The SpaceWe had such fun fixing up your cozy, colorful room that we almost decided to move into it ourselves! The bedroom area has comfortable chairs ready for a quiet evening reading, watching a video, or just listening to the night sounds in this peaceful wooded area. You will have your own bathroom/shower, outside entrance, full bed, laundry, books galore to browse through, fridge, coffee maker, and on the walls maps of the area that will entice you to get out and explore.
Your private room is just the tip of the iceberg. After a restful night you'll be in the perfect location to head out for a hike on the numerous trails both long and short this peninsula has to offer. Or maybe you enjoy antique browsing and want to spend a day searching out the perfect find. Do you thirst to be on the Atlantic Ocean exploring the many islands Maine has to offer? There are nearby kayak rentals, charter boat tours and plenty of places for just walking along the rocky shore. Or would you like to enjoy a play with superb actors from the New Surry Theater in Blue Hill, or a unique experience at the Stonington Opera House in Stonington? MERI-- Maine's Environmental Research Institute--in Blue Hill will inform you of Maine's ocean environment. Is searching out scrumptious local foods more to your taste? The Blue Hill Peninsula is home to numerous organic gardeners and farmers who share their bounty with local restaurants and almost any day of the week you can find a Farmer's Market. You could easily spend a week sampling mouth watering meals at different establishments. Is it the weekend? Then by all means head to the Breakfast Shed in Brooksville for a unique mouthwatering breakfast from a different highlighted country each week. Music your delight? World renowned, Kneisel Hall, in Blue Hill hosts concerts throughout the summer, or dance to Flash in the Pans, our steel drum band, as they play in different venues throughout the area. Marvel over the Arts at the world famous Haystack Mountain School of Crafts as you head to Stonington for a lobster dinner.
And of course we could spend hours talking about all that Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (an easy 40 miles away) has to offer -- lakes, mountains, hiking, swimming, stunning views, gardens, shopping, biking, restaurants to numerous to mention here--but we will be glad to share our favorites, and just the enjoyment and satisfaction of being in one of our nation's best National Parks. We'll be happy to direct you to places that will bring enjoyment and wonderful memories.
We are located 8 miles from the village of Blue Hill, 26 miles to the tip of the peninsula, Stonington -- the quintessential lobstering village, 35 miles to Bangor, 40 miles to Bar Harbor, 50 miles to Camden, 100 miles to Moosehead Lake/Greenville area. Guest AccessGuests will have a parking space, private entrance to their room, bathroom w/shower (the bathroom is around the corner from the bedroom and separated by a waist high wall), laundry, chairs outside to relax in, and peace and quiet.
