The SpaceCharters go out for up to three weeks and are all-inclusive, meaning everything except expenses you incur onshore is included. You pick the menu, beverages and help decide the course. Currently we are booked to July 20, and plan to operate on the Chesapeake to October. Then we'll be looking for clients to go down the ICW from Norfolk to Jacksonville, FL. Guest AccessThe whole boat, all food, snacks, all sorts of beverages, everything except my cholesterol medications. Interaction with GuestsA lot, except for daily shore excursions. We get up, have coffee and breakfast and look at the weather. Then we make a plan and rarely stick to it. That's cruising! The NeighborhoodThe ICW (IntraCoastal Waterway) has Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Savannah, Charleston, the Great Dismal Swamp, Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis, NYC, Boston, Portsmouth, VA, ME, NH and countless smaller stops with local color and food. One can easily spend a year on this trip. Pick a section! Getting AroundWe have a fast dinghy and folding bicycles. We have found reasonable ways to connect with clients who arrive by air. Other Things to NoteSome folks like to fish and we have all the gear, but this isn't much of a catching boat. The dinghy works pretty well to fish from in most of the sheltered waters we cruise in. You'll need a license for each state we fish in. We also have scuba gear, but I'm not a real dive master. You'll have to be a certified diver to use it.

The SpaceWHY THIS HOME? Because the home is very clean, and, even better, you can relax and enjoy the sounds of ferry boats and seagulls from your 120-yr-old Victorian home. Sofa bed and small bathroom with shower on 1st floor is perfect for those who can't do stairs. Also, the 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms - one for the co-host, and the master bedroom for guest/s. Second floor also has a claw foot tub in addition to the shower. Fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, gas stove, spices, china, glassware and dinnerware. Wireless internet access included. Living room and both bedrooms have TVs. NEIGHBORHOOD: Your home is in the Park View neighborhood, the first established residential "suburb" of the City of Portsmouth, annexed into Portsmouth in 1894. Your home sits on Owens Creek, directly across from Owens' Park. WHAT'S UNIQUE: This home is part of the Preservation Park View organization and profits are used for our neighborhood programs such as our Caring Angels Program, Art with a Heart, Mentors for Life, and many more. So you can enjoy giving, while taking a vacation! Easy :) Guest AccessGUEST ACCESS: Access the home via the keyless lock system on the front door. I will give you the combination the day before you arrive or at the time you arrive. You have access to the entire home except spaces marked "Private." Private spaces include one closet, one bedroom for host, the basement, attic, and the supplyroom. KEY: I will phone you with access information the day before, or the day of, your arrival. LAWN AND GARDEN MAINTENANCE: Lawn and garden personnel come into the yard to mow the lawn, as well as water and weed the gardens. For this reason please do not park on the west side (left as you are looking at the home from the street) of the home since the lawncare person needs to get his riding lawnmower into the back yard via this side of the home. Interaction with GuestsIf one of us is not there to let you in, please call host immediately when you enter the home, so we know you are there, can tell you where things are and how they work, and can give you a brief tour. Host or co-host may or may not be there during your stay. Host is available via phone at all times. The NeighborhoodWhat I love about my neighborhood is the beautiful assortment of old homes, and our very active neighborhood organizations: Preservation Park View as well as the Park View Civic League. I've here for five years and watched my neighbors help and look out for each other in countless ways. This is truly an "old-fashioned" neighborhood. Getting AroundTRANSPORTATION: Walk, bike, or drive to the Naval Medical Center only 1 mile from your front door. Downtown Portsmouth is only 2 miles away. Public bus transportation is available just 4 blocks from your front door. Also part of our public transportation is the Elizabeth River Ferry. The ferry runs about every 20 minutes from Portsmouth to Norfolk from 5:30 a.m. -9:30 p.m. (with shorter hours on Sundays). You can ride inside, or out in the open on the 2nd deck. The cost is very reasonable and there is usually plenty of parking around the two ferry stops in Portsmouth. On game days, the ferry also stops at the Tidewater Tides baseball park. If you bike to the ferry stop you can bring your bike onboard. WHAT TO DO? Right in downtown Portsmouth enjoy the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum, the Children's Museum, the Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center, the Portsmouth Farmers Market, and lots of restaurants. There is an information booth at the ferry stop at the wate'rs edge (east end) of London Boulevard in downtown. They have lots of additional information and pamphlets with ideas for what to do. SEEING THE SIGHTS - CLOSE BY: In addition to Portsmouth attractions and our great restaurants, you can also take in nearby Norfolk just across the Elizabeth River from Portsmouth. Want to go over to Norfolk without the hassle of traffic and parking? Hop on the ferry (a short 15 minute ride) from Portsmouth to Norfolk. Once you are in Norfolk, ride the light rail service around downtown, or to East Virginia Medical Center, the Children's Hospital, Norfolk State University, or the Tidewater Tides baseball field. Drive just 40 minutes to the beautiful ocean beaches of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, as well as businesses, government and educational institutions, including Tidewater Community College, Norfolk State University, Virginia Wesleyan, Hampton University, Regents University, Old Dominion University, and Norfolk Naval Base, the largest naval base in the world. FURTHER OUT: Drive only 40 minutes to Langley Air Force Base and only 45 minutes to Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and the beautiful outer banks beaches of North Carolina. Kings Dominion amusement park is 90 minutes, and Washington DC is 3 hours. All times are off-peak. As always, if you travel during rush hour please allow more time.
