Welcome to the William LeGrow House! Nestled in the heart of the quiet fishing village of Bauline is our traditional Newfoundland outport house. Offering views of the ocean and the 1000 ft mountain next door, it is just a three minute walk to the harbour wharf (including the time to get on your boots) and only a 30 minute drive from downtown St. John's. Our place offers all the peace and charm of a picturesque house and village “around the bay” in Newfoundland, but all the convenience of the close proximity to the provincial capital. For over sixty years, the house was owned by a fisherman, William LeGrow, and his wife Jean. They raised a family of seven children there and it still retains the atmosphere of a warm family home. The William LeGrow House features: • Full eat- in kitchen (includes stove, fridge, microwave, espresso maker, and basic staples and condiments) • Full 4pc bath • Two sitting rooms • 3 bedrooms –sleeps 6 (2 double beds, 1 twin bed, 1 blow up mattress)-all linens included • Wood stove and Electric heat • Washer & dryer • BBQ • Large deck • Wireless Internet • TV (no cable but a large selection of vintage movies) • Ocean and mountain views • Half hour drive from downtown St. John's • 20 minute drive from St. John's international airport Local Amenities: The newly extended East Coast Trail travels right through the Town of Bauline, steps from our door, offering marked hiking trails North and South along the coast. One can also find local trails to the top of the mountain, which provide stunning views in all directions. Try berry picking in the fall. View icebergs in the spring and even spot a whale just off shore of the community if you are lucky. In season, river fishing is available in the Bauline River, just a few minutes' walk through the town. During the recreational food fishery (twice a year) cod can be caught in the ocean departing from the town harbor if you are lucky enough to have your own boat, or possibly you can find a local fisherman to take you out. St. John's provides a wealth of things to do, places to explore, and events to entertain you. Bauline provides an excellent starting point to explore the city of St. John's, and many interesting, historic and beautiful parts of the Avalon Peninsula. The town of Bauline, just a 30 minute drive from St. John's and 20 minute drive from the airport, is a quiet fishing village with its own wharf and dramatic ocean and inland views. Facing West over the waters of Conception Bay, beautiful sunsets can be seen with the hills of the other side of the bay low on the horizon. The east cost trail passes right through the town offering hiking trails to the North and South as far as you care to travel. All the peace and tranquility of a village "around the bay" and only a quick trip in to town to enjoy all the arts, entertainment and history that St. John's has to offer.

Live in an older home newly refurbished and full of charm. Located in one of Newfoundland's oldest fishing communities (Pouch Cove) and just 20 minutes from the City of St. john's. This is a great location if you want to truly experience Newfoundland, hike the East Coast Trail, see North America's oldest city, or simply unwind. This home is located in the Town of Pouch Cove. It is an older saltbox home which has been completely refurbished to sustain the old charm but provide modern conveniences. The sitting room is upstairs, has lots of windows, and an excellent view of the surrounding streets and ocean. Bring your binoculars! There is ample parking in front of the house. You are just a few minutes walk from the East Coast Trail. For a unique experience, hike the trail to Cape St. Francis. Keep an eye out for whales and depending on the time of year, icebergs.

The SpaceThe cottage is the last of the old fishing premises in Pouch Cove. It initially housed a cod liver oil enterprise and was known as "The Factory." Later it was used to store salt and fishing gear and when the fishery was closed in 1992 is began to fall into disrepair. We purchased the Factory several years ago, rebuilt it, and began renting it to recover our costs. Initially we powered the cottage with a wind generator, relied on propane for heat, and a dug well for water. Today the cottage is connected to the provincial hydro grid and tied it into the municipal water system. Interaction with GuestsOur practice is to greet our guests upon arrival and be available to answer questions and be of assistance. We live nearby and can be reached anytime by phone or text. The NeighborhoodPouch Cove is a coastal community of about 2,000 people. Even though Pouch Cove is being drawn into the urban economy of metropolitan St. John's it still retains its rural character. Its history as a fishing community is on display in the museum at the Town Hall. Getting AroundA few of our guests have relied on bicycles for getting around, but a car is the best option.

This charming Saltbox style cottage is located in a small out port called Bauline. Bauline is located at the base of a 1000-foot high mountain where publicly groomed trails will lead you to the summit. This quaint and very clean, ocean front century home has a lovely western view of Conception Bay and the village's lobster/crab fishing port. Sunsets in Bauline are spectacular, especially while sipping on a cocktail on your own private, 300 square foot patio. Beside the property is a babbling brook that will serenade you to blissful slumber. Originally built in 1892, the Saltbox is carefully renovated to accommodate modern amenities however; we have attempted to keep a lot of the original character. Notice the stairs leading to the second floor are worn by over 100 years of traffic. Highlights of the Saltbox: The Saltbox is a 1500 square foot, 2 story century home on the ocean. This home can sleep up to 4 maximum with 2 bedrooms. Some of the highlights include: Second floor: One full bath, master bedroom facing the ocean with new extra plush king size bed, luxurious down-filled duvet, ultra soft linens, guest bedroom facing the harbour, with two twin, extra long beds. First floor: Powder room, washer, dryer, wireless internet, cable TV, VCR, stereo, large private 300 square foot deck with great panoramic ocean views, with outdoor patio furniture, 2 Muskoka lounge chairs with foot stools, and BBQ. Bright, clean kitchen with breakfast nook, large beautiful antique dining room with seating for 6, and a large living room with windows offering a magnificent view of the ocean from all angles, and a wood-stove. We also offer a fun collection of movies, east coast music and books for you to enjoy.
