Peel Forest has a lot of different activities on offer, from walking on one of the many tracks, white water rafting, horse back riding, fishing in the Rangitata River for Salmon or Trout, Skydiving, Scenic Flights and much more. The nearest town is Geraldine only 20 minutes drive away where there is some great cafes, restuarants and shops.

There is a sign on the main gate, this will help to guide you to your accommodation. Access information given upon confirmation of booking. Interaction with GuestsWe live on farm. Our Hut Accommodation is very close to our Homestead. We are about most of the time. We enjoy meeting with our guests and chatting to you about our area and what it has to offer. We are also respectful of our guests privacy. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is a small rural village. We have a local Cafe called The Panthers Rock Cafe, also a Petrol Service station, a local rural school, and is home to 300 local residents. Getting AroundGetting to us and around is best by car. Buses are limited from Mayfield. There are a lot more Bus Transport options from Ashburton, Methven and Geraldine. Other Things to NoteOur Hut is situated in our Farm yard, our Farm is called Mayfield Farm. We run a 315 hectare Dairy Farm. Mayfield is 30 kms from Ashburton, Methven and Geraldine. Mt Somers is 17 kms and Mt Potts is within 35kms Mt Hutt is 48ks from our Farm to the Ski field Carpark. Mayfield our local village is 1km from our Hut. There is a very good Cafe situated in the centre of Mayfield with great food, beverages and great coffee. We also have a Petrol, Service Station for all your vehicle requirements.

      The SpaceAccess to the house The home is located in Peel Forest Scenic Park. Access to the house is via a 2-3 minute up-hill walk, including steps. Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access. Arrival times and House Cleaning Arrival from 2.00pm, Departure 11am, unless otherwise stated. The house must be left clean and tidy by the guests. There are cleaning instructions to follow upon departure. We reserve the right to charge you for a clean if this is not done satisfactorily. Linen must be washed and hung out to dry before departing. Protected Forest The Lookout is located in a protected forest, and has a permanent fire ban. NO FIRES are to be lit anywhere on the property or in the surrounding area (except the log fire in the lounge of course). Guest AccessThe house is situated on a hectare of native forest, with walking tracks to discover. The NeighborhoodPeel Forest is a stunning area with a large Scenic Park. Many walks, tramps and hikes and outdoor adventuring. Peel Forest Cafe & Bar is 5 minutes drive from the house, and they often have live music. Guest AccessThe cottage sits alone on a small section and, in season, there will be fresh vegetables available straight from the garden. Help yourself. You can even pull out weeds or water it if you want. Interaction with GuestsIf you need any help we live about a kilometer away or ph(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) The NeighborhoodPeel Forest is a small rural village boasting approximately 80 full time residence. We have a large deer farm on one side of the road and on the other are houses. There's a great little cafe/bar, Church, tennis court, childrens play ground and, of course, the magnificent, unique stand of native forest through which are multiple walkways from easy, wheel chair friendly ones to steep hikes to the top of Little Mt Peel. It is a unique enviroment for those who are sick of the noise, hustle and bumper to bumper traffic of the big tourist centres further south. It makes for an ideal stopover on the way to Christchurch for a flight out. No good coming here if you're looking for an exciting night life though. I think most of us go to bed at 9pm!! Getting AroundPeel Forest is a rural settlement so there is no public transport available. Other Things to NoteThe cottage's water supply does not have much height so the pressure is not that great but you're still able to enjoy a hot shower.

        The SpaceThis lovely 2 storey house has a spacious outdoor eating area, 2 living areas, one with a wood burning stove, a large dining room table, and a well appointed kitchen. The house can sleep 8 guests. On its main floor: a bedroom with 1 queen size bed with ensuite bathroom. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms: 1 queen size bed with ensuite bathroom and private balcony; another queen size bed with shared bathroom; and 2 single bed rooms with shared bathroom. Guest AccessGuests have access to the whole house with the exception of one locked storage room and cupboard. Guests have access to the gardens surrounding the house including the vegetable gardens (in season). There is a locked self contained flat within the grounds which is used only occasionally. Details are available of walking tracks on the farm and Deep Stream is available for fishing during the season 1 October - 28 February for Trout & Salmon (Fly & Spin), then 1 March - 31 March for Trout only (Fly & Spin). You will need to buy a Fishing Licence from Fish & Game New Zealand. Forest Creek Station is a working farm. Because we wish you to have a terrific and safe experience with us, we will take a few minutes to explain the property safety rules we all need to follow should you wish to explore some of our property and/or go fishing.
