The SpaceThis self contained cottage is situated only 2.5 kms from Coromandel Town on the beautifiul Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand. The cottage has one bedroom with a Queen Bed and a double sofa bed in the living room for extra guests. With fantastic views of the bush and the sea, the studio offers a private and very comfortable retreat from which to explore the area. Hosts Catherine and Stuart Fyfe live on site, enjoy meeting people and can provide local knowledge of the area or help guests to plan their activites. The studio has laundry facilities and a fully equipped kitchen so you may cook or enjoy the cafes and restaurants of nearby Coromandel Town. We do not provide breakfast but coffee, tea and milk are provided. There is an LCD television and DVD player for your use and books and magazines to read. There is plenty of room for parking and you are welcome to bring your boat. The cottage displays work from local artists which may be purchased. Stuart works as a potter and his mugs, bowls and jugs are used in the cottage. Interaction with GuestsWe love to meet our guests and talk with them but we also respect their privacy. Lovely landscaped gardens with fresh veggies grown and free range hens. You will have their rich eggs for breakfast. We have a blokes shed where you may find Stuart whose always got a good kiwi yarn to share . Your own entry and lounge area and a small outdoor table for dining, weather permitting. I am happy to give you as much local knowledge as possible. Stuart may be home and he is most helpful. He may even offer a tour around the property while telling you his hunting and fishing tales. The NeighborhoodWe live in a quiet semi rural area but there is a 1.5k footpath leading all the way into our quaint town of early settler buildings. We have visiting birds such as Tui and Bellbird. Some evenings the little owls can be heard in the native clad hills surrounding us. Otherwise it's peaceful and private. Getting AroundWe can arrange a pick up from the airport directly to us.There is a ferry service from Auckland city to Coromandel via beautiful Waiheke Island. But there are no vehicle rentals in Coromandel Town.Intercity Bus company have a service to and from Coromandel. We will collect you on arrival from bus or ferry. There is a local taxi and tour guide shuttles . We are able to give you helpful advice on appropriate activities and adventures, however our town has a great information center. Other Things to NoteThe Coromandel Town is famous for Barry Brickell pottery and his interesting train ride you can take .Waterworks is definitely querky fun and interesting for all ages. Great restaurants and takeaways. Fishing is great here. There are charter boats and barges. This is paradise for seafood lovers. We may be able to fillet your fish and cook it for you by prior arrangement . Bring your boat, plenty of parking, cleaning and filleting facilities.

          Our bach is a roomy, simple, easy-care and relaxing retreat. You no sooner walk in the door and the ?Coromandel Cramp? sets in. It is a TV-free zone so if you can't survive without it then this may not be the place for you. There is however a great selection of books for all tastes, board games, puzzles and playing cards. The kitchen is well equipped with the usual cooking and eating utensils. A bread maker, espresso machine and a few pantry basics are provided. Waipapa Bay is a sheltered pebbly bay with a small sandy beach. It is located 200m down the road with safe swimming, a pontoon to play on and all-tide anchorage for large boats. After their swim the kids can stop off in the shade of the old Puriri trees to challenge each other on the bush swing. There are two kayaks for your use in the lock-up shed and a selection of lifejackets can be found in the hall cupboard. If fishing is what it's about then you have easy access to mussel farms within and outside the harbour, or venture further into the Hauraki Gulf. Boat parking at our place is at the roadside where large trailer-boats can be accommodated on a wide grass berm. The roadside lock-up shed can be used for storing your gear and has a chest freezer in which to store your bait and freeze your catch for the journey home. Boat launching is available at the Sugarloaf public boat ramp less than a kilometre away - launching fees apply. For those without their own boat, fishing charters operate from Hannafords Wharf located in the next bay along. Details are available from the Coromandel Information Centre. Coromandel town is a 10 minutes? drive away with a selection of restaurants, cafes and local shops. The nearby 309 Road features a number of attractions including the Kauri Grove, Castle Rock and The Waterworks. In Coromandel town you can visit the Stamper battery, take local walks or visit Driving Creek Railway - a popular attraction for visitors to the area.             This is a great Beach bach with all the basics. 2 hours from Auckland ( approx ) or Hamilton, get away from it all at this peaceful location. It's well positioned at the end of Kowhai Drive, in the lovely Te Kouma Bay, with gorgeous native bush at the rear of the property, and with an expansive front lawn. Wake to the bird song of the local tui who live around the property. This is a great spot for fishing and diving, or buy your own fresh local mussels and oysters from local suppliers and cook up a storm for dinner. Coromandel town is a 10 minutes drive away, with plenty of choice for cafes and restaurants and local shopping. Driving Creek railway and waterworks are fun for the kids and the young at heart. Loads of activities for everyone in this lovely area. . The living area is furnished and filled with cool collectibles, games and reading plus the added bonus of a stylus record player and a great vinyl collection in keeping with 50's and 60's themed interior. There also a freeview TV. The kitchen is well kitted out with free standing oven and medium sized fridge. Open plan design with both bedrooms off the main living area. There is plenty of off-street secure parking for vehicles and boats, a shared fish cleaning bench to clean the days catch. Pack a picnic and stroll down the driveway and across the reserve to the beach and seashore. Great for family times, swimming, beachcombing and all things nautical. Leave the car at home and consider the ferry from Auckland on a Friday night ? the free Shuttle bus to Coromandel will drop you at the driveway of the property. Coromandel Cabs taxi service available for local trips into town or sightseeing. Te Kouma is located 10kms south of Coromandel Town (shops, cafes, restaurants). A main attraction of Te Kouma is Hannafords Wharf and Sugar Loaf wharf - take a stroll to watch the comings and goings of the mussel barges unloading. Best place to get reliable reception is at the front of the lounge, near the window. Mobile tethering to an iPad will also work from there. We are on rural water (safe to drink) and septic tank. Please take care with water use and nothing 'foreign' down the loo - thank you.
