A secluded, romantic get-away high in the Santa Fe National Forest, on the banks of the Pecos River, but just 35 minutes from fabulous Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pecos River Cabin is a 120-year-old, beautifully restored hand-sawn log cabin on nearly two pristine wooded acres, with 360 feet of river frontage. Watch the stars and listen to the river through the huge skylight over the queen size bed in the upstairs bedroom; downstairs, the pull-out couch with inner-spring mattress is comfy and full size for kids or friends. Enjoy breakfast on the large stone patio overlooking the creek that runs through the property, and grill your day's catch on the gas grill that evening. Prepare and enjoy meals in the fully equipped kitchen, where a full-size stove and oven, full-size refrigerator, microwave, blender, toaster, mixer, an array of pots, pans and cooking utensils and a large selection of spices and staples make meal preparation easy and fun. Spend the evenings with some of the many games and puzzles on hand, or browse the cabin's large library of books for all ages. (Check out "Shiva's Magic Lunch Box" for kid-size puzzles, coloring books, crayons and more!) Choose from a selection of movies and TV shows to play on the flat-screen television and DVD player in the living room. Soak in the deep tub in the bathroom, where luxury linens, robes and all toiletries are provided. The cabin stays warm and cozy with both thermostat-controlled gas heat and a woodburning stove in the living room. Wood is always provided.
On New Mexico's famous warm, sunny days, explore the island between the creek and river; relax in the hammock or read a book in one of the island's comfortable chairs. If you're of a mind to get your feet wet, try your hand at fly fishing in the robust, year-round Pecos River, one of the best fly fishing sites in the Southwest, where rainbow, brown, cutthroat and other varieties of trout will test your skills.
Hiking in the area is spectacular and accessible, as is horseback riding and visiting the many historic monuments in the area. And of course, Santa Fe, "The City Different," always has something happening for every interest, with a variety of museums, countless galleries and the market on the town square, where Native American artisans sell their wares.
Pecos River Cabin is the perfect place to celebrate a special anniversary ... hike, ride and explore the beautiful Pecos Canyon and surrounding wilderness ... rest, relax and reconnect with yourself, a loved one, and the great outdoors ... or just get away from it all. If you must stay in touch with the outside world, the cabin is equipped with high-speed wireless internet, and local and long distance calling are free.
