The SpaceWe are a working goat farm. You are welcome to a panoramic view of us caring for the goats right from your window. In season, you may even see baby goats just below the apartment. Our gorgeous farm apartment comfortably sleeps 4 singles plus 1 couple. A 5th single person could sleep on the couch if needed. There is also plenty of room for entertaining guests. To us, this place feels like heaven, between the peace and quiet, nature sounds, wonderful animals, forest, and views. Guest AccessGuests have access to the full 161 acres (with a signed agri-tourism waiver), with the exception of the other private residences, but please don't enter fields or barns with goat guard dogs or without checking with the farm managers first. Interaction with GuestsWe let guests be, unless they're interested in having a conversation with us about the farm or need suggestions for nearby attractions. The NeighborhoodWe're in Caswell County, near Yanceyville, North Carolina, 6 miles from Danville, Virginia. The area has gorgeous scenery, some interesting historical sites and other attractions, great low-traffic cycling roads, as well as world class trails along the Dan River. Getting AroundA car will be required, unless of course you get around by bike! We are about 1.5 hours from Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Greensboro (GSO) or even Roanoke (ROA) airports. Other Things to NoteChildren 5 years old or younger are free. Each additional adult (beyond the first) and each child over 5 years old will incur an additional $20 fee per night, as stated in our prices.

The SpacePrivacy & historic ambiance beside Averett Univ. Sunny & quiet. Private bath recently remodeled w/ new travertine shower. Room furnished with antique iron bed (ca. 1890), desk, 1905 wardrobe, & comfy 1920s chair. Cable TV in adjacent room. This house was designed in 1913 by Virginia's foremost residential architect of the time, J. Bryant Heard, known for his use of millwork and his transitional use of neo-classical and arts & crafts elements. The house is directly across the street from Averett University (to be precise, across from the library). Your room has lots of light -- five windows, but there are pull-down shades in case you're photophobic! There's a small desk, suitable for studying or use of a laptop, and there's a big, 1920's vintage comfy chair. Your private bathroom has a huge travertine shower (there is no tub). In addition to your bed & bath suite, you'll have access to the breakfast room (where the cable TV is located (just adjacent to your room), living room, and porch. The internet hotspot is only somewhat reliable because of the thick lathing and plaster in the house. That's why I didn't check internet in the listing. If you need reliable internet service, the Averett University Library is just across the street. There is no gym, but a new gym and pool are available at a newly opened YMCA facility (website is (URL HIDDEN) approximately one mile away (a twenty-minute walk or a three-minute drive). There's also an enormous park, Ballou Park, just a couple of blocks away. Laundry facilities are adjacent to your room, if you need them. There's also a back yard (a crape myrtle forest in progress) that you can use for all your Zen moments. I'm delighted to direct you to good restaurants, give you driving directions, get you onto the Averett campus, or help in any way that I can. If you prefer total solitude, you can certain have that here. The house is big enough that you needn't interact if that isn't your wish. In fact, there's a back entrance that you can use to give yourself a little more privacy in your coming and going. This is a friendly neighborhood -- a good place to take a walk or go for a run. Several of the neighbors have been featured on recent Danville garden tours. Ballou Park, one of the oldest municipal parks in America, is just a few blocks up the street. Ballou boasts towering oaks and pine trees, trails, and recreation facilities. Walking to the Dan River (about a mile) takes you to some upscale restaurants and to a river-side trail. You'll also walk past the Sutherlin Mansion, now the city museum, but once the last capital of the Confederacy in April of 1865! There is public transportation, and a bus line goes directly by the house. However, a car is needed if you're going to do much sightseeing in the area. If you're doing anything at Averett University, it's just cross the street. The newly opened YMCA offers fantastic gym and pool facilities one mile away -- two minutes by car or about a 15 to 20-min. walk. Verten snakker norsk -- og forstår svensk og dansk -- kann auch ein bißl Deutsch sprechen. From here, it's only a short drive to VIR, Martinsville Speedway, Smith Mountain Lake, Fairystone Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Primland Resort, Morrisett Winery, and 45 minutes to Greensboro Airport, or just over an hour to the Raleigh-Durham Airport. Guest AccessThe listing notes that guests do not have access to the kitchen, but if you have any special needs, I'm happy to try to accommodate you. Interaction with GuestsI'm delighted to direct you to good restaurants, give you driving directions, get you onto the Averett campus, or help in any way that I can. The SpacePrivacy & historic ambiance beside Averett Univ. This house was designed in 1913 by Virginia's foremost residential architect of the time, J. Bryant Heard, known for his use of millwork and his transitional use of neo-classical and arts & crafts elements. The house is directly across the street from Averett University (to be precise, across from the library). You'll have a private, three-room suite: bedroom, dressing room, and en suite bathroom. Your bedroom is furnished with a hand-crafted, queen-sized, canopy bed, a wardrobe for your hanging clothes, an antique Eastlake settee, chairs and tables. The dressing room is set up with a breakfast bar with coffee and breakfast snacks. The bathroom features the original claw-foot tub that is outfitted with a shower. This is an old house, build with copious amounts of stucco, plaster, and lathing. A wifi signal will not travel well throughout the house. Consequently, I do NOT list wifi as an amenity. I will give you the wifi code if you would like to give it a try while you are here, but if you MUST have absolutely reliable wifi, this may not be the right AirBnB listing for you. (Free guest access to wifi is available across the street at the Averett University Library.) One guest complained and wrote a negative review about the wifi service -- even though wifi is NOT listed as an amenity. That's simply rude, unjust, and unfair. If you're going to complain about the wifi, please stay somewhere else. Or complain about the gym, pool, elevator or other amenities that I also don't have. Please note also that the master suite is on the second floor, and the entrance to the house is up a flight of stairs as shown in the pictures. The bed is ancient and high off the floor. The original claw-foot tub, now outfitted with a shower, is in the bathroom. If you have any mobility impairments, these facts may give you pause to reconsider this Airbnb listing. Guest AccessIn addition to your bed & bath suite, you'll have access to the living room and a spacious front porch. There is no gym, but a new gym and pool are available at a newly opened YMCA facility approximately one mile away (a twenty-minute walk or a three-minute drive). There's also an enormous park, Ballou Park, just a couple of blocks away. (For a variety of practical reasons, the kitchen is not listed as an amenity at this Airbnb, but if you have any particular needs, I'm happy to try to accommodate you.) Interaction with GuestsI'm delighted to direct you to good restaurants, give you driving directions, get you onto the Averett campus, or help in any way that I can. The SpaceMy place is very private and quiet. It's a full private apartment with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living area, and bathroom. It has its own private entrance from the garage. It has an Italian leather sofa, environmentally friendly cork floors, and cozy cedar ceilings. The bedroom furniture is top of the line high-end and the mattress has a memory foam top. The location is very safe, on a private road at the very back of a high-end neighborhood. The location is perfect for people desiring privacy and security. Guest AccessYou will have access to your own indoor parking place within the garage. You can respectfully enjoy the grounds. You will have a garage door opener and a pin-based keycode to the apartment. Interaction with GuestsI will most likely be staying in the main house where I live full-time. I will be available for things like restaurant tips and advice on things to do in the area. Bring some steaks and we can grill out. The NeighborhoodWe're within the city but you wouldn't know it from the location as we are on a private lake with no other house in sight. The neighborhood is perfect for relaxing walks or vibrant runs. Getting AroundWe are a five minute or so drive from the local movie theater, Sams Club, restaurant area, and mall. The city offers pickup on demand bus service to the property but there is no Uber or Lyft in the town. The Martinsville Speedway is about a 25-minute drive and VIR (Virginia International Raceway) is approximately a 30-40 minute drive. Other Things to NoteThere is wifi and a smart tv in which you can use your Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu account. There is HBO, Showtime, and Starz on the Directv package and you can record shows on the DVR and stream things from the Directv library.
