The SpaceSenderos de Paz – Paths of Peace, is a 7.5 acre oasis, 55 yards above sea level and just 150 yards from the beautiful beach of Playa Manzanillo and a nice walk or quick drive to the breathtaking beach of Playa Hermosa. Located just 10 - 15 minutes north of Santa Teresa, you'll find all the peace and tranquility you need, but close enough to jump in a car or 4-wheeler and have access to anything and everything one could want. Bungalows Guayacan are set around a huge, endangered hardwood tree named the Guayacan. The Guayacan sits around the pool towards the ocean side of the property. There are three bungalows, two fitted with queen beds and the third with bunk beds. Each has a full kitchen, small refrigerator, gas stove, coffee maker and all the kitchenware you'll need. The bungalows are built in a simple one room studio style with the kitchen and bedroom on opposite sides of the floor plan and a separate bathroom area with the patios placed for pool, monkey, bird, and ocean viewing. The bungalows were completed in June 2012 with laurel wood ceilings and paneling and the patios, door and window frames all accented in teak. All bungalows and villas come completely furnished, fully equipped, and are surrounded by lush gardens, gravel walkways, private parking, pressurized hot/cold water, SKY/cable TV, wireless internet, cleaning service, gardener and laundry facilities and/or service needed. I purchased the land in 2001 and began gardening, planting and reforesting in 2004. The property has transformed from vines and brush for cows into walking trails and gardens with over 30 different type of native trees within half an acre (2000 meters) of the bungalows. Take time to walk along the trails of our 7 acre property...look for coatis, anteaters, jaguarundis, white face and howler monkeys, various bird species, and iguanas...or find one of our sitting areas and just watch and listen to the ocean. We are here to help with any questions or needs, so sit back, relax, and enjoy your stay with us... Also, in Manzanillo there are 2 mini-supermarkets, 2 typical restaurants, a fantastic seafood restaurant and an excellent pizzeria. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is very peaceful with private homes and rental homes spread out in what really is the countryside. It is a stark contrast to the high level of activity just south in Santa Teresa. Some neighbors still pass by on horseback, and it is common to see cows beings herded down the main road to a hand dug well on the beach for water and grazing. The property is located up over the ocean - 55 meters - so you can hear the waves crashing on the reef below. There are no buildings between the ocean and the property. There is a road in front of the property that takes you down to Manzanillo Beach (250 meters) which you can walk or drive. You can go south for less than 5 minutes and arrive at Hermosa Beach. One of the great things about the beaches here are you can head down Manzanillo Beach all the way to the Bongo River (about 7 km) and somedays rarely see a footprint on the beach. Below the property on the old road, there is a small, picturesque waterfall that is fed by our springs in the rainy season that flows under the beach road and onto the beach. Along the same road, there are a series of beautiful tide pools where you can find plenty of privacy almost any day of the year. I love to fish and surf, and there is plenty of that here...just ask! Getting AroundOne can arrive to the Nicoya Peninsula by direct bus out of San Jose, by renting a car and taking the ferry over from Puntarenas to Paquera, or by Sansa Air or Nature air flying into Tambor. A car can be rented out of Tambor at Budget Car Rental. Also, we can offer to pick you up by taxi in Tambor and brought directly to the property as well as stopping in Cobano for groceries for $50. ATV's....We have negotiated very good prices with various rental agencies for ATV rentals. This is a great option for getting around and lots of fun. Just ask. We have private and secure parking for our guests. Finally, many guests ask if a car or ATV is necessary. It depends on the traveler. Some people love to walk and enjoy their time here walking everywhere and seeing everything at a slower pace. I am always impressed by this. But in general, I recommend some type of vehicle during your stay so you can really get to know everything the peninsula has to offer, but it is not necessary as we have taxis that provide great service to our guests and can take you anywhere you wish to go.

The SpaceVilla Cocobolo is located within Senderos de Paz – Paths of Peace, a 7.5 acre oasis, 55 yards above sea level and just 150 yards from the beautiful beach of Playa Manzanillo and a nice walk or quick drive to the breathtaking beach of Playa Hermosa. I purchased the land in 2001 and began gardening, planting and reforesting in 2004. The property has transformed from vines and brush for cows into walking trails and gardens with over 30 different type of native trees within half an acre (2000 meters) around the villas. I built my home, Villa Pochote, in 2007 and shortly added Villa Cocobolo in 2008 for guest and associates. At Villa Cocobolo you will find the peace and tranquility that you are looking for in your trip to Costa Rica. It is surrounded by the rare Costa Rican Cocobolo hardwood tree as well as the renowned Pochote. The house is built in the loft style with second floor windows offering ocean, sunset, and mountain views. The bathroom and the bedroom are both located upstairs, and the bedroom’s sliding glass doors open to a private balcony allowing ocean views, and monkey and bird watching from the comfort of your bed. The kitchen and entertaining areas are downstairs and have three patios, two of which are accessed by sliding glass doors for more ocean viewing and garden access. Villa Cocobolo can accommodate 2 adults with children or possibly 3 adults. Built and designed by the owner in August of 2008 the home has vaulted ceilings of Pochote beams with laurel wood paneling and the verandas, patios, stairs, door and window frames are all accented in teak. Villa Cocobolo has a fully equipped kitchen, comes completely furnished, and is surrounded by lush gardens, white gravel walkways, wrought iron gates for added privacy and private parking, pressurized hot/cold water, SKY/cable TV, wireless satellite internet, cleaning service, gardener and laundry facilities and/or service if needed. Take time to walk along the trails of our 7 acre property...look for coatis, anteaters, jaguarundis, white face and howler monkeys, various bird species, and iguanas...or find one of our sitting areas and just watch and listen to the ocean. Our staff can help with any questions or needs, so sit back, relax, and enjoy your stay with us... THE BEACHES.... Because of rock reefs surrounding the entrance to Playa Manzanillo, this beach has it all. Here you can surf, snorkel, swim, kayak, fish, beach comb, and at the end of the day enjoy one of the most spectacular sunsets the Nicoya Peninsula has to offer. The best part about Manzanillo beach is many days the only footprints you will find will be your own. A few years ago Playa Hermosa was basically unknown, but recently discovered by surfers tired of the crowds and congestion of Santa Teresa, this beach is becoming increasingly more popular for tourists and surfers. Playa Hermosa lives up to its name and is truly beautiful offering great waves for surfers, swimming and beachcombing on a long and wide un-crowded beach. To truly capitalize on all the peninsula has to offer, a car or 4 wheeler is a must, but still many of our guests prefer to walk the old beach road to Playa Hermosa enjoying the quiet and slow pace - stopping at the tide pools, private beaches, the waterfall, and always returning with stories of seeing more monkeys and iguanas than people. THE SURF.... Yes, there is surf. A short drive south are the more popular surf spots of Playa Carmen (Mal Pais) and Santa Teresa, but just a few minutes away in Manzanillo and Playa Hermosa you can find waves for all levels of surfing (reef, point breaks, beach breaks, river mouths) – beginner to advanced – with crowd and attitude free, consistent surf. For any surf questions feel free to contact the owner who has over 25 years surfing experience. We can also set-up surf lessons with qualified instructors. THE FISHING.... Manzanillo and north to the Bongo River is an area famous for fishing. You can go local and try your hand at hand-line fishing or bring your own gear and head out to the reefs at low tide. You may get lucky and hook sea bass, snook, red snapper, or a rooster. A quick run north will get you to The Bongo which is legendary for its fishing due to its river mouth - a great place to catch snook, just ask a local family who bought a car they call “robalo” meaning “snook” in Spanish. All the money they earned to buy the car came from selling their snook/robalo catches from the Bongo. We can also book fishing tours for you – just ask. The SpaceSpacious, open with all its windows, & very well equipped, Full Moon is a 3 minute walk to the beach, which is located at the north end of Santa Teresa, on the Playa Hermosa Beach access. It was custom built in 2010 as our get-away - now we find we are not there as often as we would like, so we will share our home with you! Full Moon is perfect for 4 adults or a small family of 5. Each bedroom with a queen bed (and one also has a single bed), has its own garden bathroom. Complete comforts of home, but is not your home - it is your Latin American getaway! Comfortably furnished, totally air-conditioned, the kitchen is fully equipped - refrigerator, range/oven, microwave , etc., and a safe for your valuables. I love our huge teak deck to snooze, read or watch for parrots, hummingbirds, iguanas, etc. No alarms necessary! The howler monkeys visit, sometimes twice a day! They troop along the treetops and graze on leaves and flowers of the trees on the property. We are around a 5-10 minute drive south, into the town of Santa Teresa. Malpais is 5 minutes further south from Santa Teresa. We are 5 minutes to Manzanillo, which is to our north. The beautiful beach is about 800 feet away and only a 3 minute walk. Guest AccessIt is all yours! Your own house & huge deck! Interaction with GuestsWill is in Costa Rica often - Denise not as much :-( If we are not there, our friend and manager Noelia is there along with Kristi. They are wonderful resources and arrangers for things to do and see, should you need assistance. The NeighborhoodWe are located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica (rich coast). It is almost the southern most point of the Nicoya Peninsula. A relatively undeveloped area, rugged roads, NO high rises, hibiscus lined properties, fantastic restaurants (walk to Koji's), four star spa at Spa Bambu of Florblanca 1 mile south. Experience top quality yoga with Stefano at Flor BLanca, or walk to Pranamar for Yoga with Nancy Goodfellow. And of course - world class surfing just steps from the house! Tide pools are close, bring your snorkels and funky water shoes - kids love these pools! Surf, or learn to surf for the first time private or group lessons. Bring in a professional for private sessions (or go visit) First class Yoga instructions, Pilates instructions, Spa Treatments, Chef Services. Take Horse tours on an Ecofarm, do a quick zip line, rent a quad and go exploring, charter a boat and fish for your dinner, visit waterfall and 'world's largest strangler fig' in Cabuya. Our piece of Costa Rica is pretty laid back. Getting AroundTake either Sansa Air or Nature Air to Tambor Airport & collect your pre-arranged car rental. We are about 1.5 hours from Tambor. We are around 5 - 7 miles north of Frank's Place & Carmen's both at the intersection dividing Mal Pais & Santa Teresa, just north of the Hermosa Valley School & south of Manzanillo. Roads are rough, not what you are accustom to, but you should not need a 4x4 . We can send more details should you book. Other Things to NoteWe also have Half Moon, of Nueva Luna Villas. Half Moon is a 1 Bedroom House, sleeps 3, which will be on Airbnb in the near future. Also, we currently have under construction Little Moon or Crescent Moon (we haven't committed to the name yet), which is a lofted studio. Our plans for the future of Nueva Luna will include a pool.

The SpaceWelcome to Mal país, Costa Rica. This house is a perfect white gem in the green green jungle. It is a fully equipped apartment with a small bedroom and a large twin bed couch. Hence it can accommodate up to 4 adults or a small family. It is modern and unique. Designed to function with comfort and flow. It is a short walk, less than 10 minutes from the best surf break in Santa Teresa. The apartment is attached to another house. Here you will find the owner and hostess of the Casa Zwart-Wit. Margriet also owns Cafe Zwart, a local eatery and art gallery where she is the resident painter and creator of art. The house is the perfect distance from the chaotic nature of the Santa Teresa Dirt road. An oasis that is perfectly secluded yet in the heart of Santa Teresa. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Come enjoy.

The SpaceThomas, the host, built the attractive ecological wood house in 2014 with a great love for details. It is built on stilts mostly of teak wood, with cedar floors and bamboo trimming, in the Costa Rican ‘rustic style.' The house is located 3 - 5 minutes by foot to the nearby beach Playa Hermosa. The two rooms on the bottom floor are accessible from the terrace. A third room with its own terrace is on the upper floor. The stairs to the upper floor are behind the house. All rooms can be closed and locked separately. Two rooms have a double bed and one room has two single beds. A fan and shelves for clothes and luggage are in each room. The area does not have many mosquitoes, however a mosquito net can be used to be on the safe side. Since the rooms have good air circulation, air-conditioning is not necessary. A cold shower is outside, and a warm shower and toilet are in the annex of the house. Guest AccessVery close by foot there is a small supermarket. There is a parking space for one car. More cars can be parked within the area. Interaction with GuestsThomas, the host lives in the house next door and is available at all times for any recommendations or if help is needed. The NeighborhoodCasa Hermosa Surf Lodge lies in a protected area directly next to a small supermarket. In the middle of a small gated community of local houses and cabins. In ca. 3 - 5 minutes by foot one is at the beautiful beach Playa Hermosa of Santa Teresa on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Costa Rica has many good surfing spots, but Santa Teresa is an area with the best beach breaks with constant waves throughout the year. Playa Hermosa in front of the house or any of the many other surf points in Santa Teresa provide beach, point and reef breaks that offer a variety of possibilities to satisfy every surfer. The water temperature is pleasant all year round, and one can easily surf in shorts/bikini. Getting AroundWe recommend to have a car (4x4) that can be rented in San Jose or locally in Santa Teresa. An ATV is the other option. The Santa Teresa area is very spread out and to be able to explore every thing it is optimal to be mobile. The other option is to chill at the house and just enjoy the local beach (3 - 5 minutes by foot). Since there is a small supermarket next to the house one does not need to go to town by taxi more than once a week for bigger shopping. To visit most restaurants you need to be mobile. Taxis can be hired. Other Things to NoteWe advise to rent a car since the Santa Teresa area is very spread out. One option is to rent the car in San Jose and then drive to Santa Teresa. The other option is to rent a car or ATV in Santa Teresa.

The SpaceStaying at Senderos de Paz and in Bungalow 3 is not like a hotel or resort stay even though the property has all the features of the experience except in a completely natural setting. There are walking trails throughout the property along with ocean views from all the homes. There is wildlife everywhere and hardwood and fruit trees throughout the entire property. One of the unique qualities of Senderos de Paz is one can stay in any of our homes or bungalows and not know there are others nearby, but if you do want to have social interaction with other guests it is easy to do. The bungalows are set around a huge, endangered hardwood tree named the Guayacan. The Guayacan sits around the pool towards the ocean side of the property. Bungalow 3 has bunk beds with twin mattresses, a full kitchen, small refrigerator, gas stove, coffee maker and all the kitchenware you'll need. The bungalow comes completely furnished, fully equipped, and is surrounded by lush gardens, gravel walkways, private parking, pressurized hot/cold water, SKY/cable TV, wireless internet, cleaning service, gardener and laundry facilities and/or service needed and, a newly added benefit, just steps from our new yoga space. Guest AccessWhen staying in Bungalow 3, the guest have access to the Bungalow Pool, walking trails, various sitting areas around, the yoga shala when classes are not in session (please take off your shoes), and free Wi-Fi. Interaction with GuestsI am on the property everyday and am always available for anything of our guest's needs. The SpaceThe house is very well situated in the first hill close to the beach so you have a beautiful and close ocean view and also you are close to the beach. You can hear the ocean all day long and in summer you cab watch the sun hide in the sea, in winter time the sun hide behind a hill on the side but it's still a beautiful sunset. It's 15 min from Santa Teresa where you can find supermarkets, fresh fruits and vegetables (Green Market), a lot of different restaurants, ATV rentals, banks, clothes stores and more. The beach in front of the house is Playa Hermosa and it's special for surfing and family reunion because it has a lot of Palm trees and Almendro trees that makes beautiful shadows. In low tide it has a lot of space for Yoga, volleyball, soccer or any other activity. The house has 3 rooms in the first floor. One with 2 bunk beds (1 is single bunk bed and 1 is double bed down and single bed up) and air conditioning. Another with a bunk bed (double bed down and single bed up) and air conditioning. And the third room has a king bed, private bathroom and shower without air conditioning but very fresh. In the second floor is the main bedroom with air conditioning, 2 queen beds, a private bathroom and a shower. There is another room in the second floor with 1 double bed and 2 single beds with air conditioning. A shared bathroom and shower is available also in the second floor. The kitchen has all normal appliances, the dinner room and living room are also in the first floor. One bathroom and two showers and in the first floor. Outside but with roof is the washing machine. The kitchen is gas powered, we take care of the gas and the gas cylinder is outside of the house. In the first floor is a TV with DVD Player and it's the only TV in the house. In the outside there is a small pool for refreshing for adults or play for small kids. It's round and have 12 feet of diameter (4 meters of diameter). It's perfect to relax while watching the sunset or have the kids play. Around the pool there is some beautiful trees that provide shadows all day long and it's an area you can use for camping, talk, relax or simply seat and enjoy the view. The parking is plenty for at least 6 cars. The balcony surround half of the second floor with views to the ocean and to the first floor. In summer time you can access with an sedan thru Santa Teresa and with a 4x4 or 4x2 high car you can access thru Rio Negro. In winter we recommend to access only with a 4x4 and thru Santa Teresa or Manzanillo, because thru Rio Negro you have to pass a small river. Important: The surroundings of the house is very natural with trees and forrest, so you will have the pleasure to see monkeys, birds and other animals but also you may find small insects and animals that are normal of this area, so don't panic. The house water is potable, from a well, but high in alcalines so we prefer not to drink it, but for cooking (boiling), washing dishes, shower and others is ok. For drinking water we will provide it bought in the supermarket in 5 galons recipients and also in the kitchen is a filter pitcher if you want to drink tap water. We recommend to buy ice in the supermarket. A Supermarket is 5 mins away or less. In the property is a small house well separated from the main house, this house is for the maintenance person that also check for the security of the house. He will not disturb in your stay but he will do watering in summer around the house, because in this way we can have green grass and beautiful trees. He will also take care of the pool and any other issue you may need to make a pleasant stay. Interaction with GuestsWe live in San Jose (5 hours from the beach), so we can talk and set everything out but we will not be there at the time of check in. In the property is a maintenance/guard gay that will give the keys and information of the house in Spanish at check in. He will be responsible also for check out.

The SpaceOur home is very peaceful, quiet, private, and romantic. The view is spectacular! Wildlife viewing is incredible, and a daily occurence. Located between Manzanillo and Santa Teresa, on the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica, we are close to beaches (4km), world class surfing spots, and undisturbed nature. Santa Teresa is 10 km south, and the area to the north is Costa Rica's newest Wildlife Rufuge - The Caletas-Ario National Wildlife Refuge - home to nesting sea turtles, an expansive estuary ecosystem, and incredible sunset beach walks. Check out the photos of our place, with new improvements for this season! We have recently built a new terrace, wood fired oven, and child safe hidden porch... There also is an expanded network of private nature trails that lead throughout this functioning flower farm and botanical garden. It is a nature lovers paradise! A great place to come, disconnect, and truly relax! Wildlife viewing is spectacular, and an early morning walk around the farm will be well rewarded. Our beautiful second home is a naturally flowing, round, open air structure that has an attached enclosed bedroom, with sliding windows and screens and it's own porch. The design features an incredible large sweeping view of rugged mountains and coastline, which has been tastefully framed with natural teak wood logs, a vaulted ceiling, and cool tile floors. Here the sounds of distant breaking waves put you to sleep at night, while hummingbirds and incredible views greet you in the morning! The round natural building is referred to as "The Rancho". It is built exclusively from beautiful, local teak wood. The Rancho has an open living space with a comfortable seating area, breezy hammock, a well finished kitchen, a small bathroom, and second open air bedroom. The kitchen has a smoked glass, 3 burner gas stovetop, poured natural curve concrete counter tops, and a two basin stainless steel sink. Within the rancho is an enclosed bathroom, with a modern flush toilet and small hand sink. There is an outdoor shower located around the corner of the tiled sun patio, tucked into a lush tropical garden. There are extensive flowers, abundant birds and wildlife, as well as Mangos, Bananas, Passion Fruit, Breadfruit, Avocados, and Ylang Ylang growing in abundance throughout the property. Private nature trails provide an easy opportunity for wildlife viewing and learning about the local flora and fauna. This place is remote! You will need a 4x4 rental car with good clearance, or a locally available quad (ATV). We can recommend companies to work with. There are solar panels and a battery bank to power 12V lights, radio, and pressurized water. There are a couple of 110v outlets for laptops, and other small items. Local cell service signal is usually very good here. WiFi Internet is via cellular sim card - email us for details. The closest beach "Playa Manzanillo" is 4 km away, and nearly deserted, stretching to the horizon in both directions. The northern reaches of this beach encompass Costa Rica's newest wildlife refuge, The Caletas Ario WIldlife Refuge, home to (among other things) nesting endangered "leatherback" sea turtles. The southern reaches of this beach are a series of tide pools, rocky headlands, and protected coves. Epic sunsets and beach walks are the daily norm here. The strikingly beautiful beach of Playa Hermosa is 8 km. This area is the closest popular surfing beach, and has recently experienced much fame and publicity as one of the world's top beaches, and as home to a handful of supermodels and movie stars. The waves at Hermosa can be friendly and fun, and it is a great spot to learn to surf. Santa Teresa is firmly planted on the tourist map of Costa Rica, with its many restaurants, spas, luxury hotels, yoga centers, and international travel scene (15km). This area can offer absolute world class surf, and is known for fast, powerful, hollow beach break. For adventurous, expert surfers, there are many unknown, un-surfed, un-mapped, un-publicized breaks in the area. Keep it that way. Seriously! The "dry" season is from Dec - May, and you are nearly guaranteed sunny dry conditions in this time. It occasionally rains, but this is quite rare during the dry season. June - Nov is the "green" season, and is the time when there is a mix of rain and sun on the pacific coast, although many sunny days and fabulous weather do exist. From San Jose - 6 hours From Liberia - 4 hours From Tambor - 1 hour Please contact us for more info. *** We can arrange daily cleaning service if wanted, for $25 per cleaning , with advance notice *** Laundry service is available for $15/ average sized load, with advance notice Guests have private access to all of our home and sprawling mountain top property. We encourage everyone to walk around and explore the lush jungle, the fields of flowers, and see the different ocean and mountain views. There are private nature tails throughout the property. Most of our interaction with guest is via email. Our home is blissfully peaceful, quiet, private, and romantic. We only rent our home when we are not staying there, usually we are back in the U.S. or Denmark at the time. There is a caretaker who will be there to give you the keys and show you in. He speaks spanish only. Our "Neighborhood", known to locals as "La Palmita" is a private secluded mountain top that is hidden in the jungle, a close distance to popular tourist areas and world famous beaches. The surrounding area is agricultural land with a mix of jungle, pasture, and roaming cows. The nearest neighbors are pure farmers, living off of the land, producing milk, and cheese, and raising animals. You'll need to rent a 4x4 car with good clearance to enjoy this area. You can also locally rent a "quad" or ATV. We can recommend a company with competitive prices and a reputable service. We'd like to encourage you to get in touch and ask any questions you'd like. Our place can be an amazing perfect vacation for the right people looking for the right experience. Independent, adventurous travelers, who appreciate nature and simple living will absolutely be in love. If your looking for a 5 star resort style place, and a front desk to call when you see some ants or a spider, this likely won't be for you. Guest AccessWe only rent out our home when we are away (usually in the USA or Denmark), so guests have full private access to the house, botanical gardens, and nature trails. Interaction with GuestsWe mostly interact via email, and there is a local caretaker and cleaning staff who will prepare the house for your arrival. We are available to help quickly via email or phone. If a problem were to arise we will remedy the situation by coordinating assistance through our local caretaker. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is pasture, cows, jungle, and a remote mountaintop, with an incredible sweeping view, and a couple local farmers living in the valley below. It is one of the last great untouched parts of the pacific coast. There are many nearby beaches, including The Caletas-Ario wildlife preserve, Playa Hermosa, and Playa Santa Teresa Getting AroundYou need a 4x4 car or locally available ATV. We can recommend a company with competitive prices and a reputable service. Other Things to NoteCheck out the AirBnB guidebook section for things to do. Our check in packet via email also has many suggestions, maps, etc.

All bungalows come completely furnished, fully equipped, and are surrounded by lush gardens, gravel walkways, private parking, pressurized hot/cold water, SKY/cable TV, wireless internet, cleaning service, gardener and laundry facilities and/or service needed. I love to fish and to surf and there is plenty of that here in Manzanillo, just ask! Some people love to walk and enjoy there time here walking everywhere and seeing everything at a slower pace. I am always impressed by this. But in general, I recommend some type of vehicle during your stay so you can really get to know everything the peninsula has to offer, but it is not necessary as we have taxis that provide great service to our guests and can take you anywhere you wish to go.

The SpaceThere are many hidden spots on the Pacific coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. Many have already been discovered and shared with other travellers. Bahia los Almendros, a unique, unspoiled family farm and getaway on the coast north of Mal Pais & Santa teresa, is set apart on a broad expanse of unpopulated beach on a hilltop among trees and garden. The Main house looks due west toward spectacular sunsets and north towards the Ario - Punta Coyote reserve and protected ocean reefs. The house is furnished with antiqued from the colonial period and fabrics collected from all over the world. There is one master bedroom, a dressing room, 1 bathroom and a loft that sleeps four. All rooms open onto the garden and ocean or stream and mountains and herb garden. Horse and Kayak tours, exploration of mangrove forests and hidden estuaries are all offered. Excellent restaurants, yoga and spas are 25 minutes away in Santa Teresa. Guest AccessBeach, Kayaks, horses. Interaction with GuestsWe welcome all our guests. Together, we will create the most incredible, tailor-made vacation. From horse back riding tours, to Surf lessons.

The SpaceThe house is close to the beach and the same time in the jungle. Located on the top of a little hill, it gives a feeling of being km a remote jungle. Guest AccessAccess to lots of nature! Raccons, monkeys and many different kinds of birds visit the house everyday. A guitar is available, binoculars for birdwatching and books. Interaction with GuestsI am often surfing, painting or working around in the garden. You can easy feel like in your own house. Enjoy! The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is pretty quiet, i would say nature lovers and family oriented. Two yoga studios, board rentals, and the best sushi restaurant in all the Peninsula. Getting AroundNo transportation to this side of the península. A taxi from Santa Teresa is about 14$ to 20$. Other Things to NoteI do often preparing dinner or brunch in collaboration with guests. I can also offer massages and body therapy.

The SpacePerched at the top of a steep unpaved driveway,on the edge of a flat plateau, overlooking the sleepy fishing village of Manzanillo de Cobano, this minimalist house was designed and built by the owner in beautiful sustainably-harvested teak. It is completely solar-powered and off the grid. The main room has 3 glass walls of sliding doors, which make for a truly indoor-outdoor living experience, with curtains for privacy. There is a small bathroom with a shower off the main room, and a spacious teak deck overlooking the ocean with chairs for enjoying the view. A spiral staircase leads up to a small sleeping loft, with a comfortable full-sized mattress on a low platform. The open kitchen is on the front patio, and includes a gas stovetop, small fridge, and a table. There is a simple Costa-Rica style washing machine. There is internet by the owners internet connection which can be used There is excellent cell phone reception with the local company MoviStar or Kolbi. The house is safe and tranquil. Because of the distance from the main road "Calle Santiago", there is none of the dust or traffic noise that is a constant presence in most of the area. The property is a perfectly peaceful retreat when you really want to get away from the dusty bustle of Santa Teresa. There is no air conditioning or city-water (but there is collected rain water and a well) phone line, or grid electricity. However, there is an abundance of beauty, peace, privacy, sunshine, and breathtaking views. Guest AccessThere is a garden plateau with an outdoor fireplace and a small kiddie-pool to cool off in. Interaction with GuestsI will be happy when I can help my guests. The NeighborhoodThe house feels worlds away from civilization, but the bustling town of Santa Teresa is a 20 minute drive away on the beautiful unpaved coast road along the beach. You can walk to the beach, but the path can be hot and steep for you, so you may prefer to drive. It is a 10 minute walk through tropical forest to the relaxed Manzanillo Beach, where you will find the only local spot, the Atardacer Dorado restaurant and bar, and a little convenience store stocked with basic essentials. Just down the road is the tiny village of Belo Horizonte, which has another little store and a couple of restaurants with "comida tipica", the standard Costa Rican fare. Particularly lovely for breakfast and lunch is Dayka restaurant, which has a pool and sunny views of the surrounding landscape of the Nicoya Peninsula.  Getting AroundRenting a 4X4 car is highly recommended - essential really. Roads are steep, bumpy and unpaved in this area. If you decide to drive here, you can rent a 4x4 near the airport in Alajuela and San Jose, or upon arriving in Santa Teresa, Cobano, or Tambor. If you decide not to rent a 4x4, there is public transportation available from San Jose to Santa Teresa. Please contact me for more information. You also have the option of renting a quad in Santa Teresa, which I can help with if needed. Other Things to NoteI offer pick up from the airport and transportation to the beach and my house for $ U.S 150 one way.

The SpaceConveniently located only four miles north of town, Playa Hermosa is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Nicoya Peninsula with unforgettable sunsets. Come and experience where the jungle meets the sea and tropical beauty abounds. The house is situated in a highly sought after area, a mere three minutes by car to the beach, nestled in the hills overlooking the jungle and ocean of Playa Hermosa. Guest AccessThe house was completed in 2015 with all modern amenities and decorated with imported Balinese furniture and artifacts from around the world. The ocean facing balcony, raised on stilts, offers amazing jungle views through to the sea below. From here you can enjoy your morning coffee or practice some yoga listening to the sounds of the jungle and the waves rolling in. There are many different birds and monkeys spotted from here. The open plan living design and high beamed ceilings throughout allows for plenty of space and comfort during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped for every need including large fridge/freezer, microwave, oven/grill and four hobs, coffee machine, toaster, kettle and blender. The bedroom has a large built in closet with A/C and ceiling fan. Feel secure with a gated entrance, safe, alarm system and one other house on site where the property owners live permanently. Interaction with GuestsWe value our clients privacy but are always nearby to help with local recommendations and ensure that your stay is a memorable one. The NeighborhoodThere are many activities to enjoy in the local area from surfing, kayaking, yoga, fishing, stand up paddle boarding, swimming, horse riding, nature walks, bird watching, golf, Tortuga island day trips, Montezuma waterfalls and Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve. The restaurants in and around Santa Teresa offer international cuisine at a very high standard. Just minutes by car from Villa Maluku is the famous sushi restaurant Kojis, one of our personal favorites. Getting AroundWe would highly recommend either hiring a 4x4 car or a quad during your stay with us. We can arrange to pick you up from the airport at Tambor for a fee, please enquire if you require this service.

At Villa Cocobolo you will find the peace and tranquility that you are looking for in your trip to Costa Rica. We are a 7 acre oasis just 150 yards from the beautiful beach of Playa Manzanillo and a nice walk or quick drive to the breathtaking beach of Playa Hermosa. Villa Cocobolo is surrounded by the rare Costa Rican Cocobolo hardwood tree as well as the renowned Pochote. Villa Cocobolo is located within a 7.5 acre property named, Senderos de Paz, or Paths of Peace. We are 55 meters above sea level and just 175 meters directly to the mid-tide line. One can walk to the beach from the road that runs in front of the property - it is a 250 meter walk downhill. In only the 1/2 acre surrounding Villa Cocobolo there a are more than 30 different trees (hardwoods and fruit). For this reason, along with the gardens and hundreds of meters of walking trails, our guests can find all sorts of wildlife. Below the property on the old beach road, there is a small waterfall that runs from our spring. On the same road there are also a series of tide pools that run along the road between Hermosa Beach and Manzanillo Beach. On this stretch of beach, you will probably see more animals than people on any given day. Manzanillo Beach (north) is protected by a rock reef, so the waves are smaller, but the beach itself has waves for surfing, spots for fishing and lots of space for relaxing with very few people. After Manzanillo Beach there is a stretch of 4km with less than a handful of homes ending at the Bongo River where one can find an estuary with lots of migrating birds and sometimes the occasional crocodile. To the south is Hermosa Beach which has great waves for beginners to experts and lots of space to relax with friends, couples or family. In the town of Manzanillo (500 meters to 1km), there is a beach restaurant (Bar Restaurant Artadecer Dorado), a nice pizzeria (Manny's), and (Dayka), a restaurant with mountain views, a pool, and very reasonably priced food. In Hermosa, there is an astounding sushi restaurant, Koji's. Nearby in Montezuma, there is a fun hike to the waterfall that is well worth the trip, as well as a fantastic canopy tour. Montezuma also has shopping and lots of beaches (little nooks and crannies) to explore and find some privacy. Santa Teresa, just 10 minutes south, has two banks, shopping, all types of restaurants with food from all around the world, and basically anything and everything you need or don't need.

From San Jose, the journey west to Santa Teresa transports us to the edge of civilization, away from our frenetic everyday lives and drops us immediately into the serenity of nature. This is a vacation home that encourages the most elegant, yet casual and easy living, where inside and outside, pool and beach all merge in the blur of the jungle. In keeping with the vision and design of the architect, the owners have chosen not to install coverings on the windows. This serves to enhance the experience of feeling immersed and at one with nature and to unite inside with out. Everywhere is dense rain forest. A surfing community inhabits clearings cut along a dirt road that parallels perfect Pacific beaches - this is the town. Both secluded and easily accessible, the house is at the end of the town, above the beach and within walking distance of the best dining and health activities in town. The seclusion of the house and the surrounding intact canopy, ensure the inhabitants' total privacy.
Bananas, mangoes, papaya, coconuts, avocados, guavas, and passion fruit all grow throughout the gardens of this paradise. The trees surrounding the house are inhabited by troops of small monkeys, both white-face capuchins and Howlers, some with infants on their backs, who stealthily prance from branch to branch picking berries in the trees surrounding the clearing where they have more sun and fruit. They show only slight interest in the human inhabitants on the ground. A dirt driveway climbs up to the clearing. Through the trees the red screens of the façade appear as a forest of impervious metal pipes. Stairs ascends to the platform of the house. Sunk in the platform is a sensuous, salt-water lap pool of blue water with an infinity edge parallel to the house and ocean. On one end is a small lawn, on the other a shallow shaded sitting pool. In this benign climate only shelter from the seasonal rains is necessary. Otherwise it is the optimal movement of air for cooling and to prevent damp that makes perfect habitable shelter. To facilitate this is a double height ceiling with fans that circulate the air. The rear wall is louvered for cross ventilation. Bedrooms are stacked at one end in two stories, two guestrooms below, and the master above and they are equipped with efficient air conditioning, largely unnecessary because of the rest of the design elements. Bedrooms are stacked at one end in two stories, two guestrooms below, and the master above. The master bedroom upstairs comes with a king bed and private bathroom. The 2 bedrooms downstairs have a queen and 2 single beds, which can be pushed together seamlessly as a king. The rear wall thickens to contain the services – pantry and kitchen, perfectly appointed with modern appliances, storage, stair, and bathrooms behind sliding glass doors.
Finishes are hand hewn and natural. Much of the furniture is masonry including the kitchen cabinets, counter and beds.
Most of the best restaurants in the Peninsula are all within a half-mile from the house. Kojis Japanese Restaurant, the best in town and in the country for sushi; Coleur Café, a French Bistro; Te Parto en 8 which is a low key spot for locals with live music, on Saturdays. They open only at night from Thursday to Saturday. They are mainly Argentinian and Mediterranean Dishes. We also have Rey Patricio, Spanish Tapas. This house is just half a mile from Pranamar Villas and Yoga Retreat, with daily ocean front yoga in a huge teak wood shala with a gourmet healthy restaurant too.
