The SpaceWalk to shops & restaurants or see a film at the Seacoast's famous Music Hall. Visit historic Strawbery Banke as Summer comes to Prescott Park. Our quaint town offers art, pubs, history, music & more all throughout the year. Guests will be staying in an antique Portsmouth home, built in 1804. The ceilings in the rooms are low, helping to keep much of the historic character. It has the charm one hopes to find in New England seaports but the art and design also make it contemporary. It's a combination of the two that bring it into the present. My house is a four block walk from historical downtown Portsmouth which has a beautiful waterfront; boating and kayaking tours and rentals, along with shops & excellent restaurants, walking, running & riding trails are all around. Market Square -- where holiday events and live entertainment go on throughout the year -- is the town's center and surrounded by eclectic shops and award winning restaurants. Less than an hour drive from Boston and Logan airport, we are centrally located - an easy drive north to the Maine coasts and Salem, Gloucester and Rockport, Massachusetts to the south. There's a coveted single off-street parking spot and a safe place to store bikes. On the back porch guests will find a charcoal grill available; two doors away is a neighborhood market that boasts the coldest beer in town. I have 2 3-speed British bicycles for guests to use. My parents brought them back from England after they honeymooned in London almost 50 years ago. They've just been tuned up and are ready for peddling through Portsmouth's streets. Portsmouth offers a downtown trolley (Summer 2016 schedule available) to access all the major areas within town. There are bike rentals nearby, horse drawn carriages, taxis, and even kayaks to navigate the waterways. For transport to and from Portsmouth C&J offers an excellent bus service to Newburyport, Boston, and New York. No dogs, please, but we are diabetic-friendly. Weekly rental price is for the entire house -- comfortably sleeps four, not including sectional or inflatable mattress. There's a single off-street parking spot and a safe place to store bikes. There's a back porch and two doors away is a neighborhood market that boasts the coldest beer in town. This really depends on the guests. I obviously have a job to run off to and errands to tend, but I also enjoy interacting and learning about my visitors. I'm always available to answer questions via phone, text, or email, but -- since I'll be sharing the same roof -- there'll be plenty of time to be sociable if that's what the guest desires. I can accommodate both time and space to fit the wants of my guests, and am happy to do so. The SpaceAlmost right out of an HGTV episode, this house has both style and comfort. Rich with gardens, bird songs, and the sounds of the close by Piscataqua River, this home is a relaxing delight. Take a short ride to explore downtown Kittery or Portsmouth, or go a bit further and enjoy the beaches. This home fits two people quite comfortably. Guest AccessGuests will have full use of the house, including a modern kitchen and a deck with a gas grill. There's wifi internet, basic cable and HBO, and a binoculars to get a closer look at the Herons and Kingfishers. W/D in the basement if needed. Interaction with GuestsAlthough I may be around during the day to work in the yard, I won't be sleeping at the home during your stay. The NeighborhoodThis is a fairly quite spot, but the house is just a couple miles from dining, music, theater, and shopping. Bring your bikes and take a short ride to downtown Kittery or Portsmouth, or go a bit further (10 miles or so) and discover the beaches in Kittery, York or Rye. Whether you love a coffee and a carrot-zucchini muffin from the all-natural bakery or plate of "latin" Putine from the Brazilian restaurant, your dining choices are plentiful. Getting AroundGuests will need a car, as there really isn't public transportation in the area. Plenty of room to park in the driveway. Other Things to NoteWell behaved, relatively clean dogs under 50 lbs are welcome. The yard is not fenced, but there is a dog run. Sorry, no cats.

The SpaceThis tastefully furnished private room with queen sized bed is just a 10-minute stroll to downtown Portsmouth. Located on a quiet street, yet close to shopping and cafe/restaurants in the heart of Market Square. We are young professionals, and we truly love to share with our guests where you can get the best lobster roll, cool antique shops, and where to get delicious ice cream in town. Guest AccessThere is a shared bathroom directly across the room for your use and as well as a half bathroom downstairs. Make yourself a gourmet meal in the large fully equipped kitchen or grill out and sip beverages out on the patio. Feel free to lounge in the living room or just hang out in the dining area. We're happy to make you coffee or tea in the morning but we'll also show you where the coffee/tea is if you're a 6am riser! We don't provide food for our guests because we are mindful that some have preferences and/or food allergies, but we do have the most condiments you would ever want, as well as coffee and tea, and many of the things you would need in the bathroom such as towels, shampoo, soap, hair dryer, and more. Interaction with GuestsThis is our primary residence and so, we'll be sharing the same roof. Ashley works away from the home, but Elyse works from home most days. While I (Elyse) am available to answer simple questions, I ask that you respect work time space. We are happy to chat and answer any questions you may have in the evenings. I'm available promptly via phone, text, or email if you have any questions. We would love to recommend our favorite things to do in and around Portsmouth. We have a sweet pup named Aubrey who will happily greet you with some kind of toy (or sock) in his mouth. He is incredibly well-behaved and a favorite among our guests! The NeighborhoodThe immediate neighborhood is quiet and lovely to walk through. Goodwin Park is a nice spot to sit on a park bench. We are situated in a residential neighborhood just step away from several coffee shops and restaurants. We are a short walk from historical downtown Portsmouth which boasts a beautiful waterfront, boating and kayaking tours and rentals, shops and restaurants, walking trails, and nightlife. I live near Market Square, the town's center, where live entertainment occurs throughout the year. Getting AroundThere is plenty of free, on-street parking but if you prefer to park in the driveway, we can certainly accommodate you. The home is easily accessible to I-95 which provides easy access to both Massachusetts and Maine. Other Things to Note-I have a dog (very sweet and goofy) so if you have allergies, this may not be the place for you. However, I do keep the home very clean (see my reviews). -Your bedroom has a ceiling fan. Typically, AC isn't needed but we put an AC unit in the room in the summers. Trust us, you won't need an AC unit in the winter. -If you'd like to have an extra guest, we can accommodate this by blowing up an airbed and putting it in the room. There is a $25 fee for each additional person after two guests. -While there is a large TV in the living room, I don't have cable nor regular channels. The TV would be good for watching DVDs or Netflix.

The SpaceIn Portsmouth, NH's most historic waterfront neighborhood- you can smell the salt air. A small but awesome 1 bedroom, charming cottage with eat-in kitchen, cozy bedroom with brand new handmade mattress on queen bed and riverviews from every window. In sight of Prescott Park and walking distance to all downtown has to offer: shops, restaurants, clubs, bars, the Music Hall, museums, Strawbery Banke, the Isles of Shoals Steamship Co. and so much more. Just minutes drive to beaches in Rye, New Castle, Kittery, York or Hampton; 25 minutes to Ogunquit, Maine. Furnished with brand new contemporary furniture, antiques and art. Outdoor patio to watch the river traffic go by. No off street parking but plenty of free street parking right in front of the cottage. This is absolutely the coolest neighborhood in Portsmouth. You are in the hustle and bustle of Portsmouth's historic and lively downtown yet a step away in a peaceful, waterfront, residential neighborhood. The best of all worlds. By the week or by the day. No pets. The NeighborhoodA few minutes walk brings you to the waterfront scene on Ceres and Bow Streets. The views are awesome and the tugboats are beautiful. The restaurants have connecting decks on the river's edge. My two favorites are the bars at the Old Ferry Landing and the Martingale Wharf. I love the fried haddock sandwich with cheddar at the Ferry Landing- simple but always makes me happy. Martingale Wharf is much more upscale but no less fun - nice selection of local craft beers on tap - at night there are fire pit tables along their long, riverfront dock and the lights on the river at night are very dramatic. Ceres Bakery on Penhallow St. makes great lunch specials and sandwiches with their fresh baked bread- sort of of a healthy, hippie scene - one of my favorites for 30 years. Also for lunch I like District on Congress St., either inside or out, and Dos Amigos Burritos on State St. which is a little closer to the cottage (big burritos, mostly take-out with a few tables). Notice the red door to the left of Dos Amigos, this is a small speakeasy club at night called The Red Door. Out of downtown, about a mile down Islington St., is Street 360. It features global street food mostly from S. America and Asia. The chicken cemita sandwich is just sick good, the noodle bowl with an egg and the bimbimbop are excellent along with the porchetta sandwich and falafal- funky street art, industrial ambiance, good beers, cocktails and cheap prices! The Wentworth by the Sea Hotel, which is a spectacular 10 minute drive along the water from the cottage, has a fairly new restaurant called SALT that is truly beautiful- very Euro-sleek. It can be as casual or formal as you like, they offer it all with their wood-fired brick oven pizzas and craft beers to Mediterranean inspired, signature-chef-driven dishes. Sunday Brunch here is the best ever! The Hotel also has a fun, casual restaurant across the street from the main hotel on the water called Latitudes with the best cliffside-ocean view for dining in the area - very cool for drinks or lunch. For dinner only, really close to the cottage is Mombo, maybe the best fine-dining restaurant in the city. Very beautiful decor in a 3 century old building, love this place. I often stop for a Cognac on my way walking back to the cottage after a night out in town. Moxy, just a few more minutes away and a block from the river on Penhallow St, has a great cocktail scene and wine list with an American tapas menu that has received a lot of attention from Food & Wine Magazine, James Beard Foundation etc. Everything is locally sourced, he only serves dinner. Cava is behind Moxy in the alley; excellent modern Spanish tapas, great wine list, an outdoor courtyard, a chef's bar and dining room on street level and a bar underground- reservations a must, they open at 3:30. Louie's on Pleasant St. is the newest restaurant in town and has an outstanding chef who really rocks it with seafood dishes. I think this my favorite dinner place right now. There are 2 new oyster bars in town, the Franklin Oyster House, owned by the same chef/owner at Moxy, and Row 34, a Boston restaurant that has expanded to Portsmouth. Over the bridge in Kittery, Maine just 5-10 minutes away, are maybe the 4 best restaurants in the seacoast: Black Birch, Anju Noodle Bar (Korean food!), Wallingford Dram and When Pigs Fly. Of course a picnic brought to any of the nightly shows, performances or concerts at Prescott Park is another great way to hang in my town. Other Things to NoteThe waterfront scene on Ceres and Bow Streets is fun and the views are awesome. The restaurants have connecting decks on the river's edge. My two favorites are the bars at the Old Ferry Landing and the Martingale Wharf. I love the fried haddock sandwich with cheddar at the Ferry Landing- simple but always makes me happy. The SpaceGuests will be staying in an antique Portsmouth home, built in 1804. The ceilings in the rooms are low, helping to keep much of the historic character. It has the charm one hopes to find in New England seaports but the art and design also make it contemporary. It's a combination of the two that bring it into the present. This listing is for the master bedroom, which includes a wall-mounted television and a bathroom equipped with a tub as well as a shower. Portsmouth offers a downtown trolley (Summer 2014 schedule available) to access all the major areas within town. There are bike rentals nearby, horse drawn carriages, taxis, and even kayaks to navigate the waterways. For transport to and from Portsmouth C&J offers an excellent bus service to Newburyport, Boston, and New York. Other Things to NoteThe stairway to the guest rooms are narrow and slightly steep, the originals from the early-1800s. It was suggested by a senior guest that I make this information known ahead of time...
