Welcome! Come fish in the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River just steps from this private cabin. Keep an eye out for wildlife from either of the decks, or the large patio or covered porch at the rear of the cabin. If fishing isn’t your thing, from the front deck, enjoy 21 acres and an uninterrupted view to the West, of prairie and the nearby and spectacular Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains. The mountain seen from the covered deck is Heart Mountain. If you like wildlife, there’s plenty to see! Eagles, hawks, deer and antelope are easy to spot, but be aware that there may be small creatures such as coyote, fox, rabbits and the occasional snake or skunk nearby as well. Being small, you may actually surprise each other, so be on the lookout! For the athletic and adventurous, the Clark's Fork Canyon provides for excellent hiking and breathtaking photo opportunities. Accommodations The cabin main floor is an open floor plan, with a fully equipped Kitchen, dining and living areas common on the main floor. There is a full bath and private bedroom with twin beds on the main floor as well, for those who cannot easily manage stairs. Through the back door, there is a wide, covered porch running the length of the cabin where you can rest and have a great view of the river. The upstairs loft includes a bedroom with Queen Bed, and full bath. Downstairs, the walkout basement contains the laundry area (washer and dryer are provided), another full bath, two twin beds and additional room to spread out. For the fisherman, your license is available nearby at Edelweiss Country Store on the corner of Road 1AB and State Highway 120 at the entrance to the Clark Community. Road Trip! Take the road less traveled, to Yellowstone National Park via the Chief Joseph By-Way and closely follow the path of the Nez Pierce Indians as they fled the Cavalry in 1877. Continue on the Beartooth Highway and then on to Yellowstone National Park’s Grand Loop Road. Enjoy unlimited outdoor recreation all along this route as nearly all of it passes through National Forest…all told, a beautiful drive of just over 100 miles from your doorstep…this is one of America’s most scenic drives and one you won’t soon forget. There are many twists and turns; numerous ascents and descents on this trip, so allow about 2 hours to properly enjoy the scenery and all this drive has to offer. Shopping, entertainment and restaurants are an easy drive, just 30 miles away in Cody or Powell. The World Class Buffalo Bill Historical Center contains multiple venues including the Winchester Gun Collection, Plains Indian Museum, Whitney Gallery of Western Art, and of course, the Buffalo Bill Museum. Speaking of Buffalo Bill…Remember, this is cowboy country, so don’t miss the nightly rodeo in Cody, every night through the summer! Safety First! Remember, you’re in a rural and rugged area…the old west that only Wyoming can still provide. Barbed wire fences are sharp and the river can be swift…while the river is a sportsman’s paradise, it’s NOT a place for swimming and no attempt should be made to do so. Children, especially, should remain safely behind the gates on the property. Note: The last two miles of road to the property is well maintained gravel. Additional amenities include: media library, fireplace (wood burning), 2 bedrooms, spectacular views, fishing on the clark's fork of the yellowstone river, cards & board games, private, 4 twin beds, 1 queen bed, 3 bathrooms. The SpaceYou are welcome to use the space anyway you see fit. We have wireless wi-fi and places to sit and work inside and out. The local scenery is beautiful without going anywhere, but we are ideally located for Yellowstone Park, Red Lodge MT, The Big Horns, and The Beartooths. It is a daylight basement with french doors and windows so doesn't feel like a basement. We often make sourdough pancakes, scrambled eggs, french toast, cinnamon rolls and even biscuits and gravy! Just let us know the night before what you would like and what time you would like it! There is a small fridge in the storage room by the bathroom. Help yourself to bottled water and feel free to store perishables there Use the outdoor fireplace and relax a little. Guest AccessBasement and outside property. Interaction with GuestsSharon works out of the home and is available most of the time. Jerry works for the Game and Fish and is especially good at giving fishermen the heads up as to where the fish are biting and information regarding little known hiking trails to really get to see wildlife and this beautiful country. We leave it up to the guests on how much we interact. Most of our guests pick our place for the privacy and we respect that. We don't care what time you arrive but if it's after 8:00 it's a good chance you won't see us till morning. Our dogs are very friendly and will be around so if you're not a dog lover, this probably isn't the place for you. The NeighborhoodWe live in a subdivision in the country. Each lot is at least 3 acres so there is plenty of room for everyone. There is a mountain range within viewing in every direction. We are located directly across from Heart Mountain which is a wonderful place for a day hike. Getting AroundYou will need a vehicle to come to our place. There is cab service in Cody. We have a Powell address but are just as close to Cody, WY. Powell is a nice farming community with several churches and a community college. Cody of course is famous for Buffalo Bill Cody and the Museum. Be sure and check out The Irma Hotel, Trail Town, and other interesting places. There is all kinds of literture on the coffee table to help you plan your visit. Other Things to NoteOur dogs might meander downstairs as they are use to coming and going as they please but if this is a problem, we have a garage and kennel where they can stay. There is a "white noise" machine on the headboard. Please feel free to use it. You CAN'T watch cable TV or current sports on our TV but we can direct you to a sports bar where you can. We use white noise when we go to bed (which is early as we get up between 4:30 and 5:00 am) so don't worry about being quiet. Feel free to watch tv, take in some nightlife in Cody, or whatever, we won't hear you.
