The SpaceLocated in a quiet, beachfront neighbourhood the cabin is nestled in the dunes on a large lot with a wide open sky. The cabin has one bedroom with double bed and an open bedroom with twin beds. Large kitchen and eating area, good size bathroom with shower and a front living area /sun room with a lovely view. It is casual, airy and comfortable and has many doors to the large wrap around deck.
The cottage was originally a one room road side barbershop that we picked up in the area. We had planned to make it a basic camping cabin, but life got a little more complicated and we renovated and add on to make a useable family friendly little cottage. Kitchen is equipped with basics. There is no oven, (we prefer to BBQ) there are two single burner cook tops, a toaster oven, full fridge, coffee maker, slow cooker and blender. Guest AccessNeighbourhood private beach access only a short walk away. Small Parking area near the path if you do not wish to walk. Only one car permitted there if there is a spot available.
The cabin is not equipped with handicap access. There are steps and sections of low un-railed deck.
Please advise me if you plan to receive guests or are bringing a dog. Interaction with GuestsI will be in contact with guests by phone as I may or may not be around. You will likely have neighbours dropping by to say hello. They are all good friends and familly. The NeighborhoodGreat location if you want to do some bird watching, relaxing or Kite Surfing. The water is warm most days, and the beach combing is excellent. We love the sound of the Fog Horn on overcast days, and the rumble of the fishing boats in the morning heading out for the days catch. Listen to the sound of the crickets, while enjoying the beautiful, star-filled sky.
(URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundNo public transit, but it is the perfect destination for cycling. The Island is remote, and has no real centre, so all supplies and gas should be obtained in the nearby town of Lameque (approx. 30 minutes away). Most residents speak french and a little english. Other Things to NoteWater: Since we are only a few feet above sea level, and are located in the sand dunes, the water is not potable due to a high mineral count. Spring water jugs are provided for drinking and cooking. White and light laundry should not go in the washer.
Also, this is New Brunswick, so there are moustiques. We find that they mostly come out at dusk for about an hour. However, wet or humid days with no wind can be a little different. I always leave a few bottles of repellent and Afterbite, should you need it.
Stop at the information centre just after the bridge to find out what is going on in the area. The lighthouse has live performances (en francais) most nights and tickets can be purchases at the centre or call (phone number hidden)
