We just bought, and renovated our second apt in Amsterdam. The apt is 600 sq feet, and has every amenity. The bedroom has a queen size bed, flat screen TV, two closets, and a DVD player. There are large glass doors that open to a terrace that has a small table, and chairs. The living room is really nice with a couch, bookcase, small bar, and dining table with four chairs. There are wood floors thru out the apt. Off the living room is another room with a comfortable futon, desk, laptop computer, CD player, and printer/copier. This room can be used as an office or another living room. We have Wi-Fi, and a Vonage phone that lets you make free calls to the US. There is a large, modern shower, and a separate toilet.
The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances, a dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, and a Nespresso coffee maker.
The furniture, and housewares are all new. The large double glazed windows in the living room look onto the street below.
The apartment is on the second floor of a four story building. It is the only apartment on the floor. It is a very comfortable place, with books, CDs, DVDs,, guide books, and maps.
The stairs(2 flights) are carpeted, and unlike many apts there is an easy landing between floors.
We have two very good friends who take care of the apartment when we are in NY. They renovated the apt, and so they know it well should there be any problem, and they live just a few blocks away. They are really lovely people, and wonderfully helpful. They will meet you with the keys, and explain whatever you need to know, and are always available should there be any problems.
There is a 500 Euro security deposit which will be returned the day you leave.
I also ask for a 25% deposit when you reserve the apartment. We accept Paypal, checks, or bank transfers.
. We charge an extra 10 euros a night added to the total for a third person to cover additional cleaning, laundry, etc.- Thank you.
The location is the Old West (the Bilderdijkstraat) which borders on the Jordaan, and is a 10 or 15 minute walk to the Center. The street is a wonderful mix of very nice restaurants, trendy cafes, and boutiques type shops as well as a supermarket,(almost next door) laundry, and drug store,as well as other neighborhood stores, and services. We are a few blocks from the Ten Katestraat market where you can get fresh produce, cheese, and other things. The famous Noordemarket known for its antiques on Monday, and organic foods on Saturday is a 15 minute walk. We are a 10 minute walk from Leidseplein, We are a few blocks away from De Hallen, the new food and arts center built in the old tram station. The
Museum Area (Museumplein) and Vondel Park are a 3-stop tram ride, and the tram stops right outside the door. The #17 tram goes directly to Centraal Station, and stops right on the corner. The walk to The Dam, and the City Center is 10 or 15 minutes., and the Anne Frank Museum is a 10 minute walk. It is a great neighborhood with all the conveniences you want and not overrun with tourists. We highly recommend you walk --Amsterdam is a great walking city --and/or travel by tram, which is a wonderful way to get around--and so we leave tram cards with about ten euros on each card to get you started. Schipol Airport is a 25 minute ride from Centraal Station.
