The SpaceIf you want to experience Puerto Rico like a local, peacefully and comfortably but 'like you live there' then our place might be just what you're looking for. Our listing is as a 'private room' but it has it's own entrance and is technically separate from our main living area. (The property is sort of 'split level' and our rental has it's own access) The space includes not only private bedroom and bath but a spacious living room with couch and loveseat, and opens up onto our shaded/partly covered back deck. We currently do not have a kitchen down there but the space does offer a microwave, coffee maker, electric water kettle and double burner cook top and electric grill is also available for use. Refrigeration is also available. We sit just 15 minutes from beautiful jungle waterfalls and swimming holes, and only 25 minutes from a number of Aguadilla's wonderful beaches, about 40 to Aguada and Rincon's. A pleasant half hour or so drive takes you to the popular Caverns of Camuy, about the same takes you to Isabella's beaches and, if you're here on a Friday, just 10 minutes to the engaging mercado ('farmers market' ) which boasts everything from peacocks and produce to pepper sprays and musical instruments...mixed in are food trucks and hand crafted island treasures....truly worth a visit. So, beyond being nearby to many things, we offer a somewhat secluded, peaceful country experience. Situated on the crest of a hill top small neighborhood, we have amazing views, beautiful gardens and a wide variety of fruit and vegetables growing right here. Guests find the back deck a beautiful and welcome morning and evening delight that bookends their days, relaxing and enjoying coffee or tea by morning and a cold refreshing beverage as the sun goes down. We do have pets on site, who more or less free roam, but all are friendly and welcoming. For conveniences, we have a large refrigerator in the rental area, electric tea kettle and coffee maker, a toaster oven, microwave and double burner for basic warming/cooking needs. There is a pharmacy, bakery, and small market just a couple minutes from the house. As guests you are welcome to use and explore the full grounds, yard spaces, hammocks and swing chairs, pick and enjoy fruits of the land etc... We are familiar with many attractions, both 'guide book listed' and not, and can usually provide directions and information about ways to explore and fill your days while on the Western side of PR. Available (but not included in room price) amenity options include handmade fresh juices, pina coladas, holistic healing work such as crystal bowl sound healing, shamanic healing and other alternative healing if you should wish. At the time of this posting we do not have AC in that guest space but since it stays quite cool down there the high quality oscillating fans have been more than adequate in warmer months. Guest AccessThe primary rental space is located on the lower level and includes a bedroom with king size tempurpedic mattress, private bathroom and shower, and large living room that opens up onto the back deck. The living room is equipped with large tv, dvd player, with cable and wifi. These are all areas with full guest private access. Additionally, we invite our guests to come upstairs, view the sunset from our porch, enjoy the swing chairs on the 3 side wraparound porch and to feel free to mingle with us on the upper level. There is a washer/dryer on this level available for their use also. Guests should feel free to wander the property, pick and enjoy fruit, and enjoy all the spaces of the property. Additionally, we do have one smaller guest bedroom with full size bed upstairs that occasionally can be booked. Interaction with GuestsWe occupy the upper level, and generally work from home, as well as 'working our land' daily so we are very accessible for guests to help with their stay, answer any questions or provide assistance. The NeighborhoodThe view from on top of the hill is spectacular and fairly panoramic. Our property allows us to see both sunrise and sunset (which is often magnificent as it sets on the horizon above the island of Desecheo off in the distance) Getting AroundWe live on the top of a scenic high hilltop, in a traditional country neighborhood. There is no public transportation available. There are, however, very reasonable car rentals available both in nearby Aguadilla near the airport and also in town Moca. Other Things to NoteWe have cats and dogs living with us, all very friendly and happy. Regarding pricing: we are obligated to collect a 7% PR room tax and file it with the Tourism Office on a monthly basis. Airbnb does not have a provision to collect this through their website so we must collect it during your stay, prior to check out. Based on our current rates that 7% room tax will range from $3.50 to $4.20 per day. We will issue you a receipt for this at your check out. Thank you for your understanding.

The SpaceThis retreat has been set in a century old cabin, located on an ancient Indigenous Taino farm, in the mountains of present day Buena Vista de Las Marias. The land is covered in a shady canopy of bamboo and fruit trees among the jungle. The air is fresh for adventure to explore the many trails throughout the farm. There are two valleys, each lined with natural springs to enjoy a revitalizing bath anytime of day. There are dozens of varieties of tropical fruits and organic vegetables to enjoy raw or cooked over an indoor fireplace. Each of the rooms has a comfortable and reliable air mattress, with fresh cotton sheets. There are also four hammocks available to take a siesta, anytime of day or night. One of the benefits to being at an elevation above the clouds, is there is a natural air-conditioning system running 24/7 for an irresistible climate. You will understand why we keep extra sheets in the rooms. The coqui frogs will sing you their notoriously hypnotizing lullaby, leaving you with one of the most unforgettable nights rest. Guest AccessLa Finca Cucubana covers over 9 acres, revealing over 550 feet of elevation change from the entrance on the mountain ridge, to the river deep in the valley. It is all yours to explore. The farm is bordered by 2 spring fed creeks, so you will know the boundaries when you reach the water in any direction you walk downhill. The neighboring land remains undeveloped, with thousands of acres of pristine rainforest. Interaction with GuestsI myself, Brett, live on the farm. It is my pleasure to show you around the farm, introduce you to the fauna and flora, and help make fire for dinner. If for any reason you would like an adventure, feel free to join me on foot or in the 4x4 Jeep that belongs to the farm. Lolita, a 14 month old puppy, was raised on the farm. She will make sure you always find your way back home if you follow her down any trails. She will not return home until she is sure you have had a great time on your adventure. The NeighborhoodBefore arriving at the entrance of the farm, you will pass several quaint homes at the top of the mountain. They are all part of the same family who has lived in these mountains for generations. If you are outgoing and want to make friends with the locals, the neighbors are always playing dominoes at the corner where the farm connects with the main road. Although they are competitive and outspoken, this is there way of having fun as they enjoy each others homemade fruit wines and rums, or an ice cold beer from the sweet lady that owns the store. You can also find canned foods, tylenol, and other miscellaneous products you may need during your stay. Getting AroundPlease do not hesitate to ask if you need a ride. We would be more than happy to pick you up from or drop you off anywhere on the island. We only ask that you pay for the gas. We offer this service because we want you to have an unforgettable experience in Puerto Rico. We do our best to make sure enjoy yourself here at La Finca Cucubana and hope that you return to your new home away from home. Other Things to NoteThis is an off-grid renewable energy powered cabin. You will be happy to know that if necessary, there is plenty of power available for cell phones and laptops. The cabin is equipped with an impressive bluetooth speaker, freezer, refrigerator, fan, and lights to keep the party as long as the heart desires. Disclaimer: Electricity in the jungle is a luxury and not guaranteed, although we will do our best to make sure you have power available throughout the length of your stay. They have been here for many generations. Any of the family members will be happy to direct you to La Finca Cucubana. Just ask for Pan Con Ájo. That is my nickname all the locals know me by. Throughout my Caribbean, South and Central America traveling, everyone knows me simply as, Pan Con Ájo.
