The SpaceThe new barefoot luxury is refined:We call it "simplicity" ...Ojo del Mar ("eye of the sea"), is a small, eco friendly secluded retreat nestled between the pristine beaches and the tropical rainforest in the wilds of Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula. As National Geographic says, the Osa is the "Last Great Peninsula," still untouched by the ravages of civilization, with over 350 species of birds, 115 species of reptiles, 750 species of trees and 10,000 species of insects...along with the 100,000 acre fantastic Corcovado National Park. This is a gorgeous and remote spot: we cherish the Osa. Waking up to the morning sound of howler monkeys, the squawking of macaws and the orchestral singing of birds and insects against the background rhythm of the (URL HIDDEN) a place to reconnect to the essential. Ojo del Mar has capacious spaces in its main "Casa Grande" (restaurant) with hardwood floors and a thatched roof bamboo construction, solar powered, all built by hand without power tools. Ojo del Mar's building concept follows a calling that is environmentally and socially responsible. We welcome you and all sorts of groups/events to support ourmindful and sustainable commitments in deep connection with nature. We also have great places to relax on the beach, such as our hammocks, ocean-tree platform and Yoga Lounge. During the season (May through December) if you are lucky you can see turtles nesting and baby turtles hatching. During the day when not out on a tour, enjoying the beach, lazing around the natural river pool or practicing yoga, the ‘Casa Grande' offers a variety of ways to while away the hours. During the day folks enjoy the library, socialize with other guests, watch the sights unfold in the open air kitchen, our staff whipping up a fancy dessert or baking bread, play a game of chess or a bit of music, read up on the rainforest, and when needed, check in with planet earth on our free WiFi service. As an "eco-resort", we do not offer air conditioning, telephones, or televisions,... we are 100% off the grid. Please note: We are happy to charge your camera batteries, I-phones and blackberries, but we cannot charge your laptops because we have limited power source (solar energy only). Meanwhile, the solitude and beauty of the beach awaits you, the jungle of the Osa is calling (literally), Ojo del Mar's gardens, with a variety of native species are beckoning,… We, Nico and Mark, consider Ojo del Mar as a sacred place of happiness and live energy, far from everything but closer to its goal: Living large on a small ecological footprint. Ojo del Mar's 6 rustic, airy, elevated cabins are as close to nature as you can get. They are privately set among beautiful tropical gardens and trails on the property allow further exploration of tropical fruits and flowers and of the colorful wildlife species. All Cabinas have orthopedic beds, some have double beds, others have two twin beds that make into deluxe kings; all come with mosquito netting (even bugs are minimal here in paradise), cotton sheets and plenty of pillows, towels, biodegradable soaps, candles, flowers, etc.. Each cabina has its own mosaic-floored outdoor garden shower and sink. Most come with a private bathroom, two cabinas have their own bathroom under the same roof. A fabulous breakfast is included in the price of your stay, and lunch and dinner are available at our restaurant in the “Casa Grande" as well. We also offer two small locally hand crafted Bamboo Tiki tents for 2 people with either a double or 2 twin beds. The tents are spacious, close to the ocean on wooden platforms. They have a private outdoor shower, but you will be sharing a communal bathhouse with all facilities.   Ojo Del Mar lodge featuring yoga, wellness & whole foods, ecotourism and a retreat center in the Osa Peninsula Costa Rica.

We are an off-the-grid property in the heart of the Osa peninsula, surrounded by pristine, solitary beaches and lush jungle. Wake up to the sounds of monkeys, macaws, and tumbling surf just outside your door. Just steps to a secluded beach with excellent surf. Walk to a nearby waterfall and world-class surf spots, and an internationally acclaimed restaurant and bar. Individual, private cabin in a very quiet, secure, lush tropical property. Includes your own kitchen, and you can pick your own mangoes for breakfast, while watching the monkeys swing from the banana trees just off your front porch. Cabins also include a private bathroom, fans, and refrigerator. Your cabina features hardwood floors throughout, and traditional Tico construction. Queen bed with mosquito netting, and safes. Free WiFi (yes, in the jungle) is also available. Nearby day excursions include Corcovado National Preserve (home to some of the planet's greatest biological diversity) guided nature hikes, surf trips, birding, diving, sailing, and even whale-watching. Out here, there are no high-rises, no electrical lines cluttering the view of the ocean, no noisy discos, and no crowds on the beaches...you will often have an entire beach all to yourself, even on weekends! At night, fall asleep to nothing more than the sounds of wildlife and waves. Cabinas Ola Mar is one of the few places where you really can get away from it all! Guest AccessIn addition to your fully equipped, self-contained cabin, guests have access to our open air Casa Grande - with internet and telephone access, hammocks and comfy couch for lounging, an extensive lending library of books, skin care products, binoculars, etc. We also have expansive lawn areas for viewing the night sky without the nuisance of light pollution or lounging during the day and being entertained by the extensive wildlife that flos through the yard. Interaction with GuestsDuring your stay there will always be someone on hand - either one of the owners or a manager to help answer any questions, give you directions, make suggestions or meet any of your other needs. That being said, you are welcome to just stay to yourself in your cabin with the assurance you will not be distrurbed. The NeighborhoodCabinas Ola Mar is located in the small beachside community of Cabo Matapalo at the southern tip of Costa Rica's Osa peninsula in an area of outstanding natural beauty, where dense tropical rainforest tumbles down through misty hills and valleys onto a rugged coastline of rocky coves, sandy bays and distant headlands to meet the sparkling blue waters of the Golfo Dulce and crashing waves of the pacific ocean. This is the wild side of Costa Rica, one of the last untamed regions in the country, with over 70% of the rainforest still intact. The peninsula is home to Corcovado National Park, the jewel in the crown of the nation's wildlife and conservation programs. The park encompasses one third of the peninsula and is one of central americas last refuges for the elusive Jaguar. The Osa is a place of intense biodiversity, a noah's ark of flora and fauna. Many of Costa Rica's most endangered species proliferate here and especially in the Cabo Matapalo area you will be sure to see all four of central america's primate groups. The howler monkey, spider monkey, capuchin and most endangered, the squirrel monkey, not to mention a host of other strange and exotic creatures. A staggering 426 species of birds have been recorded on the peninsula and our area is home to one of the most endangered, the raucous, larger than life scarlet macaw. At one point there were more scarlet macaws in captivity than existed in the wild. Now, thanks to efforts by conservation groups and individuals, the balance is being redressed. Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, located in the country's remote southern zone, is home to empty beaches, lush jungles, and some of the planet's greatest diversity of wildlife. It is known for world-class surf, fishing, birding, and other activities. It also is home to Corcovado National Park, which National Geographic magazine described as sheltering many of the earth's rare wildlife species. There are no major highways, no grid electricity, and no crowds on the Osa. One main road carries visitors and local around the outer edge of the peninsula, and everything else is wild. This is truly a rare find in Central America and so far has escaped the influences of mass tourism. It is a special place for those interested in quiet, secluded vacations that are close to nature. Getting AroundAirport: Puerto Jimenez: 7.5 mi Ferry: Puert Jimenez: 7.5 mi So far the Osa peninsula has escaped the impact of mass tourism, due in part to it's wild and rugged geography. Most of the peninsula is still off the grid and getting here can be an adventure in itself. However, it is getting easier to reach the Osa. Local airlines, Nature Air and Sansa have daily flights from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez and the old access road from Chacarita is being vastly improved, with new bridges and less potholes. Driving time from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez is now down to about six hours, even if you are coming by bus. If you do arrive by public transport you can hire a 4wd right next to the airport or take the collectivo, a covered truck with basic seating in the back. It runs out to Carate twice a day, at 6 am. and 1.30 pm. The driver can drop you off right by our entrance. It's a slow and bumpy ride, but at $8 is a lot cheaper than the $30 taxi fare to get out here. There are very few amenities on this side of the peninsula so you will need to stock up with supplies and fill up your tank in Puerto Jimenez, before you head out on the dirt road to Cabo Matapalo . Shanti Wasi is 15km. south of town, about 30 minutes drive. The road is a graded dirt road and there are a number of narrow bridges to cross and one river to ford, fairly easy in the dry season, December to April, and sometimes during the wet season require a 4x4. Once past the river, you will pass three properties on your left hand side (Ojo del Mar, Finca Camisas y Sombreros and Playa del Paz) and the Corcovado school on your right hand side. After passing these landmarks, take the left just before Martina's Bar. Follow the lane down and pass Casa Mil Flores on your left and when you come to Casa Dos Rios make another left. The entrance to Shanti Wasi will be directly in front of you behind a large wood gate and fence. Congratulations, you made it.

The SpaceExperience for yourself, how special Casa Dos Rios is! Where the rainforest meets the sea, you can experience tropical nature in abundance. This 4 bedroom home on the beachfront is perfect for family or friend gatherings. Even so, it has been visited and enjoyed by honey-mooners, groups of 4 or less, and even a single person. The area is known for yoga retreats, and the property has a covered yoga deck, where classes are available to guests during the high season. The photos tell much of what it has to offer, but if you like sleeping to the sound of waves, waking to the jungle sounds of birds and howler monkeys, plus living in view of the waters of Gulf Dulce you will choose Casa Dos Rios... and if you like living up high, on the level of the trees and the monkeys passing by, then it's second-level living space is also right for you. The location is special for its jungle locale, it's proximity to the really cool and eclectic bar-restaurant (a community gathering place just down the beach path) and it's neighbourhood of wonderful people! The home was built from local hardwood lumber by its owner, and so much of the design takes the environment and air flow into consideration. The cupela directs air up and out, the breezeway downstairs forms a breeze tunnel, while the trees hugging the house cool it and give it a tree- house feel. All four kinds of monkeys are abundant in this area of Costa Rica, and are often seen in the yard and trees, from inside the house. The beds are queen sized with pillow-top mattresses (recently upgraded) and have very good no-see-um netting, plus fans and lights within the bed. The baths and kitchen have hot and cold water. There are two bedrooms downstairs and two up. The managers live on site and are available to help with arranging tours, taxis, car rental, reservations at area restaurants, etc. They have been here for over 7 years. Gluten-free meals are available here, as the owner bakes great gluten-free breads, pies and desserts. Pricing includes cleaning and taxes, so the quote of a rate does not have hidden charges. Gratuities to the cleaning staff are encouraged. On the grounds there is croquet, horse shoe pits, a yoga deck and a beach right out front. Just to the right along the beach is the mouth of the Carbonera River with such cool clear fresh water! It is a great place to take small children to play, or for a cooling pool. The area is rain forest, but along the road a couple blocks away is a good place for viewing many kinds of birds, and the birding tours actually come there. The bar-restaurant down the lane is a good place to enjoy lunches and dinners most days. (they close for Sept., Oct. and Nov. each year). There is public transit to and from town twice a day. The nearest town is Pto. Jimenez 11 miles away by dirt road. The owner-managers can call taxis for you, or arrange car rental. Guest AccessOur property is located BEFORE the Rio Carbonera (treacherous river crossing), giving you the amenities of Cabo Matapalo, but with less wear and tear on vehicles! We have wifi, phone reception, a path to the bar, 5 minutes away, and we can provide added services, arranging your car rental, tours, etc. Owner, Melanie is experienced with cooking with meats, gluten-free and vegetarian. We have a covered yoga deck, croquet, horse-shoe pits, sea kayak and boogie boards. (Wifi in this area is basic, and not strong enough for streaming). Interaction with GuestsWe are around when needed, or to help with arrangements, but we are in our own house, and the landscaping is planted to privatize both houses. They are about 150 ft. apart. We know that most of our guests want privacy and we respect that. We have a separate path to the beach. We do stand by to help with any arrangements our guests might want, be it car rental, reservations at a resort nearby for dining, or just arranging a massage therapist who will come to you. The NeighborhoodWe have the unique situation of being near the community bar-restaurant, yet far enough away and on the beach, to have peace and quiet, with adjoining rainforest and sound of waves. We also have the Carbonera River with its cold, clear water pouring out nearby into Golfo Dulce. Our property drains well so that biting insects are not a problem, plus the grounds are lushly landscaped and the house is very large, great for families or friendship groups. Getting AroundThere is a "collectivo" bus that comes to the main road down our lane twice a day bound for town. There are also taxis, rental car companies and your thumb, for getting around. Other Things to NoteAt Casa Dos Rios we provide a sea kayak, boogie boards, rent out surfboards, offer meal services, have yard games and can provide concierge services. Seasonally, we also offer the option of a sailing tour on our 36 ft. Columbia sailboat, Sorrento. Ask us about this!

The SpaceVisitors repeatedly say that Casa Bambu is exceptional, and have made it a Travelers Choice Winner on TripAdvisor for four years. This year it was among TripAdvisor’s top hotels for families in all Costa Rica and Central America. The SpaceVisitors repeatedly say that Casa Linda is exceptional, and have made it a Travelers Choice Winner on TripAdvisor for four years. This year it was among TripAdvisor’s top hotels for families in all Costa Rica and Central America. Located on four acres in the midst of the rainforest, this off grid, bamboo house is right on beautiful Playa Pan Dulce, the area's premier beach and an easy walk to several others. It is remote and secluded, yet not isolated; comfortable yet unspoiled. It lets you: experience the true Costa Rica, one of the most amazing areas on earth; relax on the beach; surf uncrowded waves; commune with monkeys; and enjoy countless natural wonders. All while staying secure and comfortable. At Casa Linda the ocean waves lull you to sleep and the roar of the howler monkeys awaken you to a glorious sunrise over the Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf). The house itself is a simple, yet comfortable handcrafted bamboo house directly overlooking the beach. The SpaceCasa „Oceanside“ was designed with love and function in mind. Cool and open during the hot summer months, but dry and cozy once the rain hits. The two storied concrete bungalow, perfectly tucked away in a lush tropical two acre garden teeming with wildlife can be, whatever you want it to be: A „surfer´s private refuge“, a „birdwatcher´s colourful paradise“, a „quiet girlie getaway“, a „honeymooner´s romantic hideout“ or a „wildlife enthusiat´s research base“. The house sleeps two persons comfortable (kingsize bed), or three at the most (additional sofa). Steps away from Playa Sombrero in the Matapalo Area, Casa „Oceanside“ offers everything you need for a lifetime experience along the jungles of the the prestine Osa Peninsula. Being so far off the grid, we work with solar power around here. Our panels provide enough energy to power the lights, a refrigerator to keep your drinks cool and your veggies fresh, your laptop and also the B&W stereo system (iPod or iPhone docking station up to G4). Our fresh water source is a deep well. The water gets pumped via a 12v solar pump into the tank ontop of a tower and flows back by gravity into the house. Our water has been tested by a labratory in New York and is 100% drinkable and good for cooking. The fully equipped kitchen comes with all amenities, pots, pans, cuttlery and towels, a 4 range gas-stove, a big „Sundancer“ fridge and a breakfast countertop for 2-4 persons. The storage room that houses the solar batteries and the inverter (converting 12 volt solar power to 110v) also has a security safe for all your valuables such as credit cards, passports, cash money or cameras/phones. The internet out here is weak and patience is key. In case of emergency we can provide a 3G iPhone with a local SIM card to check mails. The restaurant “Alternativas” (walking distance) has a stronger connection and in Puerto Jimenez, the internet cafe “Cafe Sol” provides a fast wireless connection. A spacious living area with two sofas borders the office space with a big office table, bookshelf with plenty of reading material in german, spanish and english and a reading sofa/day bed combo, that can easily serve as a third bed. The bathroom provides towels, hot water shower, hot water sink and a toilet and was just redone with a very stylish slate floor. Upstairs you will find the masterbedroom with a huge kingsize bed and a super comfy new matress. A tight mashed mosquito net will help to keep insects out during the wet months (July to December). From Januarz until June, you could easily sleep without the net. The Masterbedroom is surrounded by terraces. The roofs of the bathroom and the office also serve as hangout platforms. A big sundeck with two hammocks and wooden chairs plus table are perfect for that sundown cocktail while you watch howler monkeys up close, crazy squirrel monkeys swiftly leaping great distances from branch to branch, pairs of Scarlett Macaws flying overhead and hummingbirds buzzing close to your head, trying to reach the feeders. If you are lucky you will see an anteater strolling through the garden or a coati (pizote) checking for something to eat in the tropical bush. From the office roof, you can climb onto the roof of the bedroom via a comfortable ladder and gaze at the starts at night. During the summer months it is highly recommendable to throw some pillows up onto the roof and lie there for hours with a cool drink in hand, watching shooting stars, or checking the always visible Orion constellation, the beautiful Pleiades or the southern Zodiac signs. Nothing short of miraculous. „National Geographic“ once described the Osa Peninsula as „one of the world´s biologically most intense places on earth.“ Once here, you will quickly find out why. A hobby-birdwatcher from Minnesota recently counted 137 different species of birds on our property alone. Add the Otters, playing in our clear water river, that runs through the property, the occasional Sloth, Armadillos, Caimans, Turtles, Toucans, Aracaris, Monkeys, Anteaters, Iguanas or the Sea Turtles, Pelicans, Dolphins and Whales and you get an idea. As for activities, they are almost too numerous to mention: Perfect Longboard- and easy learning waves for surfing, roll in right infront of the house. We run a small but exquisite surf school business off Playa Sombrero and always have plenty of rental boards to chose from. Grab a board, walk 80 yards to the beach at hightide and enjoy the waves with only you and a few other friendly surfers in the line-up. For the more experienced surfer, world class waves can be found in the close vicinity. Also: sea kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, SUP paddling, swimming, snorkeling, boogieboarding, sport fishing and boat trips are all possible. We can assist you with your trip into the Corcovado National Park too. Tidepools are waiting a 10 minute walk down the beach. Treeclimbing, jungle hikes, waterfall repelling, horseback riding, bird watching, yoga classes, massages, or just long walks along the wild and empty beaches without ever meeting another soul will make your stay a remarkable memory. Bring sandals, the sand gets very hot. During your stay, there will be property managment nearby. If you have questions, just ask. Rental Car assitance, medical attention, shopping in Puerto Jimenez, trip booking etc... We will be more than happy to help. Pura Vida Michelle & Eddy Guest AccessUnsere Gäste haben zu allen Bereichen Zugang. Interaction with GuestsWhen our house is rented, we move to a small shack on the beach, in walking distance to the house. We are around and can be approached in cases of emergency or if our guests need something or have a question. But at the same time, we make sure, that our guests do not get disturbed and that they enjoy total privacy. The NeighborhoodPlaya Sombrero, Carbonera and Cabo Matapalo is a small stretch of isolated and lonely beaches with a string of houses, tucked away in the bushes. Nice people and friendly neighbors that know each other for years, look out and help each other. Getting AroundGetting around here is mostly by private car or by foot along the beach. A rental car is not a must, but does make things easier. There are three rental car agencies in Puerto Jimenez to chose from.

The SpaceCasa Mil Flores is a hidden gem located on the Osa Peninsula in the southern zone of Costa Rica. Located a short walk off the beachfront, the house is close enough to enjoy the sound of the rolling waves on Playa Carbonera. To the other direction, the property boarders a nature reserve with abundant wildlife and plant bio-diversity. Casa Mil Flores is conveniently located in a small neighborhood, close to the rare amenities of the local bar/restaurant, school, and transportation. The one acre property has been strategically landscaped with tropical fruit trees and foliage to add to the privacy of this home. Beautifully designed, the house has a passive solar concrete first floor and an all tropical hardwood upper level. The first floor offers a cool relief from the tropical mid-day heat. There is a guest bedroom with a king size bed. This room is perfect for the late morning snooze or afternoon nap. The lower level of the house also has a living room, a professionally equipped kitchen, a large master bath, and a covered deck area for dining and relaxation. If you love to cook, you will appreciate the professional gas range, the full size solar powered refrigerator with freezer (a rare find on the osa!), snack bar, inside-outside wood bar and abundant counter space. The water for this entire home is purified with a UV filtration system. The second floor is an expansive open master bedroom constructed of tropical hardwood and a polished wood floor that can double as a yoga room. There is a king size bed with a queen size hide a bed and a sofa bed. There is also a full bath with views of the jungle and mountains. Upstairs has two large decks for animal viewing and evening sunsets over the distant ridge line. This home is about 100 meters from our local beach and within a 10-30 minute walk (or a short drive) to all of the surfing waves of the matapalo area. The area offers many activities such as jungle hikes, birding tours, horseback riding, river and waterfall walks, as well as sailing, world class fishing, outstanding surf breaks for all levels, surf lessons and local yoga classes. For added privacy, this property has been landscaped with a living fence. It also includes a carport and a gated entrance. Please check out the garden too! I have planted many fruits and local herbs. Different things are in season at different times…please feel free to forage…but always leave enough for the next person. Thanks! Interaction with GuestsI am very happy to have email interaction with my guests. I am very accessible via internet….unless I am camping at a remote surf location…which I honestly wish happened more often. The NeighborhoodMy home is very close to the mouth of the Rio Carbonera. This is the best waterfront, natural dipping pool in the matapalo area. It can be quite refreshing on a hot summer day. It is also a cool, safe, calm place for small children to swim and play. Getting AroundTaxis can be arranged to come to the house. Best to give the drivers a days notice to ensure availability. My caretakers can make these arrangements for guests. Other Things to NoteThis home is located about 150 meters from the only public bar/restaurant in matapalo. It is convenient for a quick meal and there is an organic farmers market on friday afternoons. During the high season, Friday nights are the community social time. Its fun to mingle with the locals. Please be aware that sometimes music can be heard from my house on a busy Friday night or during special events but music shuts down by 12:30. This is a solar run home and when there is cloudy weather or storms power may run low. It is important to keep the system running well. High energy consumption appliances can not be run here, including hair dryers and clothes dryers. Guests may ask the house keeper to do laundry but may not use those facilities on their own. I do have a generator back up that will be used when the system is low. Hot water is only offered in the downstairs master bathroom shower. Also, due to the remote location of the Matapalo area, there may also be lapses in internet access for various reasons. Lastly, due to the remote area, it is recommended that guests buy all of their food, fill their rental car with gas, and get all cash from the ATM for their stay, before coming out from Puerto Jimenez. The road can be a long trip back to town depending on the weather and there are no grocery stores in the Matapalo area.

The SpaceCasa Tonka (1 king sized bed) is a open air house located on the beach of the Osa Peninsula, it is important to understand that you are one with nature while staying in this unique home, there are no doors! Casa Tonka/Playa Sombrero is 14 kilometers from Puerto Jimenez in the southwest of Costa Rica where the rainforest meets the sea. It is one of the most remote, most spectacular and wildest regions in the country. One of the last places in Costa Rica to be settled, it has been dubbed Costa Rica's last wilderness frontier. Rich in wildlife, sparsely populated and until recently very difficult to access by road. Consequently much of the peninsula is still covered in majestic, pristine rainforest. Dominated by Corcovado National Park which protects most of the peninsula, the Osa supports more then fifty percent of the animal and plant species that live in Costa Rica. National Geographic has described the Osa as, "The most biologically intense place on earth". Casa Tonka has a very well stocked gourmet kitchen, sitting/dining room, and a single large bedroom on the second floor which is perfect for a couple or a small family. There is a separate bath house with a stone shower, open on one side for a superb natural view through the rainforest plants and trees, often accompanied in close proximity by monkeys, macaws, toucans and many other jungle birds and animals. For larger groups there is another open air bamboo casa available. "The Rancho" guest house which is located just a couple of minutes walking distance from Casa Tonka along with a 2nd private bathhouse. Located a thirty minute drive from Puerto Jimenez and ten minutes from the Matapalo surf breaks, it is well situated, and has plenty of privacy on a park-like property. Designed and built in the Colombian style of bamboo structures, it is on a world class level of design and execution. The property is off the grid, with a very ample solar electric system and well water from the same property. Guest AccessAlong the coast of the Osa Peninsula, azure waves crash down on sand and rock, sending saltwater mist over the vast, sprawling jungle. Palm trees lean out from the interior of the dark forest toward the intense sunlight of the beach. A visitor to this isolated coast might walk hours (or even an entire day) without meeting a single person. The Osa Peninsula is one of the last places in the world where virgin rainforests grows right to the high tide line. This junction of land and sea creates a unique zone that supports exceptional biodiversity and offers refuge for sea turtles, scarlet macaws, and other endangered species. Many terrestrial, freshwater, and saltwater species are ecologically connected here. Known for its remoteness and named for the towering strangler fig, Matapalo is located in the Osa Peninsula, which has become Costa Rica's premier Eco-tourism destination far from the tourist filled beach towns. The Osa harbors a diversity of habitats and species unheard of elsewhere for an area of its size (less than half of Rhode Island). Between two to three percent of the flora of the Osa exists nowhere else on earth. It contains 13 major ecosystems, including rainforests, lowland forests, cloud forests, mangrove and freshwater swamps, lagoons, beaches, and coral reefs. Jacques Cousteau called its magnificent Golfo Dulce (sweet gulf) the most pristine of the world's four tropical fjords. Home to vast Corcovado National Park, known as the "crown jewel" of Costa Rica, the area (including our neighborhood) is teeming with life. We are located in a premier spot, close to are good restaurants, fun tours, yoga classes and gorgeous hikes. Getting AroundYou can rent a car (we will help you arrange this) but you don't need one if you don't mind walking around and taking taxis when needed. We use only the most reliable drivers with the newest and most comfortable taxis. We will arrange any transport you need, including having a taxi meet your arrival flight and take you to your departure. There is also public transport twice a day to Puerto Jimenez. Parking is included.

Casa Jungua (recently completed) was built by a master timber framer and everything about it screams QUALITY. It is sustainably built and has an extremely low impact on the environment. The house is exclusively solar powered yet features many amenities one would expect from a “wired” home. Casa Jungua can sleep up to 6 people. It has two large bedrooms and a large open plan living room, dining room & well equipped kitchen. The “monkey porch” and full-length front porch are great for lounging and watching the daily show that the jungle provides or just experiencing the breathtaking views of the sea. The front yard features a pool and the signature element of the property – a pavilion that is suspended over the jungle and looks down on Lower Matapalo and the gulf. From this vantage point our guests enjoy watching the sunrise, a wide variety of wildlife, surfers, fishing boats, waves, humpback wales, etc. while dining, enjoying a morning coffee or happy hour after a long day of hiking, fishing or simply lounging. Casa Jungua sits atop an exclusive private bluff of thousands of acres overlooking both the Gulfo Dulce as well as the Pacific ....no one is to be seen or heard except for the abundant wildlife of course. Situated on an exclusive bluff ("Upper Matapalo") Casa Jungua sits directly above the surfers paradise of Back Wash Bay and Matapalo Beach on the tip of the Osa Peninsula. Casa Jungua is fortunate to be one of only 4 houses on this expansive high point which affords us great privacy, unbelievable views, incredible wildlife (we are set way off any road) and yet...within just a short 10 minute hike down or a quick drive "around" one can be snorkeling, surfing, swimming or just lounging on the beach.

Casa Troya is an open air, bamboo house. The design reflects the typical home design of the Osa Peninsula with its half-height walls and natural, local building materials. Cabinas Ola Mar is located in the small beachside community of Cabo Matapalo at the southern tip of Costa Rica's Osa peninsula in an area of outstanding natural beauty, where dense tropical rainforest tumbles down through misty hills and valleys onto a rugged coastline of rocky coves, sandy bays and distant headlands to meet the sparkling blue waters of the Golfo Dulce and crashing waves of the pacific ocean. This is the wild side of Costa Rica, one of the last untamed regions in the country, with over 70% of the rainforest still intact. The peninsula is home to Corcovado National Park, the jewel in the crown of the nation's wildlife and conservation programs. The park encompasses one third of the peninsula and is one of central america's last refuges for the elusive Jaguar.
