The SpaceCamp site in Podpeč with outdoor kitchen 15km from the city center. Located 15m from Ljubljanica river, with no distractions from the outside world, it offers an ideal place for a retreat from the city. The summer kitchen has a fridge and allows you to cook basic meals. With agreement and additional payment organic dinner (10 euros) or breakfast (5 euros per person) are prepared by us. Inside the tent is a matress with fresh sheets and pillows. There is a garden next to the tent, from which you can take salad, rocket or mint for tea. We have a small tea collection, which we gathered over the spring time and is ever expanding. Until the solar shower and compost toilet are built, you can use the bathroom inside the house. There a big number of mosquito flying around, for which we have various successful solutions. Supermarket, pharmacy, petrol station and post office are 500m away. Wifi, electricity, canoe, hammock, two bikes are available.
Access to Podpeč is possible with Ljubljana city bus number 19B, this bus drives every hour. The next city bus line, number 6B ends in a village Notranje Gorice, which is two kilometers away. We can also come and pick you up there.
Podpeč is located in the south side of Ljubljana valley between the flat, with various rare species of animals and plants inhabited Ljubljana Marsh landscape park and a 1107m high Krim mountain, which is one the most popular hiking points for people in the region and the summit in good weather offers a spectacular view of the Ljubljana Marsh, the Karawanks, the Kamnik–Savinja Alps, and part of the Julian Alps.
Numerous artefacts dating from the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman period, and the Middle Ages have been recovered from the river bed of the Ljubljanica. Until the 19th century, Podpeč was an important river port, particularly for the movement of building materials from nearby quarries for use in Ljubljana. The area has been declared an archaeological site of national importance by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture.
Activities possible in Podpeč: Canoing on the Ljubljanica river. You can also swim in it, if you like a bit fresher water. One of the deepest lakes in Slovenija, with a shape of an almost perfect circle, Podpeč lake, only a kilometer away has much warmer water. In the restaurant Jezero on the lake shore they prepare different traditional slovenian dishes.

Bicycling to 12km away Iški Vintgar. Iški vintgar is a picturesque gorge carved deeply in the limestone dolomite plateau from the confluence of the Zale and Iška streams where a ten-meter high solitary pillar called the “Rock Man” stands.
Along with the numerous rapids, pools, waterfalls and other phenomena in the gorge, we also find indigenous vegetation and numerous animals.
Numerous trails, including the E6 European Foot Trail run through the gorge.
Hiking to Sveta Ana (484m) just above Podpeč is very lovely in every season. The hike takes 40min of strolling and 30min of normal hiking. The ascent is 195 altitude meters and offers very nice views of the Ljubljana basin the mountains above it and Mount Krim if you turn south. Best time to hike Sveta Ana hill is just before the sunrise. On top of the hill there is a lovely looking church with a rich history, dating back supposedly to 15th century.
Hiking to Mount Krim (1107m) takes from 2h20min-3h. There is a way that starts near Podpeč lake, another popular aproach is from Preserje two kilometers away. Hiking shoes are recommended.
Horseback riding center is three kilometer away, in the same direction 1km further is a multimedia presentation of the original inhabitants of Ljubljana marsh, that lived in houses built on logs back in the copper age 2000 B.C. The worlds oldest known remains of a wheel were found in the marsh.
