Guest AccessShared spaces include a recently remodeled marble-tiled bathroom with glass-walled shower/soaking tub and radiant floor heat; cathedral-ceilinged living room with fireplace and piano; comfortable TV den with leather seating and Netflix; and a traditional dining room with a view of the courtyard and bird feeders. During the summer months, guests are welcome to enjoy the shady front courtyard, with flowers and a gurgling fountain, or relax on the sunny, private backyard deck. Interaction with GuestsI live on the premises and work from a private home office, so will be around most of the time. You will be the only guests staying in the house. I respect your peace and privacy, but I'm happy to respond to requests and get to know my guests. As my Airbnb Superhost status attests, I excel at making my guests feel comfortable and welcomed.
There are also two friendly indoor cats, Eddie and Buster, who will be pleased to give you their attention. The NeighborhoodBrighton was the first true suburb of Rochester, developed in the 1920s when the automobile began to make living outside of the city limits more feasible. The area has many beautiful homes from the period in classic Cape Cod, Colonial, or Tudor Revival style.
The Twelve Corners area at the center of Brighton, formed by the intersection of three major roads, is surrounded by small shops and eateries. The upscale suburb of Pittsford, including the flagship Wegmans supermarket (a true tourist destination) and scenic Schoen Place on the Erie Canal, is just a few miles to the east.
Brighton is a great walking town, and I feel safe walking anywhere in my general neighborhood at any hour. There are coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, and specialty shops within easy walking distance.
There are a number of interesting parks nearby, and the Edgewood Lock on the Erie Canal is two miles away. The canal has a great paved path for walking, running, or biking.
The city of Rochester has many cultural attractions -- music, theater, dance, museums -- plus great restaurants and a whole line-up of festivals during the summer, including the spectacular Lilac Festival during early May and the International Jazz Festival in late June. Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes are great for boating and wine tours. So much to do here! Just ask -- I'll be happy to provide suggestions. Getting AroundThere is free private off-street parking for your car behind the house, and easy access to I-590 and I-390. Brighton is conveniently located about 10-15 minutes from almost anywhere in the greater Rochester area, including University of Rochester, Strong Hospital, RIT, MCC, St. John Fisher College, Nazareth College, Oak Hill Country Club, and the Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC).
Rochester's public transportation is doable but not great. If you don't have a car, there is a stop for the #47 Monroe bus line two blocks away. Other Things to NoteTwo guests maximum, no exceptions.
Be aware that two indoor-only cats live in the house.
Please let me know of any allergies or food preferences, and I will try to accommodate.
