The SpaceThis space is the original house built in the 1820's by Remembrance Hitchcock. It has two bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and bath. Original door thumb latches, wide board floors and hand-planed boards are all features of the home. Our adjoining section of the house was added later by Joseph Peabody in the 1850s and became his woolen goods workshop and store. Sheep are still on the property today. Guest AccessPittsford is in the lower part of the Champlain Valley. It is 35 minutes from the Killington and Pico ski areas and about the same distance to Middlelbury College. Pittsford has its own recreation area and a system of trails for hiking. Nearby Rutland has a super year round farmer's market. Our spot is a perfect base for day trips anywhere in central Vermont. We are on a main road, Rt 7, with year-round access. You are free to use the back yard and the picnic tables by the back door. Interaction with GuestsWe live right next door and would be happy to answer questions, give directions to our 4 covered bridges or if we have time show you around the farm. In the late spring we have new born lambs. You can watch us use our border collies for work. While you're with us we would be happy to provide fresh eggs daily. You can also visit our camera store, Vermont Camera Works, at the other end of the house. If you like old cameras you'll like our store. However, If you just want a quiet private stay we are happy to oblige. The NeighborhoodPittsford is a nice community in between historic Brandon and Rutland. We have a great recreation area with a trail system and a swimming area with a lifeguard during the summer. We have a pass that allows you to use the facility. We are especially known for our 4 covered bridges. Getting AroundWe have ample on site parking for vehicles. There is no mass transit in this area. Other Things to NoteAs with many old houses, the stairs (13 steps) in this house are steep and narrow and take some getting used to. There is a hand rail. The rooster likes to wake early. He doesn't disturb us, but you might notice him. Pittsford water is rated one of the best in the state. It is a real treat.

Our home is a historic Methodist church built in 1837 which we converted into the most beautiful home you can imagine! With 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths and the biggest great room/living room filled with 8 huge stained glass windows, the original organ and alter area and even the working bell this is an entertainers dream, or could be shared by two families at the same time. Rent for the season (Dec 1-May 31st at a steep discount for the entire time) and create the most memorable winter yet! Or, rent by the week or month. There are too many amenities to list with two brand new bathrooms with heated marble floors, one with a cast iron slipper tub and slate shower and the other with a huge walk in shower. The master bedroom has a queen Tempurpedic bed, a chaise lounge, a beautiful antique drop leaf desk and a walk-in closet. It also has the attached master bathroom. The laundry room with new stacking front load washer dryer are also accessed from the master bath. The gray room has a king sized brand new memory foam bed, a walk in closet and a seating area. The bunk room has 4 twin beds in 2 bunk beds. These are sturdy bunks that can accommodate adults or children. There is also an extra 3/4 double bed upstairs on the alter which is not in a separate bedroom (though there are doors that close off this whole floor) but is a gorgeous space right next to the organ, a palladian window with mountain views and the light pouring through the 8 historic stained glass windows . The formal living room area is also up here in the church - along with lots of open space - enough to dance or have a large group do yoga. There is another large living space with a TV downstairs, as well as the dining room (there is another dining area in the eat-in kitchen). There is a huge 350 sq ft kitchen with everything you need - huge french door fridge with bottom freezer and ice maker, gas stove, dishwasher, a massive amount of counter space with marble counters. Everything you need to cook a big meal - plentiful pots and pans and a number of smaller appliances: microwave, toaster, coffee maker, Cuisinart, blender, popcorn popper, ice cream maker, coffee grinder, etc. All kinds of serving plates as well if you're hosting Thanksgiving! Our vacation home has such a huge amount of space and is all done to the 9's with nice linens, unexpected luxuries, beautiful colors and artistic details. Just a mile up the road is the best restaurant in the entire area - Harvest Moon - people come from far away to eat this delicious Italian food made by a Sicilian family who ended up in Pittsford, VT. After you try their food you may want to eat there every night (make reservations), but also try some of the other area favorites - in Brandon there is an excellent French restaurant, and Rutland has a plethora of offerings as well. Killington Ski Resort is obviously the main draw for activities, also Pico Mountain if you like, also in Killington. We are 15 miles from Killington. Ski all day and have the most fabulous gathering at night! Fall is also gorgeous with the foliage and summer for hiking in Green Mountain National Forest, antiquing, swimming and farm to table cuisine. We are also about an hour from both Woodstock and Burlington and half an hour to Middlebury, so you could do day trips to those or other VT towns. Come enjoy paradise!

Rent for the season (Dec 1-May 31st at a steep discount for the entire time-contact us about seasonal rentals) and create the most memorable winter yet! The gray room has a king sized brand new memory foam bed, a walk in closet, a large dresser and a seating area. The bunk room has 4 twin beds in 2 bunk beds. These are sturdy bunks that can accommodate adults or children. There is also an extra 3/4 double bed upstairs on the alter which is not in a separate bedroom (though there are doors that close off this whole floor) but is a gorgeous space right next to the organ. It has a Palladian window with mountain views and light pouring through the 8 historic stained glass windows. The formal living room area is also up here in the church - along with lots of open space - enough to dance or have a large group do yoga. There is another large living space with a TV downstairs, as well as the dining room (there is another dining area in the eat-in kitchen). There is a huge 350 sq ft kitchen with everything you need - huge french door fridge with bottom freezer and ice maker, gas stove, dishwasher, and a massive amount of counter space with marble counters. Everything you need to cook a big meal - plentiful pots and pans and a number of smaller appliances: microwave, toaster, coffee maker, Cuisinart, blender, popcorn popper, ice cream maker, coffee grinder, etc. All kinds of serving plates, dishes and glasses as well. There is also a large dining/living room downstairs with a large dining table, a seating area with card table and a TV area with cable TV and HBO. Wireless is throughout the place. We are 15 miles from the town of Killington.
