Start with an idyllic island. Put a fabulous cottage on it near the beach. Add a few wonderful people. Mix in a few gorgeous sunsets, gentle breezes, and fresh seafood dinners. Now you've just concocted the perfect vacation. Your paradise on Peaks Island is a very short walk to the beach (less than a block) and it has an extra large lot for playing in the yard. This beautifully renovated 3 bedroom house (2 rooms with queen sized beds, one with twin bunk beds, and a pull out sofa in living room, max 6 adults) comes with a fantastic front porch for old-fashioned entertaining, and a back deck great for sunning and star gazing. It's an easy walk from the ferry, and to the island's restaurants---unless you decide to enjoy dinner on that large deck out back which is right off the kitchen. And if you want lobster you can get them fresh right next to the ferry landing. Peaks Island is made for relaxing---the limited number of cars make for great walking and biking around the island. On Sunday afternoons during the summer you might enjoy heading over to Reggae Sunday at Jones Landing. Rent bikes and tour the island, or take a tour in a golf cart---our rent a golf cart for the afternoon or week! And the easy ferry ride to Portland makes it fun to have both the quiet of island living and the convenience of an urban fix (the Portland Art Museum is a real gem) and Portland's now known for it's art galleries and its fine dining. You can have it all! If you haven't been to Peaks Island, we know you'll fall in love with it just as we did. If you're already in love, then you understand why we have this special retreat! Please note there is a seven night minimum stay from mid May through September 15th . We cannot accept pets either due to allergies, sorry. Smoking is not allowed. State tax 7%. Linens are not provided. If you prefer to not bring your own, there is a linen service available. This ensures everyone has clean linens upon arrival. Peaks Island is a scenic 20 minute ferry ride from downtown Portland, Maine. The ferry ride begins your transformation from mainland mode to island---relaxation---mode. Suddenly you no longer have to worry about traffic, you become more aware of your senses as you see the sights of Casco Bay, as you feel and smell the cool sea breezes, and when you hear the minute warning blast of the ferry---you'll know you are just about to begin an amazing island experience. Peaks Island is a very popular choice for weddings, with two venues located very close to the ferry. Centennial beach is less than a block from the house and perfect for watching sunsets, or keeping cool on a warm summer day. The island's perimeter road beckons island visitors to bicycle and walk it (or golf cart it) with its abundant ocean views and shore access. If you're an artist, this is a dream location for seascapes! It's great for kids because of the limited number of slow moving vehicles. Drivers expect to be sharing the road. Peak's proximity to Portland make for a great rainy day option, or urban night seen fix. There is year round ferry service with the option to take your car over, or you can also have the ferry ship belongings over and then take the island taxi to the cottage. For more information about the ferry service check out Casco Bay Line's website. For those who choose to bring their car to Peaks, there is parking right at the house. If you decide to leave your car mainland, the city operates a number of convenient garages to the ferry. For more information: (website: hidden)

The SpaceCozy room in lovely house. Quiet and light. Shared bath & entry. 8 minute walk from ferry landing. Friendly host (please note that I am not at the house from November - April). Peaks Island is a great place to ride a bike, climb on the rocks, picnic, visit Portland for nightlife and great restaurants. Nous parlons francais. Parliamo italiano. Hablo un poquito espanol. Ferry ride from Portland is an idyllic 20 minute cruise. Cars are not really needed out here, and expensive to transport. There is an island taxi, and walking/biking are easy to get around. Peaks Island is an artistic community with old-fashioned entertainment like pancake breakfasts and intimate concerts in the summer. It's much quieter in the fall and winter, so nature is the call then. Information about getting to Peaks Island (EMAIL HIDDEN) The ferry schedule and costs are there. Also you can link to a map of places to park in Portland. There is a garage right at the ferry terminal, but it is often full and rather pricey. Other garages, or some of the open lots, are cheaper. Bikes can be brought over but they cost as much as people to bring. There is a bike rental on the island, which has a loose selection of bikes to rent, I think about $20 a day. (Not sure what months they are open). I usually have one extra bike, sometimes two. If you are planning to go into Portland while you are here, buying a book of 5 round-trip tickets is probably cheaper than buying single tickets, even if you don't use the last one. If you are taking a bus or train to Portland, the taxi from there to the ferry is about $10 plus tip. From the airport it is closer to $20. In the summer, there are 3 restaurants on the island, 4 bars, a grocery store an ice cream shop, and a few gift shops. A couple of art galleries, 3 small museums and lots of places to walk and wander. Some of these businesses close after Labor Day. Leave lots of time to get tickets and park a car if you are coming that way, especially on weekends. I hope that helps! From September - May, booking long-term only. Please contact me before making your reservations so I can give you more details about the house. Other Things to NoteSeptember - May are long-term bookings only.

The Space1 sunny bedroom with full private bath. Back deck and private entrance. Near boat landing and restaurants. Nicely furnished, 6 steps up to landing. Nous Parlons Français. Parliamo Italiano. Ferry ride from Portland is an idyllic 20 minute cruise. Cars not needed out here, and expensive to transport. There is an island taxi, and walking/biking are easy to get around. Peaks Island is an artistic community with old-fashioned entertainment like pancake breakfasts and intimate concerts in the summer. It's much quieter in the fall and winter, so nature is the call then. Information about getting to Peaks Island is through Casco Bay Lines (email hidden). The ferry schedule and costs are there. In the summer there are 3 restaurants on the island, 3 bars, a grocery store an ice cream shop, and a few gift shops. A couple of art galleries, 3 small museums and lots of places to walk and wander. Some of these businesses close after Labor Day. Leave lots of time to get tickets and park a car if you are coming that way, especially on weekends. I hope that helps! Please note that from November - April I am not at the house, but have someone who checks in on it. Please contact me before making a reservation for those months so I can give you more information. From September - May, booking long-term only. Please contact me before making your reservations so I can give you more details about the house. Guest AccessWifi in house, private bath. Ask about use of fridge or kitchen. Yard and picnic table available. Beaches 10-15 minutes walk. Interaction with GuestsI will greet you and show you around, give you a map of the island and some things to do. Then I will leave you alone, or we might visit over tea or a drink if you are in the mood. The NeighborhoodPeaks Island is a friendly community, very walkable and bikeable. Busy in the summertime. Portland has great restaurants and activities. Boats run until 11:30 pm most nights so you can enjoy the city too.
