read a book, take that nap. You deserve it. Our cottage in the woods sleeps 12 comfortably in two double bunk beds, two single beds and one queen. The cottage has breathtaking west-facing sunset views from the dock, the deck, the rec room and the large lower bedroom. Sunsets galore! You can enter the home from the upper level or the lower level. The upper level features an open concept dining room/kitchen layout with patio sliding doors leading to a brand new (2015) oversized deck. The gorgeous pine-stained kitchen also overlooks the water. Kitchen has all the major appliances (stove, microwave, dishwasher, fridge) as well as smaller appliances (toaster, toaster oven, rice cooker, kettle, popcorn popper, coffee maker). Cookware is there as well as cutlery for indoor and outdoor dining. Off the dining room is a bedroom (queen bed) with pine floors, a large closet and two windows overlooking the yard, driveway and firepit. There is also a 4 piece washroom on this floor with a tub to bath the little ones. Downstairs features rustic, 10" wide pine plank floors, a woodstove capable of heating the whole house and a large bay window overlooking the water. The living room provides walk out access to the trail leading down to the water. Off the living room is a fully equipped laundry room with a full size washer and dryer. This floor also features two more bedrooms - one furnished with 2 double bunk beds, the other with 2 twin beds - plus a powder room. Outside, a sloped trail leads you down to the water front where the floating dock faces west with a beautiful island view. WARNING: The trail is not recommended for those with mobility issues. It's like hiking on a hill. The water here is non-weedy and approximately 8' off the dock. The dock is equipped with a ladder to help you out of the water. The waterfront is rocky (as opposed to sandy). The lake is motorized-boat friendly and there is a free launching zone. A Welcome Book is provided with a map to the launch site. Since the lake is fairly small, just small fishing/tin boats are recommended. The fish are plentiful. Most common catch is bass. We routinely fish off the dock. You can tie your boat up right next to the dock (but it is a floating dock take care not to bump it) for easy access during your stay! Boat rentals can be found at the Port Carling Marina. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire cottage including the canoe. Please use appropriate safety gear. Paddles are provided. If they are missing or damaged, please report upon discovery. Life jackets are NOT. Please bring your own. Interaction with GuestsWe are not on the property during your stay. If you encounter any issues, give me a call and we will look into it promptly. The property is fairly private and tree-lined. It's more private at the water than the firepit. The road-side is flat and level and ideal for evening campfires, bocci ball (not provided) and more. The trail to the water is sloped--a fairly significant slope. Consider it a downhill hike. There are no defined steps tread with care and please supervise your children. The NeighborhoodThe Town of Magnetawan is small town with all the amenities. There is a local bait and tackle shop (with gas pump and propane exchange), antique shops, an LCBO, boat launches, home hardware, a historic lock, 18-hole golf course and much more to keep you entertained! The people are friendly and happy. Local restaurants: Check Tripadvisor for Magnetawan as I can't supply links here. Getting AroundYou will need a car to get around. Other Things to NoteThe sloped trail to the waterfront is not recommended for those with mobility issues. Please inquire if you are concerned. Please remember, this is a cottage in the woods, not a Ritz Carlton. Mosquitoes, spiders, ants, creepy crawlers, deer, and chipmunks are not going to be uncommon. Things you need to supply: 1. There is a propane BBQ but you need to supply your own propane. The local Bait Store has an exchange program (approx $25). So if you use up the existing propane, please exchange it. ***BBQ IS CURRENTLY OUT OF ORDER** SORRY!! NEW ONE FOR NEXT YEAR! 2. You must provide your own sheets and towels. The beds in the home are 4 double beds, 1 queen and 2 twins. Do not use our sheets in the closets--those are ours. There is laundry onsite. 3. You need to bring your own life jackets, should you need them. One canoe is included in the rental. 4. You must supply your own firewood. Please purchases locally to reduce the spread of non-native bugs. Again, if firewood is there, you are welcome to use it. If you use it all up, inform me so I can order more. I don't guarantee supply but I do try to keep it stocked. 5. You do get cell reception in the area and at the cottage. No internet is provided at the cottage but the library in town does offer free internet and wifi. 6. There is a Tassimo machine at the cottage. Supply own Tassimo cups. There is also a conventional coffee maker. 7. Unless I am informed from a previous renter that an item has stopped functioning, I am under the impression that it is functioning. I will do my best to accommodate when/if something isn't working during your stay but I cannot guarantee immediate repair-- especially if you're only there the weekend. 8. The house is built on wood foundation and is situated in the woods. I apologize if this results in the occasional mouse or insect inside. 9. Do not enter the closed barn-style shed or the locked door leading to the crawlspace in the laundry room. 10. Respect the property as if your own please. If an accident should occur, inform me immediately. Thank you.

The SpaceThis is a cottage/chalet for a quiet, family oriented vacation. Our neighbours have young children, and we want to be respectful of them. Set in the rugged landscape of the Canadian Shield, 15 minutes NE of Parry Sound, Ontario, on a small quiet lake. (3 hours drive north of Toronto) Enjoy all the comforts of home in a picturesque three bedroom chalet. Enjoy the beautiful knotty-pine cathedral ceiling in the master bedroom. Watch the hummingbirds at the feeder, or the Loons on the lake. Swim, fish, hike, or explore the area between Parry Sound and Huntsville. Walking distance to the centre of McKellar with its beautiful library and convenient grocery store. (No smoking and no pets, no loud parties, and no bad language please. This is a quiet family friendly location.) Canoe and paddles are supplied. Wireless internet is available at the McKellar library. We do not supply a phone. Our guests use their cell phones. Water is pumped from the lake, so is not suitable for drinking. There is not a beach. Swimming is done off the dock. So we don't recommend our cottage for very young children. Guest AccessEntire cottage and a canoe. The NeighborhoodI love to sit and stare at the lake and the trees. If I want a dose of civilization, I can drive into Parry Sound where there are all the major services I could ever want. Or take a dinner cruise on Georgian Bay. But mostly I just want to hang out and enjoy God's beautiful creation.

The SpaceWhispering River Studio Retreat is just 10 minutes from Parry Sound and located in a woods of old growth white pine, maple, oak and birch, on the banks of the Seguin River. In spring the scent of flowering crab and apple trees, wild roses, lilacs and pin cherries fill the air. Fall features gorgeous colour on the hills, and nearby hikes feature views of the rocks and cliffs that make this area famous throughout September, October, November and early December. Winter is beautiful too - the season of retreat and rejuvenation is filled with pristine vistas - and lots of snow for the dedicated snowshoe-er or cross country skier! If you want to enjoy a community Christmas, come and enjoy the many, many local activities centered around this warm and friendly time of year. You are welcome to relax in the loft, the house's screened in porch, or on the studio porch or the look out and enjoy the gentle whisper of the river, or the wind in the pines. A short walk by the river is beloved by most guests - especially in the mornings when the mist often streams of the water. There is a Heintzman upright grand piano in good condition the house that you are welcome to use. My baby grand in a nearby gallery is also available for rehearsals, workshops and concerts upon arrangement. During the summer the Festival of the Sound at the Stocky Center is home to an International Classical Music Festival. String Quartets, classical and contemporary concert music artists grace the stage, and provide unparalleled musical inspiration for people drawn from all over the world. An organic meal plan is available for guests from Mrs. Wilson's Kitchen -a nearby health inspected bakery that offers meals to go. This is an all organic bakery located 7 minutes drive over a country road from the house, built on a registered Canadian homestead. I am happy to put you in touch with Mrs. Wilson so that you can choose your meals in advance. I have a propane gas stove, washer and dryer, and will provide you with bedding. There is a large whirlpool tub to relax in after a long hike through the maples, a paddle down the river, or a ski on a nearby trail. The Seguin River flows swiftly to Mountain Basin Lake - a short 15 minute paddle from the house. You can take trips in either direction. There is excellent canoeing ( although in late August and September the water is very low - but it is still well worth doing the two or three lift-over through shallows), hiking, cross- country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing and hunting nearby. Deer Run Golf Course, a beautiful informal course with a waterfall in its backyard, is just across the road. Guest AccessBuilt into a forested hill, the studio is ideal for your creative retreat. The studio building is separate from the house, spacious and well lit, with incredible acoustics. There is a sleeping loft, a bridge to the hill beside it to a lookout deck where you can write or just enjoy the view. In-floor radiant heating warms a local granite flagstone floor in the lower area - walking on it in winter is a true delight! A deck facing the river makes a great place to sit in large Muskoka chairs and enjoy the forest around you. Their is an upright piano in the living room in the house, and a baby grand is available for rehearsal at Straw House Gallery, just 20 minutes away in McKellar. You are welcome to use either for personal practice. Both are well maintained for professional use. If you wish, you may perform house concerts at the Gallery by arrangement with me and the owner of the Gallery. The venue regularly attracts approximately 30-50 guests. You may also perform at the studio or in the house if you want to have a more intimate trial audience! You are welcome to enjoy the house porches or the screened in porch over the river at any time. The studio has a well equipped kitchenette with a crock pot, rice cooker, kettle, sink, bar fridge with a small freezer and infra-red hot plate. Organic coffee and a selection of teas is provided. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer and large sink in the main house for your use. The firepit is a great place to enjoy a long conversation and some organic local hot-dogs! Interaction with GuestsI am a cellist, music educator and writer/composer who works out of the house, so I will be available to answer any questions or concerns guests have throughout the day. I will be present at the house during your stay, and happy to guide you around the area, feed you or not, or stay out of your way, as you wish! Please simply clearly communicate your wishes to me, and I will be there or not as you want. The NeighborhoodParry Sound is a thriving town. Boat tours, a major classical music festival, and a wide variety of summer and winter sports are centered here. Tours, hikes, skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and water sports, and scenic drives are part of everyday activities for guests in this area. The rugged beauty of Georgian Bay is close at hand, and Canadian Shield country lakes and rivers are here to explore. Getting Around I am 10 minutes from Parry Sound by car. Parry Sound has an airport, three railways and is close to Highway 400. Other Things to NotePets are usually welcome, but I would prefer to meet them first via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or in person. I reserve the right to refuse a pet but for the most part I love dogs, and they are very welcome. I am allergic to cats. I have a large crate available, and there are many dog sitting services near by should you need them if you wish to do day trips. I own a rescue border collie who is kept on leash for his own safety - and yours. I have many alternative, gluten free organic meals available, and am happy to provide a vegetarian meal plan.
