The goal is a small, but elegant, carbon foot-print. It's a shoes-off home, so please bring house slippers.
We are a block from Canoe Meadows Audubon Bird Sanctuary and two blocks from Brattle Brook Park and a mini-aviation field for peaceful walking or running.
Cape Serenity has TWO guest rooms, both on the second floor, with a full bath off the hallway between. The Twin-Peeks room has two twin beds. Both rooms may be reserved at a discount, go to host profile, scroll down to ALL listings and select "2 Bedroom Suite".
There is a/c, TV, cable, DVD Player, WiFi, Lots of closet and drawer space, sitting area. Work table / Desk available for business travelers or students. Please request a week ahead of your arrival if possible.
Large room with yoga matt and space to exercise or feel free to use the deck. Guest AccessGuests have access to kitchen, dining room, yard and deck, in addition to your room. An ironing board and iron is available upon request. Blow drier, shampoo, conditioner, soap, linens, sheets supplied by host. There is a laundromat and dry cleaner nearby.
Small fridge & cabinet space in kitchen. Tea & fruit available all day. Breakfast food available in morning includes cereal or granola, toast, PB&J, milk, yogurt, butter. Food allergies understood and considered. Please let host know your needs prior to arrival. The kitchen is available to make tea or a snack. Please feel free to use host dinner ware and linens. There is a designated GUEST toaster and a microwave. (Host has serious food allergies. Please follow instructions to avoid cross contamination of her food preparation area! Please do clean up after yourself and put your dishes in the dishwasher.
The host's private area includes first floor bath, bedroom, and study on first floor, basement and garage. Do not enter these areas. Interaction with GuestsHost is on premises most days to answer questions or make suggestions regarding activities, directions, etc.... Host carries a cell phone and can be reached by Air BnB text message or telephone when away from the house. The NeighborhoodThere are several fabulous lakes within 10 minutes of here for summer swimming. There are many hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail. Hike or ski Pittsfield State Forest, Rent a kayak at Onota Lake or a jet ski at Pontoosuck Lake, or take a quiet swim in Berry Pond or Lake Macheenac.

Downhill skiing at Bousquet, Ski Butternut, Catamount, Jiminy Peak. Cross country ski as close as 2 blocks from house when conditions allow. Great Backcountry ski or bike trails at Kennedy Park, Lenox, Pittsfield, State Forest, Canoe Meadows, Notchview Reservation in Windsor has snow when there is no snow in Lenox.

Pittsfield has many events throughout the year, such as birding at Canoe Meadows, First Friday Arts Walk, LIVE AT THE LAKE concerts, Word By Word Festival (last 2 weeks of August) Berkshire International Film Festival.... not to mention great antiquing, tag sales, and estate sales/auctions.
There are many dance studios, gyms, yoga studios in the area. Your host is a yoga teacher and dancer and knows where all the ballroom, contradance, mostly-waltz dances and great yoga classes are located.
Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (Hillsdale NY, First Weekend Aug), Guiding Star Grange (Greenfield-the epicenter of contradance in the northeast), Lenox Contradance (third Sat) Many other opportunities for dancing and live music in the area. Tanglewood is the largest music venue in the area, featuring concerts with name pop and jazz artists, the Boston Symphony, Tanglewood Music Center symphony, and many other large and small ensembles. Getting AroundWe are located on bus route #12 & #14 which runs from Elm Street to the Intermodal Center and many shopping destinations in Pittsfield. At the Intermodal Center, you can connect to other Berkshire Rapid Transit Routes, as well as a Peter Pan Bus to/from NYC and Boston, or Amtrak Train to Rensselaer or Albany, NY. Enterprise rental cars, Rainbow Taxi Service, provides local service and Tobi's Limousine provides transport to local airports in Albany, NY (50 minutes) or Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks, CT (1 hour 15 minutes). (See Host's GUIDE.) The Metro North Commuter Train runs to Wassaic, NY (1 hour 15 minute car ride) where there is a long term parking lot and affordable train to NYC for easy return trips. The Metro North Line also runs to Hudson, NY, a new and up-coming small city with bustling a cultural scene. Other Things to NoteCape Serenity is not handicap-accessible. There are stairs into the house, to the second floor rooms, and there are no grab bars in the bathroom. doors are not wide enough to accommodate a wheel chair.
