We highly recommend you arrange to have at least one prepared meal on arrival. Most of the year we can provide all the bananas you can eat for guests and coffee if you help process and roast it. Or If you like, bring your own food and use our community kitchen. A great place to enjoy a peaceful farm life, nature, read or write a book, do some farm work or just relax. NOTE: If our calendar here says we're booked it's because airbnb only lets us list one room so we likely still might have space. Send us an inquiry here and let us know you're interested in visiting and we'll let you know if we still have space and create another listing so you can still book here. Interaction with GuestsAlso note that the price you pay here on airbnb is for your room and stay. You would pay for this after your stay is confirmed with airbnb and before your arrival once we confirm a date. If you stay a week or more, chances are we will have time in between our normal chores and work schedule to answer most of your questions Other Things to NotePlease Note: You must be confirmed and paid 3 days before your arrival so we can prepare on our side. In some cases we can do same day arrivals but normally a 3 day notice is necessary. The SpaceThe Domes is an unusual house, made of 3 conjoined circular EarthBag domes shaped like giant beehives. Why stay somewhere square? Go round for a change! The house features 2 private bedrooms, each in its own dome, that connect to the center dome which is the main living room. The King's Dome dome has a king-size latex mattress in a bamboo canopy bed. The Queen's Dome has a queen-size bed. There are also sleeping lofts above both bedrooms, accessed by ladders, that would be super fun for older children or agile people. Also on the main floor is the kitchen and bathroom (fully screened in) with bananas and papayas growing right outside! The kitchen has a full-size fridge with large freezer, and a 4-burner gas stovetop (no oven). The bathroom has a hot shower and wonderful tile work of local stones and slate. The upstairs level is reached by a beautiful hardwood spiral staircase. There is an indoor loft room that can be used as an office or sleeping space (high speed Internet included). Outside is a covered deck with stunning views of the vertical Tinamastes ridge beside us, and all the way down the valley towards the ocean. An amazing place for yoga, meditation, hanging in a hammock, and enjoying spectacular sunsets. In rainy season you will often see waterfalls pouring down the face of the ridge! The Earthbag construction keeps the interiors fresh and cool in summer, like natural air conditioning! And when it's cool outside at night, it's warming inside. The bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom and upstairs loft all have doors and window screens. Need something smaller? Check out the Howler Monkey Cabin at https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3089682 Guest AccessThe Domes is located at the upper edge of Fuente Verde, our 60-acre community-owned organic farm, which provides a safe and tranquil environment. It is the perfect place for people who want a more natural rural experience, away from the noise and commotion of the beach towns. You are free to explore the farm and hike the trails into the protected primary rainforest that begins only a few hundred yards from your door. Listen to howler monkeys serenading the sunrises and sunsets! Take the family for a dip in our swimming hole and enjoy hiking up the river. Our farm has water from its own springs and abundant fruit trees. If you would like to stay on our farm, but don't need a space as large as the Domes, we have a smaller cabin to rent as well. You can see the listing here: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3089682 There is excellent bird watching on the farm: our gardens, fruit trees, ponds and rivers provide ample food and shelter for many of the 860 bird species that live in or pass through Costa Rica. Our Fuente Verde bird count is close to 200 species! Best times for bird watching are from December to April, when the North American migrant species come to feed and breed here. Interaction with GuestsI also live on the farm, just a few minutes walk from The Domes, so am available to greet you and get you settled in. I can provide info on the area and answer questions as the need arises. The NeighborhoodThe Domes is perfectly located in the magical Diamante Valley, halfway between the bustling surf town of Dominical on the southern Pacific Coast, and the city of San Isidro de El General, gateway to Chirripo Mountain. So within a short drive you have access to endless beaches and world class surf, or Costa Rica's highest mountain. There are an incredible number of things to do in the area: local tour companies offer zip-lining, whitewater kayaking, surf lessons, mangrove tours, whale-watching, waterfall hikes & rappelling, plus more! There are simple grocery stores and restaurants in the nearby village of Tinamastes, and Tuesdays there is an organic market as well, featuring locally grown organic fruits & veggies, tasty prepared food, arts & crafts, and delicacies like water buffalo cheese! Every Thursday and Friday there is a huge Farmer's Market in San Isidro, 1/2 hour away by car. Each rental of 7 days or more includes a free Welcome basket of local fruit and organic coffee! Getting AroundGetting here and away To best take advantage of your vacation time we strongly recommend renting a car. To access the farm a 4 wheel drive vehicle is required. If you don't plan to leave the farm often you can take a taxi here (about $30 from Dominical or San Isidro) and then hire taxis or a rental car for day trips. There is no public transportation directly to the farm. The nearest daily bus routes and shops are 2 km away. The walk from the farm to the bus or shops is mostly uphill on a rough dirt road that will be either dusty or muddy depending on the season. Other Things to NoteThere is a solar laundry drying room on the upper deck and a large covered parking area adjoining the back side of The Domes.

The SpacePrivate, cozy jungle home in the mountains with own trails through the jungle with Juan, as your guide, or by yourself, if you so choose. Guest AccessThis home is located in a very central area. Food shopping nearby in several directions. Fruit stands/minimarkets within walking distance, excellent hiking within the property, ATMs within short driving distance, 45 min. drive to Manuel Antonio and its National Park, 15 min to the Pacific Coast for swimming and surfing, the Dominical Infor. Center also 15 min away will guide you to and address all of your interests, many restaurants in all directions and last but not least, with all of this accessibility, you still have your private spot. Miriam, the manager and her husband, Juan, are there to assist you and are within a short distance on our private road but not visible from your house. When you first enter our private road their house is the first house on the left. You go further up the dirt road and you will walk through an open gate and your house is yellow and on the right. Interaction with GuestsI will not be there when you arrive. Miriam will be there to greet you, if it is not too late. The day that you are expected to arrive, the doors will be left unlocked and the patio lights will be left on for you, if after dark. The NeighborhoodWhat I love about this area is summarized in "guest access." What is also accessible to you, but not mentioned in that section, is the ability to see wildlife. But, you never know when. I have only seen capuchin monkeys travel through and no viewing of howler monkeys. The day before yesterday, Juan called and said "come right now!" He was 5 min. down the road. There was a band of howlers in a group of trees for the last 2 days. It was incredibly exciting. A few of those photos are included in this listing. We have seen sloths here, but as I said, you never know when. Juan told me the other day that he was walking along our path at night and saw an armadillo. I have experienced that as well, but on the road. This is a gorgeous place. You have the mountains, which are green all year around, and the ocean. What could be better. Getting AroundPublic buses operate on the road parallel to the property. Car rentals in San Jose, Quepos, Dominical, and Uvita; taxis and walking to nearby places like the waterfalls, and further, depending on what shape one is in.

The SpaceEnjoy tropical trees, plants and flowers and watching toucans, parrots, falcons, and butterflies that visit the grounds in the early morning and afternoons from hammocks and cozy chairs. Every morning the howler monkeys can be heard welcoming the day. The 1100 ft elevation ensures a more comfortable temperature, even when it's steamy at the beach. The house is not air conditioned, but ceiling fans and the house’s location allows for comfortable air movement. The mostly-shaded deck offers a perfect place for relaxing, drinking Costa Rican coffee, reading books, and watching the jungle. The dining area consists of an oversized table overlooking the deck and green jungle beyond. The kitchen has granite countertops, an island, as well as a small table and sitting area. Hikes can leave directly from the house. One steep trail leads down the back hillside to a small creek. Another goes down to the headwaters of the Baru River for a dip or to hike to amazing waterfalls in either direction, upstream or down.as well as the most photographed waterfall in Costa Rica, Nauyaca Falls. Other activities include hiking, surfing, kayaking, rafting, horseback riding, snorkeling, scuba diving, zip lining, going to the market, bird and wildlife watching, going to the market, as well as relaxing and soaking up the simple life. Sleeping Accommodations The home sleeps six people comfortably. Two bedrooms are equipped with full sized beds and the third bedroom has two twin beds. We have two single mattresses that can be placed on the floor either in an extra room (or, by special arrangement, in the yurt). The adjacent, romantic yurt also has an awesome deck overlooking the jungle and a full size bed. Two bathrooms are located on either side of the house with hot water. There is also an sublime outdoor shower. Children are welcome, but the house may be unsuitable for families with small toddlers or children who would climb on the deck railing. Cooking Accommodations Make use of the fully-equipped indoor kitchen by cooking up stir fries and fresh fish catch bought in Dominical. Our caretaker is available to prepare fresh vegetarian lunch or dinners to order in advance. Produce is largely organic and purchased locally at the farmers' market in San Isidro, where we buy free-range eggs, goat milk/cheese and kefir, organic brown rice, and fresh corn tortillas. Internet available thru the pretty good local 3G phone network, and we try to maintain WiFi in the main house. **Please look under the tab "House Rules" for additional information about visiting the area. Getting AroundStrongly recommend renting a car. During non rainy months, 2WD will suffice, but 4 WD will allow much more flexibility to explore less traveled beaches and swimming holes. Other Things to NoteIn 2014 we completed a separate open studio with facilities for extra sleeping and kitchen. It is mostly for owner use. If you don't plan to explore much you can take a taxi here, hang out on the farm, and hire taxis or a rental car only for day trips. There is no public transportation directly to the farm. The nearest daily bus routes stop almost 2 km away.

Many people coming to Dominical think that the best rental would be on the beach. Fact is that it is hot and the mosquito and sand fleas are abundant, no breeze and the smell of the diesel trucks will surely wake you up in the morning. Up in the mountain there is a nice breeze, bugs are at a minimum and it will be the howler monkeys that wake you up in the morning. CASA DE CINEMA. Nevermind the 0 reviews on tripadvidor/flipkey because we're new to this site, we have 40 different 5 star reviews on airb&b.; There is a sloth (email: hidden)s on the property and can sometimes be seen from the balcony, other times you might need to search for it. Other than the sloth, we're also visited regularly by toucans, aracaris, anteaters, coatis, monkeys, hummingbirds, iguanas, etc etc. House of Jupiter is a beautiful spacious home in the jungle covered mountains above Dominical. We pride ourselves on being eco friendly and carbon neutral. We are solar powered, very energy efficient, receive our water from a nearby spring and the majority of the furniture was made from locally and sustainably havested bamboo. The house has a very fresh and open feel with 14 foot cathedral ceilings covered in bamboo and large windows everywhere with lots of new screens to keep the bugs out and let in the breeze off of the pacific ocean. We're located at a perfect 1000 feet elevation and in pure jungle so the temperatures are much cooler (in the shade) than if at sea level so there is no need for airconditioning, although we do have airconditioning in the downstairs. But go out in the sun by the pool and it's plenty hot for swimming. You're free to use the A/C but in 3 years it's been used 2 times. But every room does have a high output ceiling fan and a oscillating pedestal fan for the days it gets warm. It sleeps 13 comfortably but we will allow 15. 6 bedrooms with a total of 8 beds, all have memory foam. The main bathroom has a giant concrete bathtub and shower that has a jungle view and sometimes you can see toucans, a sloth, or monkeys while bathing. 2nd bathroom has a large walk in shower and jungle view also. 2 fully furnished kitchens and dining areas. Giant terrace/balcony that is a great place to relax or do yoga (yoga matts included) with lots of seating and 2 oversized hammocks. A sitting area. Living room with 50" tv, satellite tv, blueray player and the ever important WIFI. The house sits on 6 acres which is a combination of jungle and bananas and fruit trees. The closest neighbor is seperated by several acres of jungle and you cannot see them or hear them. We also have an organic vegetable garden, pineapples, avacados, coffee, and many types of fruit for you to enjoy when they're in season. Includes: 6 bedrooms with linens, 2 Fully furnished kitchens, (dishes, coffee, fridge, stove, pans, cooking oil and spices, microwave, blender, toaster, etc etc), 2 full bathrooms with towels, 2 half baths, giant terrace, infrared barbecue grill, pool and patio, many types of fruit grown on the property. Interaction with guests: I can arrange rental cars, tours/activities, surf lessons, etc and do not need a credit card. If you need anything, I am more than happy to help with any planning. There are several beautiful well known waterfalls in the area but I also know of several that are still secret and private to the rest of the world. I can set up surf lessons or tours. Suggest best places to go. If you don't want to drive I can arrange a shuttle to the house. The neighborhood: A private community up in the jungle covered mountains near Dominical with incredible mountain and ocean views. At over 1000 ft elevation so the temperatures are more comfortable and fresh feeling than the beach. Just a short drive from 2 different beaches. One, a famous touristy surfing beach and the other a completely natural deserted beach where you can walk for miles sometimes and not see people. Our little piece of paradise is surrounded by national forest preserve so we are visited by many animals. You will feel like you are a million miles from the rest of the world but the beach town of Dominical and many activities are only a 12 to 15 minute drive away. Getting around: I am more that willing to meet our guest in Dominical and give them a ride (free of charge) to the house or if you're in a car you can follow me to the house. If you don't want to drive I can arrange a shuttle to the house. Then you can rent a car just for the days you are in the area or I can take you places. Just ask me about it and we can agree on a price in advance. As with most places in Costa Rica that aren't on a paved highway, 4x4 is highly suggested mainly because of the ground clearance but it isn't absolutely necessary during the dry season. Front wheel drive car can manage just fine but I would not recommend a rear wheel drive car because of the lack of traction on the hills. Rainy season I only suggest 4x4's because rental companies use poor quality tires that are not all-terrain. The town of Dominical and the little pueblo of Baru at the entrance to our community has bus stops and a regular and dependable bus system that can take you all over costa rica for a couple dollars. Taxis are also availabe to and from the house.
