The SpaceWe have a joyful, colorful private room waiting for you upstairs in the eclectic work-in-progress we call home. This sunny room features a comfortable full-size bed with plenty of pillows, beautiful linens and a scrumptious down duvet. There are also extra-large bath towels, plenty of closet and drawer space and room darkening shades if you like to sleep-in. In the warmer months we put an A/C in the window for your comfort. The recently renovated full-bathroom is shared and adjacent to your room. There is an additional half-bath on the first floor. If your situation calls for it, we have a portable crib available. We look forward to sharing our home with you! -Jeanette & Erica Guest AccessWhen you arrive, you will receive your own key so you can come and go at your leisure. While you are here, please make yourself comfortable—feel free to relax in the living room, store food in the refrigerator, or even wash a load of laundry if needed. In short, we want you to feel at-home in our home. Interaction with GuestsWe have the inside scoop! Do you want to know the hikes with the best views? Do you want to know the best restaurants with delicious, local food for which the Berkshires have become famous? Do you want to know where to go and what to do on a rainy day? Just ask! Also, if you know when you’ll be rising, we would love to provide you with a lite, locally sourced breakfast or, if you would like more flexibility (or you just prefer to venture out) we can turn you on to some great breakfast spots—whatever works for you. The NeighborhoodOur house is easy to find and located on a quiet, dead-end street within walking distance to downtown Pittsfield. There you will find Berkshire Museum, The Colonial Theater, Barrington Stage Company, and The Beacon Cinema as well many restaurants and eateries. Because of our central location, we are just a short drive to just about anywhere you’d want to go in the Berkshires—Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, MASS MoCA, Kripalu Yoga Center, Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Jiminy Peak, as well as many bucolic hiking spots from easy to challenging. Other Things to NoteWe have a 4-year-old son who is quite lovely and generally quiet. We also have a very friendly, small dog named Bella. She is a “hypoallergenic” cockapoo and if you don’t want her curling up in bed with you, you better close your door.

The SpaceDogs will love this space, and so will you. Victorian details in the wood-work, window bench, and other styling create a feeling different than any other type of building. The furnishings are simple and comfortable, an eclectic mix of styles. There is room enough for up to three couples. There are also two large AKC dog beds so your furry friends will feel at home. Cook away in the full kitchen, and the lavatory features a homey bath/shower. The art is personal, diverse, and family-friendly. The bookshelves lean a little left. Guests will have off-street parking for one vehicle, plenty of room in the entry foyer for skis or bikes, free use of the back yard and porch, and private use of the second floor. Foyer, yard, porches, and driveway are shared with the first-floor occupants. The attic is off-limits. I am available if there are any questions, and otherwise try to provide guests with an independent, private experience. I may be on premises at any reasonable time, but will not enter the apartment while booked without an invitation from the guests. The neighborhood is central and convenient to all Berkshire destinations. Walk a few blocks north to the Colonial Theater, Berkshire Museum, or historic Patrick's Pub. The Colonial Theater offers music and stage theater, the Berkshire Museum offers exhibits and film, and Patrick's Pub in Park Square is a local favorite. A little further up the road Beacon Theater offers new release films, and Barrington Stage Company offers a variety of theatrical performances throughout much of the year. The area boasts a variety of top rated restaurants on Trip Advisor and Yelp, such as On a Roll Cafe for lunch or dinner, a personal family favorite: There are plenty of choices nearby with sushi, Italian, farm-to-table, pubs, mexican, Thai food, Ben and Jerry's, and more in the immediate vicinity. It's a nice walk downtown in the warmer months, or park conveniently downtown any time of year. Walk several blocks west to discover Fred Garner Park (Pomeroy River Park) featuring a soccer field, trails, and a boat launch on the Housatonic River - canoes, kayaks, and other small watercraft; catch and release fishing. If you are feeling religious, there are numerous Churches and Synagogues within walking distance, there is no Mosque however there is a Muslim community in Berkshire see the following webpage: (URL HIDDEN) Guidos Fresh Marketplace, our local version of Whole Foods, is several minutes drive away for fresh local foods including a juice bar, soup bar, organic produce, prepared foods, and plenty of quality choices no matter what your diet. Ski or snowboard 5 minutes away at Bousquet, or explore several other local sloped destinations including Jiminy Peak. Pontussuc and Onota Lake are a short drive away with scenic views and water activities throughout the year. There are also plenty of cross country ski trails all within minutes, including Kennedy Park in Lenox - also great for mountain biking. If you need gear, you can stop at the Arcadian Shop, located at one of the trail heads, or stop there for a bite at their cafe after your hike. Lenox with many historic sights and cultural attractions, including Shakespeare & Co. and Tanglewood, is 10 minutes away from your rental, and as you pass by, be sure to stop at Chocolate Springs Cafe in the Lenox Country Shops, for some of the best home-made chocolate in New England. A little further, 30 minutes drive south to Gt. Barrington, and 45 minutes north to Williamstown puts every major cultural, natural, and historical destination - every theater, sanctuary, and museum in Berkshire County - in quick reach. There is limited public transportation in Berkshire County, but this location is right at a bus-stop if guests want to patronize the BRTA. There are also taxi companies in Pittsfield. I wouldn't want to try to enjoy the Berkshires without a vehicle however, especially if time was limited. If you bring your dog, you should bring pet gear - food/water dish, toys, etc. Guest AccessGuests will have full private use of the 2 bedroom second-floor apartment and shared access of the foyer, front porch, rear deck, and yard. Interaction with GuestsI prefer to let my guests enjoy their stay in privacy and contact me as required. The NeighborhoodThe location is great, you can walk up the street to Ben and Jerry's for some ice cream, and then go to the Colonial Theater to catch a show. There are beautiful old buildings throughout the downtown area. There is plentiful parking downtown if you'd rather not walk, and a nice assortment of top rated restaurants you can find reviewed on Yelp and Trip Advisor. The Berkshire Museum is right down the street, and offers a film series in the summer. Colonial Theater and Beacon Cinema offer quality mainstream fare. Everything you need for a fun urban stay in the Berkshires is right there and nature is a quick drive away, as is Pontussuc or Onota Lake, Pittsfield State Park's hiking trails, numerous cultural activities in Lenox, Great Barrington, and on and on... Getting AroundYes, there is bus service (BRTA). Private parking for one car is included. The train station is one mile away in the heart of downtown. Taxi service available. Enterprise Car Rental is downtown. Other Things to NoteSpecial offers for Bookings of 3 weeks or more, submit request for special pricing. Thanks!

The SpaceFive minutes from Berkshire Medical Center, two renowned Pittfield theatre companies, galleries, Berkshire Museum, restaurants, cinema center. Ten minutes from Bousquet Ski slopes. Kripalu Yoga Center is in the adjoining town of Lenox. Williams College, MCLA, Mass MoCA, The Clark are 40minutes north. Beautiful Onota Lake is a few minutes' drive up the road, or a nice mile-long walk. I am happy to share my home with you. Watch tv or a movie in the colorful, comfy living room; relax on my large deck, prepare a meal or snacks in the handsome new kitchen. (My dog and I sleep in the family room/art studio/apartment downstairs, well out of your way. Except July and August, I am mostly at home, making my Novel Idea Book Purses and other altered book art, digging in the dirt during the warm months, or playing in the yard with my dog Throttle. For 7 weeks of the summer, I lead Road Scholar tour groups Monday - Friday, and am not home as much. I always enjoy hosting you, and am honored to enhance your experience of my beloved Berkshires in whatever ways I can. My cute little brick cape sits in a tidy neighborhood, surrounded by friendly and helpful neighbors. It's a popular walking and biking area, especially to nearby Onota Lake. There is a convenience store just a few blocks away. The BRTA county bus stops within a block of the house. The Peter Pan bus terminal and Amtrak train station is a little over a mile from the house, and whenever possible, I will pick you up and take you back to it. Pittsfield has decent taxi service. There is parking in the driveway for one car, and street parking for more than that. My house is an easy one-hour drive from the Albany Airport, 1.5 hours from Bradley Airport. I and another artist friend are often at work in the studio in the basement family room. Neither of us are painters, so there are no fumes. Kathy will be happy to answer your questions if I am not around. Just give a shout. Throttle, my mixed breed rescue dog, is an energetic 9 year old, with a lot of Jack Russell in him (hence the fun name!). He loves people, does a good job of sounding like a guard dog when people come to the door, but is totally friendly. Guest AccessYou may relax or watch tv in my living room, eat and prepare food in my kitchen, and in season, sit on my deck. Interaction with GuestsI will usually be present for check-in, and depending on the time of year, around much of the time, except in July and August, when I work. I try to foster your privacy by sleeping and spending a lot of time in the basement family room/bedroom/art studio. I am careful to sense how much or how little a guest wants to interact with me. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is quiet and friendly and safe. It is near to downtown and within walking distance of Onota Lake. Getting AroundThe local bus service, Berkshire Regional Transit Authority, BRTA, has pick-ups on corner of Woodbine and Onota as well as corner of Acorn and Lakeway. (URL HIDDEN) (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). It has very limited service at night and on weekends. If you are coming without a car, I strongly recommend you consider renting one in order to attend cultural venues at night and on weekends. I may also be able to provide contact information for a private driver. The Peter Pan bus terminal and Amtrak train station is a little over a mile from the house. Whenever possible, I will be happy to pick you up there and return you there when your visit is done. Pittsfield also has taxi service. (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (Arrow). (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (Rainbow). The SpaceMy Pittsfield home is centrally located, easy to find, well-appointed, and in a quiet, safe neighborhood. My guests comment on what a nice, well-decorated, and comfortable home it is. I love my home, I love my Berkshires, and I enjoy hosting visitors to both. Beautiful Lake Onota, with a beach and walking path, is within walking distance. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to share the living room/tv room, modern kitchen, dining room, and deck. I sleep and spend a lot of time in the basement family room/art studio/apartment. Interaction with GuestsI am semi-retired, at home much of the time, except in the summer. July and August, I lead Road Scholar tour groups who have come to experience the culture and beauty of the Berkshires, so am away from home much of the weekdays and evenings. I am very familiar with restaurants, bike paths, trails, museums, and entertainment venues, so will happily serve as your "concierge." A light breakfast of muffins, toast, coffee, tea, juice, and milk will be provided. You may share my kitchen any time you wish. The NeighborhoodI know all my neighbors, and trust that they will be both friendly and helpful. There are two families with little boys, a grocer, a physical therapist, a hospital IT worker, a teacher. My yard is large enough to play frisbee or toss a ball. There is parking in the driveway for one car, and safe street parking for more than that. Other Things to NoteI am a mixed media, altered book artist, with a studio in the basement. I am not a painter, so there are no fumes. A friend regularly uses my studio area to make colorful infinity scarves (that Scarf), and she will answer your questions if I am not home -- just give us a shout . All bedrooms have ceiling fans and lots of windows for cross-breeze and comfortable sleeping. There will be an air conditioner when temperatures dictate. You can use my twin air mattress as well, no charge. The bathroom that guests use is on the first floor. It has a new tub and shower, with two grab bars.
