The Space Just outside the gold rush village of Fiddletown, Casa de la Pradera offers stays on a small organic farm that produces vegetables, fruits, walnuts and eggs. Comfortable guest room upstairs. Nearby wineries, charming towns, good restaurants. This is a European-style farm stay, offering simple, very comfortable lodging with a full breakfast made with organic locally sourced eggs and produce and homemade bread. I use only nontoxic, natural cleaning products such as baking soda and lavender oil. Private room, shared bath, downstairs kitchen/living room, 10 acres of garden, meadow and woods. I enjoy getting to know my guests in particular over breakfast, and I am delighted to show my small farming operation to those who are interested, either informally or through workshops on growing crops, bread making, jam making, or cheese making. I am right over the ridge (less than 1/4 mile) from the tiny village of Fiddletown, where I grew up and which still has many historic buildings and a museum, the Chew Kee Store. There are a number of public events, among them the Fiddlers Jam the third Saturday in September. Look up other events on the Amador County web site. No Public transportation. Bicycle travel challenging, though bike groups do travel the rural roads. I do have a fairly large dog, Sally, who really likes people and is well behaved. If you have small children with you or you are dog-phobic, I will ensure minimal contact. She is never allowed in the upstairs where the guest rooms are. Most guests love her! The SpaceWe both enjoy the arts and the beauty of old buildings and architecture. This house provided us the great opportunity of buying a historic home in a great downtown location with proximity to the an area that we love and have family in. Guest AccessGuests have full access to the house. Interaction with GuestsWe have limited contact with our guests since the house is located out of town for us, but we are available by phone and email to answer questions and help. The NeighborhoodWe have made every effort to make everything in the home period and reflect the Victorian age of the house in a modern setting. Leave your memories of a busy Victorian with an excess of florals and nick nacks behind. Instead, you will feel the ease of a classic style scaled down to a contemporary atmosphere where each individually selected piece of artwork and furniture can be appreciated. Getting AroundIt's an easy walk into downtown Plymouth that offers fine dining at Taste Restaurant, delicious deli offerings for your picnic at Amador Vintage Market or sample wine at Prospect Cellars and more. Guest AccessPlease note that because of the large size of the property, the house is accessed through a gated gravel driveway that is 1 mile long and not suited for a night arrival if you are not familiar with the surroundings. We are about 5 miles from the Steiner Road wineries, which takes about 15-20 minutes once you leave the house. Other Things to NoteThere is one supermarket (Pokerville) and a few restaurants located in Plymouth, which is about 25 minutes from the property, so please keep this in mind when you arrive, as it is inconvenient to arrive and then have to head back out again. We advise bringing in your groceries for at least evening and breakfast and then enjoying a day out of hiking around our property or enjoying the local vinyards.

Built in 1880, This Victorian home has been lovingly maintained for more than a quasquicentennial. To embrace the era, we have decorated Suite Lorraine in authentic antique art and furnishings, and added modern amenities for your convenience & comfort. Each of three bedrooms has a queen sized bed, fine linens and luxury mattresses. Both bathrooms have been updated with subway tile and classic black and white mosaic tile floors. Both bathrooms feature showers with modern glass doors, antique mirrors and wonderfully soft towels. The kitchen has been opened up to give a more modern, open feel to the living space. Featuring butcher block counters, subway tile to the ceiling, new cabinets with antique pulls, and numerous hand painted Victorian plates for decor; this kitchen will also please the chef in your party with a stainless hood over the stove, and all new appliances. In an attempt to enrich your experience we've created a kitchen that has modern amenities, but yields to it's origins. The kitchen has two under-the-counter refrigerators (one mini-fridge and one wine refrigerator) and a small ice maker and no freezer. The feel of the original kitchen is brought forward in time. Everything to prepare and serve a gourmet meal is provided. Spend your day tasting and searching for the perfect bottle of wine to share around the antique oak table with barley twist legs with friends and family. Take advantage of the abundant sunshine and warm evenings at the picnic table or around the vintage patio table on the deck shrouded with grapevines. Fire up the BBQ and create your own special evening in a truly memorable setting! Alternatively, take a stroll into town and be served one of the best meals available in the greater Sacramento area at Taste Restaurant. Stop into the Amador Vintage Market for homemade deli items and sandwiches and take them on a picnic to one of the many wineries in this picturesque area. Antiquing and boutique shopping abound for the treasure hunter in your group. For the more adventurous type, try spelunking, gold panning, zip lining, horseback riding or canoeing not far away.
