The SpaceQuiet, newly renovated one bedroom cottage set on two open acres to roam is the perfect place to unwind. Surrounded on three sides by woods and on the other by our neighbor with a barn, you can get back to basics reading, writing, or going for long walks on quiet country roads. Located on a dirt road that sees about fifteen cars a day, our adorable cedar-sided cottage is our home away from home that's perfect for an individual, a couple, a couple with small children (crib and changing table already set up), or a couple of couples looking to get away from it all. Though seemingly removed, it's conveniently located 15 minutes from restaurants, shops, and nightlife in Hudson and just 25 minutes from Great Barrington. Best of all is you are zero minutes from lounging in an Adironack chair under the shade of our large catalpa tree. Choose to sit and relax by the seasonal brook that runs the length of the back edge of our property or read and doze in our hammock resting between two spruce trees. The fire ring has seen lots of guitars and roasted marshmallows. If you must motivate and do something active, swimming, hiking and skiing in the winter are just minutes away. You can completely unplug with our wireless fidelity views of trees and flowers, LCD double-paned flat-screen picture windows, and analog woodstove for entertainment. Cell service is available for phone calls and Internet but not enough to always be on your phone :) We have an outdoor shower, ping pong table, dart board, frisbee and all the sporting equipment for your enjoyment. If you choose not to grill on the front patio, you can cook in our tiny but full kitchen. Hawthorne Valley Farm store is ten minutes to our north, and there are seasonal farm stands even closer. Skiing and snowshoeing in the winter are either right out the front door or if you choose to downhill ski, Catamount is less than 15 minutes away.

The NeighborhoodLocated near the hamlet of Harlemville in the town of Hillsdale NY , the house is situated among many farms and grazing fields. Walking down our long winding driving, and just across the road, our wonderful organic farmer neighbor sets up a farm stand with delicious vegetables and fresh eggs (a wonderful resource for last minute cooking). Down the road, you can pickup grass fed steaks, ribs or even sausage, all straight from the farmer. Farm to table at its best. Dinner is planned... Voila! Best of all, the house is literally a 3 minute drive or 10 minute bike ride to the Hawthorne Valley School and Country Store. The store is a great resource ( search online: "nytimes hawthorne valley" for article with color about about the "country version of a New York bodega"). The school has activities and day camp for kids (and farm classes for adults!). Their wonderful country store has a huge variety of organic provisions and prepared food. If you like peaceful countryside but prefer to go out of the house to grab your coffee, croissant and paper on the weekends, this is meant for you. The SpaceOur home has been described as "airy", "magical + modern" and having a "cabin-like feel" :) As you enter and pass through the warming room, a fireplace is there to greet you when you walk in the door. Put on a record or pull out a book and read on the couch. Or take a nap, it is a very magical couch for napping. A spacious kitchen provides plenty of room for cooking, and the downstairs bedroom has plenty of privacy. The entire house is full of skylights, so you'll get plenty of light in all seasons. Upstairs is an incredibly spacious, lofted "studio" full of windows. A desk looks out over the Mill should you choose to get some work done, or head up the stairs to the loft bedroom. There's a full (but compact) bathroom on this floor, and out the back there's a deck that looks over a beautiful, shaded yard with a bench swing for you and a tire swing for the kids (or you). The downstairs bathroom is plenty roomy, and the water pressure here is amazing. There is a washer and dryer, along with a driveway for one car. One of the beds listed is in the very private and breezy tiny guest barn in the back yard. It's a private little escape that overlooks the lake, if anyone in your party wants to glamp it. It has power, a fan, and a space heater in the colder months. There is a full bed in the loft, but be aware that the ceiling is low. Also, there is no bathroom, so guests in the shed will need to return to the main house for that. In season, feel free to pick anything that's ripe from the garden. If you decide to go to the lake, take the fishing pole and see if you can catch one of the reservoir's many fish. Or let us know ahead of time and you can take the two-person kayak for a paddle. Guest AccessLaundry, food, all utensils, garden, closets, washer and dryer, kayak, fishing pole, iron, plenty of blankets and pillows and towels and fresh linens - soap and shampoo in the bathroom, nearly everything the home has to offer (save for the tools, bikes, and camping gear, which we're a bit particular about :). There is parking for two cars. Extra parking is available on Main Street, 2 blocks away. Interaction with GuestsThe house is all yours, as we only rent it when we're away traveling. We'll be available online and by phone, and for check in we leave the keys to the house in a secure location with clear instructions so you can check-in late or early as needed. The NeighborhoodThe property sits across from an old, historic mill, with its back to a lake and the sounds of a waterfall right next door. It's just down the block from Main Street's restaurants (check out Local 111) and farmer's market, so groceries and food are easy to come by without the need to hop in the car. Just five minutes away and a ten minute hike in, is High Falls Park - it's an easy hike to a gorgeous waterfall - you can swim there in the summer but any time's a good time to go. Should you choose to do so, it's twenty minutes to Hudson or Chatham, and forty to Great Barrington, Millerton, Rhinebeck, or Albany. We know both our neighbors, as well as many folks in this small community, and are certain you'll find them friendly and respectful. If there's a fair bit of snow, it's really magical to go visit OMI - you can cross-country ski or take the sleds and go sledding in their sculpture gardens. If you prefer downhill skiing, Catamount is the closest - 25 minutes away. Olana can be a great place to take in a view of the Catskills and the Hudson River (the house is also really beautiful). The waterfalls around here are pretty magical - High Falls is just at the base of the hill, worth the short hike, and should be pretty raging right about now. Or take a ride to Bash Bish. There are a ton of historic movie theaters in the area if you feel like staying indoors (try the Catskill and Chatham ones for both popular and independent movies). For breakfast spots, we recommend Crossroads in Hillsdale or Ben Gables in Chatham. Delicious, comfy, feels like home! Or go just down the road to Hawthorne Valley, the Waldorf School / Biodynamic Farm / Grocery Store and grab a fresh Cinnamon Bun and some coffee in the morning. They're addictive. For local restaurants, Local111 is a favorite, though our preference is Philmont Pub, and the Vanderbilt House is pretty cozy as well. Hudson (17 min away) has tons of restaurants too. Art and shows: Try Basilica in Hudson. Getting AroundEasy 5 min walk down two blocks into Main street, and right near the Taconic for travel up or down state. Hudson is 15 minutes away (if you drive or take the $15 cab ride) should you choose to take Amtrak to or from the city, and the nearest Metro North is 40 minutes (Wassaic). Other Things to NoteThis is our home, we rent it out only when we are traveling. As such, it differs from some AirBnB listings which are only used as guest houses. All of our things are in the house, so expect to find clothes in the closets, food in the refrigerator, etc. We hire a cleaner to prep the house before guest arrivals, which covers 2 hours of cleaning (hence cleaning fee). However because it's our home (vs a hotel), if you prefer white-glove-test level of cleaning this may not be the right spot for you. If however you love getting to stay in a lovely, tidy, normal-clean cozy home, this will be perfect :) Also may be helpful to know, we don't have: Toaster, television, microwave. Please note that one of the beds listed is a sofa bed, two are firm futon-type mattresses, and one is a regular new mattress All are lovely for sleeping :)

If you’d like further advice, just ask. We know the area well and are happy to provide you with recommendations. Getting AroundWe are an easy 2-hour drive from NYC's Upper West Side. Amtrak offers service from NYC's Penn Station to Hudson. Metro-North's Wassaic station (commuter train from Grand Central Station and 125th Street) is 45 minutes away, and the Albany Airport is approximately 1 hour away. The SpaceThe photo is one found during remodeling. Taken circa 1930. The house was built in 1905, and was previously owned by a Jewish couple who were Holocaust survivors. When they died, there were no heirs, so the house was left to the neighbor who had been helpful to them over the years. It sat vacant for years. They gardened extensively, so I am slowly bringing it back to its original spirit. Guest AccessRelax in the beautiful parlor or on the wrap around porch. Enjoy the swing overlooking the creek. Interaction with GuestsI am home most of the time although I live in a separate area of the house, except for my bedroom which is upstairs off the same hallway as the guest bedroom. I enjoy my privacy and assume my guests do as well. The NeighborhoodI am across from a field, in a rural area, backing up to a creek. My block is a row of Victorian homes. A few minutes from several wonderful restaurants, a pub, 2 neighborhood grocery stores, an organic farm store, Waldorf school. Getting AroundNo public transportation although I am available for assisting. Other Things to NoteWithin minutes of Hudson and other areas in the Hudson Valley, including Amtrak. My mailing address/gps address is listed as Hudson. However, I am 8 miles away, in the community of Philmont/Claverack/Mellenville. The map shows the location very accurately. A short commute to Great Barrington MA as well.

The SpaceThe house was built in 2008 by a well known, fine home builder in the Berkshire/Catskill region. It's style is that of a fine, loft like stylish lodge. There is sprawling land around the home in all directions and the perfect space for someone looking for a country getaway. Guest AccessGuests will have access to all parts and land belonging to the property. The NeighborhoodThe Berkshires were voted the best place in America to spend the holidays. There are many wonderful shops and restaurants nearby. The small village of Philmont is a 5 drive away with the wonderful Local 111 restaurant there. 15 min away is downtown Hudson, NY which has many wonderful restaurants and offers some great antique shops. Among some of my favorite restaurants are Hudson Fish & Game and Daba. My favorite home shop is Rural Residence. We are near several ski mountains with the closest, Catamount, being 10 min away. There's a farm across the street and homes are spread out so you have privacy. Getting AroundThere is an Amtrak train station in Hudson, NY which is about 15 min away from the property. The trains run from major cities in the Northeast to that Amtrak station. Other Things to NotePlease note this is a no smoking, no pet property. There is a television in the library loft area but there is no cable as it's meant to be used to watch films. We have a large collection of films and a dvd player is set up for easy use.

The SpaceThis 3 level lake house, originally built in 1939, is situated on 1/2 acre right on the lake side of a stunning lake, next to a historical mill and dam in Philmont. The village of Philmont is only 15 minutes drive from Hudson, other historic towns, and Catamount Ski & Adventure park. The property, while just off a very quiet little road (Lake Drive), has a couple of neighbors close by, but is positioned behind a line of trees, facing the lake, so it feels completely secluded, while still having access to the village down the street. The house has uninterrupted view across the lake. The interior is designed to feel relaxing, with neutral colors, and a mix of modern and antique mid century furniture. The first floor is the main living area (open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area), which leads out onto a deck, with BBQ and outdoor furniture, all lakeside. The second floor is a more intimate living area with TV, couch and lounge chairs. A picture frame window overlooks the lake. Also, on this level is 2 comfortable bedrooms (one queen, one full) and a recently renovated bathroom with large walk-in shower. Walk up to the third level, and you'll find the third bedroom, again, overlooking the lake. There's plenty of privacy, a walk-in closet, and the second bathroom (note, this bathroom has a bath tub only). The house has a Sonos music system throughout. Outside, guests can take the canoe or kayak out on the lake. There is plenty of privacy and grassy areas to relax. There's also a fire pit, and fishing rock. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire property (with the exception of the Garage). Interaction with GuestsI'll be available for help and assistance by phone or email. The NeighborhoodPhilmont is a cute village, just 15 minutes outside Hudson, and 10 minutes from the Taconic State Parkway. There's a couple of great restaurants, a farmers market and food truck (in summer). The property is minutes away from High Falls (a spectacular waterfall and easy wooded trail). There's also a picnic and fishing area, just 2 minutes walk along the lake edge. Getting AroundIt's best to have a car, as the nearest supermarkets, liquor stores etc are about 15 minutes drive. It's about 2-2.5 hours drive from NYC. The house is 10 minutes drive from the Taconic State Parkway, or about 15 minutes from City. You can also get the Amtrak to Hudson and take a local taxi. Other Things to NoteThere's plenty of parking on the property... 2-3 cars immediately outside the house and in front of the garage, and room for more just off summit street near the dam.
