The SpaceThis Mid-Century Modern home with 265ft of direct access to Lake Champlain is located among the cedars, on a lovely dead end road. The space is warm and inviting, true to its form as a relaxing family retreat, weekend getaway, or home away from home for the business traveler.
The 'Great Room' centers around a grand working stone fireplace, opens into the dining-kitchen area and out onto the screen porch and deck. The kitchen features a 6 burner dual-fuel stove, Ikea cabinetry, and a convenient, ample cooking space for an individual or a full family.
In the colder months, our home sleeps four comfortably (one king bed and one queen bed). All bedrooms open up to beautiful sunrises and views of Mt. Mansfield in VT. We also offer a pull out couch and ample room for air mattresses (often better suited for children and/or college kids) for bigger families. In the summer months, a separate cabin on the property makes a cozy and unique sleeping option for four additional people (twin bunk beds and a double bed). Our 1.5 acre lot accommodates tents and campers well to allow for larger family gatherings.
Guest AccessOur vacation home will be your own while you are enjoying your stay. You are welcome to eat, drink, read, and otherwise use everything you find.
Beach access allows for wonderful bonfires, swimming, and small craft boating (kayaks, canoes, sunfish, windsurfing). In the summer, you should plan to bring your own recreational equipment should you wish to use some (i.e. kayaks, paddle boards, etc.). There is a great shop nearby that will deliver kayaks, paddle boards, etc. to our house and pick them up after your stay. Their website is (website hidden) and their phone number is (phone number hidden). We highly recommend them! Swimming is great…there is a rocky bottom…water shoes are not necessary but definitely help! Interaction with GuestsAs Rich works just fifteen minutes away, in Plattsburgh, we will leave the house open for you and be a moment away should you need anything. For overnight guests, we will be happy to provide a light breakfast if desired (please let us know that). In that case, Rich will be stopping by to ensure that you are comfortable, happy, and well fed! All linens are provided.
For weekly rentals, we will provide you with a keyless access code or plan to meet you at check-in so to welcome you and to ensure that you are well oriented to the property and set to enjoy a relaxing stay.
Please note that we do ask you to sign a rental agreement (our insurance requires it). We would be happy to send you our agreement if you message us! The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and dog friendly, with a wonderful walking loop. Taking a cup of coffee down to the ferry dock to watch the boats come and go is a favorite pastime (although you can also see them from the porch!). As the Lighthouse Road community has multiple vacation homes as well as fulltime residents, our guests will experience privacy as they relax with the knowledge that helpful neighbors are close by should an emergency arise. Getting AroundOur home is within walking distance from the VT ferry, and is minutes away from I87. Direct flights from Boston to Plattsburgh make for easy access from out of the area. For weekly rentals, we can arrange for airport pick up should that be necessary. Should you wish to leave the property, a car will be necessary. All shopping amenities are within an easy 10-12 minute drive. We are approximately 15 minutes from Plattsburgh's CVPH Medical Center. Our home's central location offers convenient access to interesting day trips as Montreal and Lake Placid are only an hour away. Other Things to Note(website hidden)
