The SpaceListed only on AirBnB, we think ours is the perfect house to relax in, either after a day exploring the island or for a dedicated retreat. Wonderful panoramic views from within the living area and outside under the covered decking. The house is set up to allow the calmness of the ocean to be ever present. Escape the daily grind in an intentionally TV + wifi free zone - listen to some vinyl records by the fire, read a book in the hammock on the deck, or test your boardgame and jigsaw puzzle skills with your family and friends. Fully self-contained kitchen includes Miele oven/cooktop and dishwasher, a full cupboard of cooking equipment incl coffee plungers, and a microwave. There's also a barbeque outside if that's your preferred cooking method. We love the 'golden hour' at the end of the day watching the setting sun, the changing colours of the clouds and sky, and the birds following their flight paths past the deck and in and around the gardens. We always try to get out into a hammock or chair on the deck at this time. Portable Cot available on request for the youngsters. Our things are an eclectic mix of items we have gathered along the way, we like it this way and intentionally do not have new and shiny items everywhere. The glasses don't match but that's OK, they still hold water. Each mug has a story, you can imagine what they might be if you like. Everything is in good condition and works just fine and we're happy sharing that lived-in feeling with guests, that's what makes our place a home and not a hotel room. Guest AccessAll items within the house are available for respectful use during guests' visit. Linen and bath towels are provided, and included in price. (BYO beach towels). Feel free to walk around and enjoy the native garden. There is uncovered free driveway parking next to the house. Interaction with GuestsGuests have exclusive access to the entire house during their stay. We are available via phone should it be required. The NeighborhoodPenneshaw is a quiet and quaint little town, perfect to escape the hustle of the city. The beach has an unique view of the mainland and is perhaps the best swimming beach on the island, and is less than five minutes by foot. The supermarket is open daily between 8am and 8pm, which is a welcome change to most rural towns of this size throughout Australia. Getting AroundParking for two cars available at the house, not under cover. It is possible to walk to our house from the ferry, although one wouldn't see much of the island without a car. Easy walk into town to get groceries or visit a cafe. Kangaroo Island is a lot bigger than most people realise and it takes some time to drive to the major attractions (from almost wherever one stays). Other Things to NoteReduced rates available for stays of 4 nights or longer, message before booking! The house sleeps 6 however the solar hot water is designed for a small family with water conservation in mind. 4 guests should have enough hot water daily, however 5 or 6 may have to pay attention to consumption. If you are staying in winter, it's advised you know how to start a fire or be prepared to spend some time working on it. It's worth it, the combustion stove is very effective once going and a comforting kind of heat.

About Kangaroo Island The Geography Kangaroo Island is Australia's third-largest island after Tasmania and Melville Island. It is 112 kilometres (70 miles) southwest of Adelaide at the entrance of the Gulf of St Vincent. At its closest point to the mainland, it is 13 kilometres (8 miles) offshore from Cape Jervis, on the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula in the state of South Australia. The island is 150 km (93 miles) long and between 900 m (980 yards) and 57 km (35 miles) wide, its area covering 4,405 km2 (1,701 sq miles). Its coastline is 540 kilometres (340 miles) long and highest altitude is 307 m (1,010 feet). It is separated from Yorke Peninsula to the northwest by Investigator Strait and from Cape Jervis to the northeast by Backstairs Passage. Island Beach Island Beach is located in the Dudley Peninsula, on the north east coast of the island. The nearest seaside village is Penneshaw, where the Sealink Ferries arrive from the mainland. From Island Beach, you have the pure viewing pleasure of the Eastern Cove, from American River to Rock Point. Kangaroo Island Kangaroo Island is a pristine wilderness - a place that has offered protection to substantial populations of native Australian animals, a place of beauty and a place of escape. Kangaroo Island (or 'KI' as the locals call it) is also big and surprisingly diverse. If you traverse its 155km length you'll find soaring cliffs, dense forest, towering sand dunes, wetlands and massive arcs of bone white beach. But just because it's wild, don't underestimate the welcome... Some 4,400 folk live here, most of them primary producers, many of them descended from Islanders who have farmed the land and fished the seas for generations. Naturally enough, being surrounded by fertile lands and rich waters, Kangaroo Island produces some of Australia's finest gourmet foods. Gastronomic adventurers should get ready to be amazed by the likes of freshly caught King George Whiting, sheep's cheese, marron, a unique variety of honey and an exciting range of varietal wines. As if this isn't enough on your plate, you'll also find rich histories, a thriving arts community, and a range of accommodation options ranging from outdoor swags to lighthouse keeper's cottages to super-chic retreats. So we'd like to extend a wild and very warm welcome to Kangaroo Island - Australia's premier wildlife destination.
