This is a beautifully appointed home set in a neighbourhood of substantial houses with manicured lawns and gardens. Leaving the car behind, at Olive Cove you may stroll to our local children’s park – Harbourtown Park, or set out briskly for the 3km riverside walk to the shores of Port Philip Bay and Carrum station for a train to the city. For the keen walker, local wetlands are a bird watching haven of international importance; and both the north and south bank of the river provide for a pleasant 1 ½ - 2 hour walk (6km return trip). Foot and road bridges are at each end of the 3km walk. You will find Olive Cove is ideally located with easy access to Melbourne city centre via the new 3 lane, M3 Eastlink tollway, accessed from Thompson Road Melway 98 A6 (no traffic lights for 36km). Several outer eastern business precincts – Dandenong, Cranbourne, Monash, Edithvale and Frankston are within a 10 to 17 minutes drive should you need to combine business with a few days R & R. Mornington Peninsular, with its wineries, gardens, water recreation and day spa facilities is a short half hour drive The National Watersports Centre for rowing is close by; whilst fishing, and boat launching for $12 also on Patterson River is possible. Not far away boat hire and fishing charter are available at Mordialloc Pier. Bream and Salmon catches are possible near the river mouth, and fishing and boating guides and cycling maps are available from the friendly and informative staff of the Parks Victoria office just before the railway bridge on the south bank of Patterson River. Throughout the year for those with a motoring interest, Western Port Bay’s Philip Island Moto Grand Prix track is only an hour away. Of course the island is well known also for it’s penguin viewing, seals and natural beauty. An excellent alternative for keen gardeners, lovers of native flora and visitors who are not able to travel to Australia’s outback, is a very reasonably priced excursion to the Royal Australian Native Botanic Garden at nearby Cranbourne. Landscaped into sweeping dunes with red soil from Australia’s centre and planted up year long to showcase the diversity of indigenous flora, this outstanding facility includes a quality gift shop, with books and artworks, and licensed café. Rates include full breakfast (cooked Oz style or continental).

A perfect place for couples or the single traveller to relax by the sea. In fact that is the name of our upstairs suite. Open the door to our "By the Sea" suite and you will enter another world. With decor echoing days gone by in the cote d'azure, you will leave your cares and troubles behind and be transformed to another place and time where the stresses of modern life melt away. Many years ago in a less enlightened time, the man who lived in the house where "Sailaway Beach House" now stands, embarked on a secret beach regeneration project. Planting thousands of indigenous trees and shrubs to save the dunes and maintain the natural character of the beach, he thought the authorities would punish him for his radical methods. Instead, after petitioning and case studies by other locals, his model was taken on by council and used along kilometers of Seaford beach. Today when you cross the road from Sailaway Beach House and walk the 50 meters to the beach, you will look along the shore and see why this humble man's efforts were so important to the unique beauty of this place. You will feel the pristine sand between you toes, look into the clear clean water, hear the waves gently lapping at the shore and soak up the feeling of tranquil isolation which is rarely found along the 260km of Port Phillip Bay's shoreline. Enter a relaxed beach lane, over a rise, look left and behind a weeping Agonis tree you will see Sailaway Beach House, nestled between the beach and Kananook creek. Our"By The sea" suite is a perfect getaway for one night or longer in all seasons. Enjoy long summer walks in a quiet and beautiful beach. Do some fishing off the pier. In the cooler months wrap yourself in our soft bath robes, let the exquisite scent of the bubble bath fill the room as you soak in the double spa. A large and varied Continental Breakfast is placed in your suite prior to arrival, that way you can sleep in , also provided is nespresso coffee, a selection of T2 teas together with home baked cookies and cakes. The shops, train station, cafes and the Pier are just around the corner. For those who want to venture further afield, peninsula link and eastlink are just ten minutes away by car. Please let us know if your stay is a special occasion so that we can add extra details to your suite to make it a memorable event. Please note that our "By the Sea " suite is an upstairs accommodation. Sailaway Beach House is a smoke free property. For your comfort we have added the following to to your suite. Bar fridge with freezer compartment. Nespresso coffee machine and coffee capsules. Microwave. Wine glasses. Bottled water. Iron and ironing board. Hair dryer. Shower gel, hand wash, bubble bath Enter a relaxed beach lane, over a rise, look left and behind a weeping Agonis tree you will see Sailaway Beach House, nestled between the beach and Kananook creek. The SpaceThe back yard is verdant and relaxing, and the house is light-filled, spacious and open, with a friendly feel. We live in a quiet street with friendly neighbours all round. We have access to shops and local amenities, as well as beaches, reserves and wetlands. Guest AccessBathroom, kitchen/dining area, living area, back yard. Interaction with GuestsGuests share the house with us, but we respect their privacy. Guests can interact with us as much as they feel comfortable. We do expect openness and friendly interaction from our visitors though. We offer as much and always hope for the same. Space is respected always, for all. The NeighborhoodSeaford was previously a holiday beach destination and it still retains much of that "village" feel - the Seaford Station being the hub, with a variety of small shops and cafes running up Station St to the foreshore. It is quiet and bustle-free and the jetty stretching out over the bay is a 'photo opportunity'. The Station area has restaurants, op-shops, IGA, chemist, gift and dress shops, florist, newsagent, bank, doctors . . . and more. We have a Farmers Market every month too - set up by the lovely Kananook Creek in the heart of the village. Getting AroundWe have parking on site and in the street. The train station is just down the road and there is also a local bus that gets you to Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. The Airport Bus also runs from this area. Other Things to NoteWe do have a part time smoker living here but smoking takes place outdoors. Be aware we have a cat and a bird, so if you are allergic or just don't like animals, then this isn't the place for you. It is an old house with one toilet. We just had major work done on the plumbing though so there shouldn't be any dramas. Really!

Seaford is home to several public park spaces including three with barbecue facilities and playground equipment. The Seaford Foreshore Reserve is one of the few remaining substantial, continuous strands of natural coastal vegetation near Melbourne. Seaford is notable for this reserve, which divides the beach from Nepean Highway along the whole length of the suburb. This reserve was the site for an extensive dune restoration program undertaken by the Port Phillip Authority in 1972, under the title of the "Seaford Experimental Project". The program involved extensive areas of fencing, revegetation and the installation of walking tracks, seats, tables and shelters. Seaford is serviced by both bus and train. Two railway stations are within the suburb – Seaford and Kananook – on the Frankston railway line. Both are in Zone 2. It is 73kl from Tullamarine Airport, taking an hour by car..
